This is Final Fantasy and not some western game.

Seriously, shut the fuck up about the voice acting, its not that bad.

Ugh, anime melodrama and voice acting.
 
Graphics look really good, though.

The melodrama... ugh... I love Final Fantasy but that was seven minutes of unfiltered, overwrought emotion, oozing with un-needed teenage angst.  The combat system looks awesome but... I'm not 13 anymore Squeenix.

I don't know, this looks absolutely amazing, and I dug the acting as well. I think people are just jaded. I can't wait for Spring now, SSFIV and FFXIII!

Ugh!!!  That is some of the WORST most melodramatic dialogue I've ever heard.  Square-Enix has never been more out of touch.  Compares this to the debut Gay Tony trailer, which absolutely shits on this embarrassment.

Visually it looks amazing, but the voice acting and the dialogue is terrible.

Im just not a fan of FF anymore.  Looks good, for what it is.  But is, isn't for me. 

From the start I was all over actually trying this FF because the combat looked pretty interesting, the new battle system and everything, but wow...everything else, just as overly dramatic and terrible as I expected. Ugh.

After watching this my feelings veered between: 
 
1) This looks amazing 
2) I don't know if I can actually be bothered sitting through hours upon hours of melodrama, MGS4 style.

Hm, this is starting to become interesting to me again. It certainly looks hella good, and those were some awesomely performed pieces of japanese-ish melodrama. Will try to keep this one as a mental note and not watch any more trailers.

I can live with the dialogue.  There's nothing wrong with some melodrama now and again.

The character models look absolutely stunning in my opinion -- but there's something I don't like about some of the voice acting. Wonder if the japanese voice acting is better. All right, whatever, I'm on board again.

Yeah, I don't think square is trying to capture any new audiences with this. If you are already planning on playing this, you know what you're getting into. Which I fear isn't exactly the main audience of Giant Bomb...
 
As for the characters, It's just the way the Japanese culture is. Americans tend to favor older protagonists(ie. Marcus Fenix, Gordon Freeman, Shepard from Mass Effect, etc.) while Japanese tend to favor much younger and, god forbid, 'emo' characters. So no Square is not out of touch with what is relevant. They're making a game for Japanese players. And then its being localized over here. Really unfair to say that Square Enix doesn't know what they're doing just because they don't make games for the entire world as a whole.

persona 4 people are voice acting in this game ... i think kanji is voice acting snow. and naoto is lightning . and rise is the pigtails girl

Since I never had a console before I'm dieing to get my hands on FFXIII. It looks great, bar the GF summons - those just look horrible if they all turn into something modern to do the damage.
Being a huuuuuge fan of FF8 - I'd prefer that system personally.

I'm going to assume you know nothing of the FF series from your comment on making it 360 exclusive. They do not have excessive blood. Violence, yes, not blood. In each FF there has been one scene, and one only, with blood. The series is story and character driven.  Excessive blood  would detract from the melodrama. If you want a more violent, bloody RPG maybe you should try some of the western ones. JRPGs are not known for blood. Odd really, considering that the bloodiest cartoons with some of the greatest stories come from Japan. It's just not a Final Fantasy/any JRPGs really thing to have blood, though they've moved so far away from the original feel of the series that maybe that'll happen soon. Not in this one though, this one seems all about the cheese, two demensional characters and convoluted plot frequently found in the newer ones.  
 
 I'm not touching the comment about making this an FPS.   
 
Not directed at X360 ;

SquareEnix needs to stop adding the FF title to their new RPGs. They could do so much more if they just broke away from that series. It ended with IX. VIII was a stretch and the first sign that the company wanted to make something different, they could have started in a new direction there without the FF title (I still have fond memories of VIII but it did not fit in with the others and had the worst finale I've ever seen- TIME KOMPRESSION...no).
 
 IX was for the people, like me, who remember FF as ending with VII. It was their way of telling those people that the series was over now, "Here is your parting gift that is wrapped in so many references to other games and such an awesome homage to the FF stories of the past that you can safely ignore any new FFs as they will be so completely different that it will crush you to see the FF title attached to it."
 
Why didn't they just let it die there and make X and beyond their own games? I liked FFX, I had to pretend it wasn't an FF and wanted to shoot myself after playing X-2, but I liked it. The main character may have been annoying at first but he actually grew, so did the others, there was development there. I'd play the other new ones too, and maybe even like them, if they weren't FF. I have no idea if any of this will make sense to people who do not think how I do, but there it is.

This trailer makes me not look forward to playing FF13.

Oh man that totally sold me on FF13, the story looks like its trying to evoke the emotions I got while playing lost oddesy which is great!
 
 
EDIT: oh man between this and Super Street Fighter 4 my spring 2010 is gonna be fully booked and then battlefeild will come out lol argggg

Are you kidding? Having to do 360 versions of games holds back the PS3's potentional, because developers have to account for the 360's inferior hardware. Looks great, but the music made it seem so cheesy "
