Looks interesting at least. RE4 is one of my favorite games and I can't stand 5 so we'll see which side of the fence this ends up on.

We need new consoles. This is the same 3rd person action that's been regurgitated the last 2-3 years. Significantly improved graphics is the low hanging fruit that could actually make the same-old-games somewhat impressive again...

You're right. When I attack zombies, mutants, and abominations in real life, I generally stand still. I also can't look behind me without turning my entire body or carry more items than can fit in my suitcase.

Ah! I forgot, if a game has a SINGLE fantastical element in it, that excuses all other ones. My point was that it was an atmosphere/design choice, not an omission.

I just hope this one is actually scary. Also it needs more puzzles.

Man It looks amazing, except for Leon's voice. I loved him so much in RE4, so sad the actor didn't come back, or if he is, he didn't sound like it. Paul mercier was the one in RE4 I think.

I wish resident evil 5 went back to scary again. Even resident evil 4 had some creepy areas but this just looks like the resident evil movies. Still probably play it though.

@Undeadpool: I would submit to you that I feel the unspoken beef with this design choice is that it not as fun or interesting as it should be and in many cases feels like the game then caters to this poor design choice by having it influence other design elements which further cascades into an avalanche of frustration for the player as they must be forced them to deal with mechanics that don't make sense or are less than fun/interesting.

We understand that the professional employs the stop and pop tactic for the increased accuracy. Ammo efficiency per kill makes sense for the player in the world of Resident Evil. The only other tactic up to this point has been to flee, which also saves ammo. Resource management again - a classic survival-horror element. But what if there was a third choice... scoot and shoot? Decreased ammo efficiency (stress for the player) with the flipside of increased survivability (relief for the player). Balance the three out and you have smarter and - most importantly - more player choice. You gain a realistic and useful third option to any combat scenario where players normally bounce back and forth between two extremes.

Now, that's just an example of my personal take on one of the many issues the Resident Evil games have. I'm not even a huge fan of the series by any means, I just think some of the complainers have valid points. More than the rest of you they want the games to succeed.

And just because things are an atmosphere or design choice doesn't make them right. :)

I hope that the different characters' sections play differently. It would be really cool if Leon's sections were survival horror style, and the Chris stuff was more action. (Cool if the game isn't shitty, that is.)

I hate to be that guy, but I do hope the game hasn't "evolved" to yet another cover based third person shooter.

I don't care if its not survival horror anymore. This looked dope as fuck.

This interests me... I love the look of some of the animation work etc. in some of the games that seem to be coming out; Tomb Raider, Max Payne, this.. they all look like very good and real in game.

If they fix the controls and update them to be more like either Gears or Deadspace this could be fucking awesome. Its not Survival horror anymore but if it controls well I couldn't care less. 5 was a huge disappointment because it remained stuck in the past in all the wrong ways and didn't either commit to the action adventure or survival horror genre leaving it sitting uncomfortably in a weird middle ground. This could really fix that. Heres hoping they get the gameplay right this time and learn from other games notably Deadspace.

This looks like everything that's wrong with Resident Evil, yet I can't contain my excitement. What's wrong with me?

I love the premise, but I just can't get excited about this type of gameplay anymore.

At first I was all

"DUUUUDE RE2 style split campaign AWESOOOME!"

Then I was all

"THREE CAMPAIGNS?! WHAAA FUUUUUUUG YEA"

They also seem to be bringing back all the characters I care about and the T-Virus style zombies, which is straight dope.

Seriously though, looks great. As long as they carry over Leon's personality from 4 I'm sold. Moving while shooting, yes. I like. I love the old RE games the way they were also, and those controls worked in the context of those games, but it's 2012 motherfuckers. Moving while shooting does not automatically remove any suspense or horror. It all comes down to the way the game is presented and the way the enemies are balanced. Dead Space nailed it. The couple hours of DS1 were some of the most suspenseful and tense horror game moments I've ever experienced and mobility in combat never hindered it -at all-

By the way, anyone wanna bet that the shaved head guy with Ashley is one of the Wesker children?

Looks pretty good as long as people accept this is an action game from the get-go and not survival horror, I think the whining will be kept to a minimum.

Well for the most part I'm impressed but trailers like these usually create too much hype, that the game won't be able to deliver. Hope this comes out for the Wii-U

I was really excited when I saw leon's gameplay footage, then really disappointed when it turned into gears of war with zombies

Looks promising, although I really do wish it was Claire instead of Chris.

Oh, and it damn well better be possible to play solo properly. If I have to go through another forced co-op/idiot AI babysitting experience, I'll scream.

Oh this actually looks fairly damn awesome. Leon, Jill and Chris all playable and an environment that gives me hard nostalgia for the old games, fuck yeah!

Leon alone makes this a buy for me.
