@demonssoulfood: The game doesn't blow.......Someone named Ryan blows!!! Seriously?? Too all of you people who had problems with this, you suck! I passed it on my first try! I am playing the game on Zealot (which is normal) and the game is not that hard! I guess a lot of you, including Ryan, had no idea how the relics worked? You did know that there are relics, correct? There is one that extends your combo window; you can get knocked down and you would still have enough time to get up and continue the combo! Were any of you aware of this?? I am tired of critics on multiple game review sites, beating up on games just because they suck at playing them. Ryan mentioned that he had already played for 50+ hours, and then this video is 35 more minutes of him looking like a tool!?! That is pathetic! Don't give a game a bad review just because you suck at it! Ryan made himself look like a fool by posting this video of his mediocre gaming skills! LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Next time go into the menus and do a little reading, it is amazing how much that can help!

@MildMolasses: There is an easy/cheap way to pass the 8 seconds in air challenge. you can simply knock them into the air then alternate between your single heavy strike and a grab as the enemies bounce back up.  You can actually keep this up for minutes. I figured it out fighting the heretics while going full holy. I kind of suck and was used to relying on my cross lol.

excellent video. this is why I fucking love GIant Bomb. I have always wondered how a reviewer must feel if they can't get past a frustrating part of a game. Now I know.

I had a miserable time with the 8 seconds airborn challenge. This one was a slightly annoying, but getting the window extension was the answer

I beat this on the first try. Not to say I'm some master gamer, but just use the combo extended relic and spam the cross, its easy as hell.

I noticed Ryan wasnt doing any of the counters considering that he actually went the unholy route. He was just spamming the same combo over and over.

I actually got the opportunity to test this game before it came out. This was such a bullshit part, it was actually worse when I was playing it. If you got any damage taken, the challenge would be over. We actually went overtime in the testing because of this shit. This game is awesome, but this part was SO FUCKING FRUSTRATING. Ryan you had time, but we had minutes to finish this part.

Huh? Mirror's Edge is trial and error. Don't get me wrong, I love the game. I declared it my personal Game of the Year '08. But the first time through the game was just awful! For myself and several people that I know, Mirror's Edge was only like that on the first couple of levels. After getting a hang of the controls there is rarely a break in the action. Even when you do die, it's fairly clear what you did wrong. You jumped off that ledge a half second too early and guess what, you fell, because in real life if you're even an inch off then you're off all the way. It made the game much more immersive. Most of the problems he mentioned I never ran into in the game (like rebound jumping - that shit is easy). 
 
He said in this video it took him two weeks to get past this part. There are much harder parts even in the original God of War. It's pretty clear he has some playing issues, with action games anyway. "
I disagree. I loved Mirror's edge; it was incredibly immersive when you were in the midst of the action and running away from guards and flipping up, down, and sideways everywhere. But there were times when I literally had no idea how I was supposed to get somewhere, and I wasn't sure if the way I was doing it was the right way. This happened in particular when you had those moments of respite and it almost became something of a puzzle game. It wasn't that it was difficult to do; I just didn't know after failing the first few times if that was the way I was supposed to do it. Those moments really broke the immersion for me.

I figured those would come up. I did play DS and had a few FUCK YEAR moments thanks to them, but those were (to my knowledge, still need to finish it) only at the start of the first few dungeons... not right before the final boss. That's just bullshit.

This was the main complaint other reviews had for the game. The game starts off strong, but gets really generic in the middle and really hard in the final parts of the game. 
 
I was wondering where the review was myself, now I understand.
 
2 out of 5 stars I imagine.
 
Edit: Wow! people talk about how hard Devil May Cry 3 was, but even that game didn't have a part like this before fighting the final boss.

Lol, I hope this doesn't put anyone off from playing the game. For a GOW clone, it really is fun. I went the Holy route first and this Malebolge really wasn't that much of a problem if you just use Righteous Path here and there when enemies get too far away from you.

Thank you for this video, it has pretty much swayed me to not play this game. I've been on the fence for awhile, but this is a level of frustration that I can easily see myself falling into. Thank, Giant Bomb! You da best!

It sucks that they made this part mandatory, but I pretty much know for a fact that none of the GB crew is especially good at games either. Not even like average good, they kind of suck at them. Wasn't Ryan the same person that said Mirror's Edge was trial and error?

Man, if Ryan had put some stuff into the holy tree he probably wouldn't have had that much trouble. I think the last boss is going to drive him slightly batshit.

Man, I feel sort of bad. I stormed this on my fist try. In fact, I think I even got the bonus... 
 
Maxing out the holy path makes the game pathetically easy. Infinite, uninterruptable  AOE cross blasts? Dead enemies bleeding health and mana?  A maxed out heal spell that will get you from 10% health to 100%? 
 
Being good, it seems, has its rewards...

Is this for real? I'm sorry, but it was my friend's first time playing the game (we were at friends house who had the game, his first time ever touching game) and he beat it on his first try.
 
I remember what we told him to do is to just use crosses (my friend leveled that up to where it fires a lot of them) and when the babies spawn just hit them, because they can interrupt your cross ability. I had beaten every challenge up to that point without dying, and I failed twice on this one so I passed the controller to my friend.

Woot!  Just finished it on the first try.  It was super easy since I'd been speccing Holy.  All I had to do was equip one relic that increased my combo time, and one that made it so that Cross attacks never get interupted.  Then I just spam crosses.  Mind you I'm grateful that you guys put this video up so that I was mentally prepared for this nonsense.  Despite my success, I'm not going to be an apologist becaue after making it this far I can say that the game is flawed in very small but noticeable ways.  Review forthcoming, if I was as good enough at writing composition as Tapper Davis.  To paraphrase "Yo!  This game ain't all that!  But its ok."
