This looks interesting. I dig the new character, but I kind of feel like I've seen and done everything that Mars has to offer at this point.

The new environments/locations look a lot more... vertical. Sort of like a natural extension of what Eos sector was heading towards.

I dunno, I'll probably buy it. Especially if they throw in a more multiplayer content (I have a feeling that'll be a separate map pack or something, though)

This game is very fun. I do get a bit of the open world fatigue the GiantBombers have talked about, but I play it in short bursts and have a blast.

The destructable nature of everything makes for some fun solutions to their set tasks. At one point I found myself jumping a car Dukes of Hazzard style into a building, crashing into the third floor, jumping out and jet packing to the roof, using the hammer to cut a hole down a floor, and rescuing the hostage. Awesome.

Jet pack plus sniper rifle == death from above.

I liked the campaign in Guerilla alright, but this looks far more interesting.  I'm really pulling for some sort of unit commands thing so you can set up ambushes and stuff like that, kinda how it looked at the begining there.  Maybe I'm hoping for too much?

Hmm I wonder if this stuff will add new things to multiplayer too.  Had a ton of fun with this game.

Do you guy think it will be comparable to the Fallout 3 DLC in terms of length and amount of content, or is it gonna be really short along the lines of the Saints Row 2 DLC (which was really short and not that great at all). Four hours maybe? I hope so...

I despise seperated DLC, in the same vein of GTA IV DLC. Which this totally is apparently

I can only hope some of this content gets rolled into the main game (weapons and vehicles for example) but i highly doubt it

Now that I've finished the storyline it looks like this tells the story of how the chick left the Marauders to join the Red Faction.  So it appears to tie into the story in some small way.

That whole area of the Badlands and irradiated Zone felt under-utilised in the game.  It came so late that you were only a handful of missions away from finishing the game, leaving you not really wanting to bother to do the last dozen side jobs, instead of just going in and finishing the story.

As for the regular game, I just can't tell people enough how good it is, especially for the reduced price it currently is at some places.  If you're looking for a sci-fi GTA, this is it.  It's not a spectacular title, but the fun you have tearing shit down and playing with the physics is unique to the game.

It has an interesting story as well, since you're basically part of a terrorist movement, you're driving car bombs into buildings and killing hundreds of soldiers (along with the inevitable civilians that wander nearby).  While they're supposed to be a fascist regime, they're people that you are killing by the score, and it starts to make you realise how a terrorist thinks.

The game mimics the American Revolution in several ways, with Earth represnting the British Empire, Mars is the Americans declaring independence, and the Marauders are the Native Americans that fight both, then are used by both sides by empty promises of returning the land.  While I'm sure other world civilizations could draw parrallels as well, it clearly represents what a revolution entails throughout history.

I'm with you, this looks interesting and the whole marauder business should be interesting. But if theres no carry over to the main game that kind of sucks. Also it would be great to see the new areas translate to new multiplayer maps too.

I'll wait for the reviews before buying

@DukeTogo:
Gonna have to respectively disagree with you on the idea of placing you in a terrorist mindset. Now if you had said guerilla fighter, then yes, absolutely.

You aren't inciting terrorism here. You aren't for instance, taking out civilian targets to demoralize the population as a whole. You aren't causing mayhem just for terror's sake, you see.

You're taking down a corrupt regime that is openly and wantonly oppressing, and in some cases, even outright executing, the general population.

Also there's really no fanatical behavior, aside from Jenkins, that any of the other fighters display.

@DukeTogo: I think that is an excellent summary , coupled with  good advice for  anyone "on the fence" regarding the game.  I similarly saw the parallel to the American revolution (and as you pointed: other world conflicts too), but felt that there could have been more subtleties eluding to such conflicts in the games story or world.  Funny side story, I reside in the city where Volition is based and a friend of mine babysits two of one of the developer's kids.  The 8 year old son plays Red Faction:  Guerrilla in a "no enemy mode" and speaks of the game in great excess to my friend, despite it not being a game for that age group.  I suppose if you really liked the game you made, you'd be willing to hand it to your son if you thought it was such a quality work, beside the profanity and violence? Additionally, I agree with many others, as fun as the DLC may be, I would be appreciative if some of it carried over to my "main game" save, or at least some of the content (vehicles, weapons, characters).

DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!  YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES!!!

FUCKING PSYCHED!  So wait, is that chick Sam's sister?  I mean, with all the Marauders and such around, I can only assume...but it would make some form of sense...unless it's Sam herself 3 years after the Second Revolution?

MAN, I WANT IT NOW!!!  I wonder if it'll add any type of new customization options to the multiplayer.

This is SOOOOOOOO getting bought.

Yes! A female character....
But whats with the walking animation?
She walks like a dude... dude.
(ugh! I guess I've been playing too much Bullet Witch lately)...
now there's a female who carries a massive gun...
but still walks like a lady...  (you know, major ass-wiggle)

Like someone else said... looks like they skinned the male figure with a female...
nothing feminine about her... except her looks...

Still looks awesome though!
