What the.. what?

The CG trailers for this game have been pretty cool. I know that has nothing to do with anything but... y'know.

Though still interested in this game somewhat, it looks like it's turning out to be nothing like I was hoping it would be. Was really wishing for a sort of quasi-detective Cthulhu vibe where combat would've been more poignant and sparse with an emphasis on unraveling mythic puzzles, like how the original Sanctuary of Secrets beta invites were playing out. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

Not to be too flip, but it's a MMO that isn't WoW or Star Wars, so I'm automatically interested.

Fight against this fantastical world!... with guns.

It saddens me that the only big developer in Norway still persist in making MMOs that are doomed to fail.

Interesting, I have a guilty pleasure with Age of Conan's pvp, hope the combat is as fun as it looks.

That's funny because for some reason I clicked on the link thinking "someone really needs to make another Lovecraftian game like Eternal Darkness, hope this is that".

In the games world normal people can't see any of that. The only people that can see it are the players because they are "special".

Nothing makes me want to play an MMO less than a desert wasteland.

What's the rationale to a group of people running around shooting guns and waving their majiks about at nothing, though?

Don't get me wrong, I want this game to be a well constructed breath of fresh air in the already crowded MMO market, but it seems like somewhere along the line the focus of the development shifted from cerebral and clandestine to "oh God shoot everything" without really filling in the gaps appropriately with the vibe of the game world.

Again, all speculation, so I could be wrong.

I was on board for this MMO because of Ragnar Tornquist's involvement and the interesting setting/concept. Their double dipping sub+cash shop model they announced put me completely off of it however.

It's already showing it's age without being released, hopefully they'll put it out soon.

There aren't enough games set in Egypt. Which is a shame, because their history and culture is so rich, and all those plagues and myths and ancient alien conspiracies are awesome. So I'm glad Secret World isn't ignoring it - this whole game sounds really promising, but this specifically looks great!

Well, there was nothing enjoyable to look at during this entire trailer. I have yet to play it, but I also have my suspicions that the mechanics are janky and sub-par, like every other "okay" seeming MMO.

We have so many freaking MMOs. If you're not making a luxury product with some sort of obviously excellent aspect, I feel like shooting any higher than F2P is begging for failure.

This keeps getting more and more interesting.

MMOs require support. EA is making this game, I think that pretty much dooms it.

It got really awkward when the white girl starting talking about fighting the black disease in Africa, but then it was OK as she has a black friend fighting with her.

Looking at this trailer I kinda thought it would be Dead Island set in Egypt, especially with the music at the end.

Get over yourself dude, since my sub renewal, these guys have put out numerous multi hour long subscriber videos that are very well worth the price. yesterday Vinnie and Dave played an entire game on live stream, things like that aren't free, or even cheap to produce.

People will spend $20 on a DVD, or $4-5 to rent a video, but refuse to pay $5 a month for hours and hours of subscriber content. Get over yourself.

It reminds me of the people who sit at home all year and expect, those of us who work to pay all of their bills

Yeah damn them for trying to make profit, and the subscriber content doesn't take away from the site, if you don't like it then don't pay for it, why should you, a non-subscriber be allowed to post in subscriber content? that makes no sense.

Actually that issue makes perfect sense. It's not a question of one being probably insanely rare but possible versus another being impossible so why do you have a problem with the improbable.

It's BECAUSE one of them it impossible that makes it far more palatable. Magic we can get behind our rules need not apply, highly unlikely outcomes for real world understanding we aren't so generous with.

I mean not many people are railing on the Force being impossible, but there are plenty of people that have noticed the Empire's stormtroopers have some of the shittiest aim in the universe. One requires perhaps the larger suspension of disbelief, but it's one that can readily be made and becomes internally consistent. The other doesn't jive with what we would think a galaxy spanning empire that build fake moons would have as its elite troops.

Though YMMV depending on the things you know obviously. I've heard plenty about Law and Order and ER from lawyers and doctors respectively. And I myself cringed armed even with secondhand knowledge on Tony Stark's various physics breaking.

This could be good, and I am sure being an MMO will help co-op of all varieties be rampant.
