I'm not sure about the extent top which I buy anything they were saying, but that is some impressive game engine trailering. Well played.

How about they actually show some straight up gameplay instead of theatrical shit like this? I hate trailers that show everything but the actual game they're advertising.

I do hope there are mounts of some sort at higher levels. I can tell there is going to be a metric fucktonne of running in this game.

I was a huge fan of GW, and am skeptical about the direction GW2 is headed in.  I liked the original game, but I don't like how it seems like they want to "change everything" with the sequel.

Played the first GuildWars for a including all the expansions for quite a few years and I still pick it up here and there just to mess with it. Really good game and probably some of the best pvp I've seen in any MMORPG.

Seems they are taking player influence on the world to the nest step, very interesting. Before there was only an influence system through pvping where it changed which faction owned what parts on the map.

Really looking forward to this game, I have full trust that ArenaNet can make something great.

To all the naysayers....Guild Wars, from the beginning has been more about having a good single player experience with the option of letting the rest of the world see...to me this gives a great sense of security...and i think GW2 is looking to do what everyone loved about the first and then some.

If ArenaNet pulls off their lofty plans, then Guild Wars 2 might very well be the next BIG thing in MMOs. They might be about to rewrite the template for what a modern MMORPG does. This might be the future. It looks effin bright!

Yeah.....i think the "MMO" part of this game has just about gone out the window.

The whole instance thing really is no fun and is sounds like they kicked into overdrive now.

NCSoft make the best trailers?

I think so.
Never got into the first game much really, missed opportunity to release it on consoles too.
This does look stunning though.

The thing about the persistent world that is cool: a town gets attacked and if you can't defend it, when another group of players gets there, they will have to attack the enemies holding the town hostage. if they can do that, then the next group attempts to defend again. if the second group fails, it may then have a garrison of enemies. i am really excited to see if they can pull this off.

Enjoyed first game quite a lot. None of the expansions impressed me (ignored the last expansion completely). Some strong words here, excuse me if I'm skeptical, but I just don't think they can pull this off.

Arenanet are such cockteases!!!  I thoroughly loved the first Guild Wars, as it was a new and fresh look at the idea of MMOs.  Yeah, the instanced world sucked in some ways, but there were plenty of ways it DIDN'T suck.  I didn't have to worry about kill-stealing, I didn't have to worry about ganking.  I literally got to play the game.  There was little end-game in the base game, but Factions and Eye of the North were INCREDIBLE additions.

Guild Wars 2, so far, has all the features I've been wanting in an MMO.  If they can do it with a little less instancing, then I'm set.

I would be extremely hype for this is NCSoft didn't have the absolute worst account security system in online gaming history. Let me know if 90% of people playing this game are hacked accounts turned Chinese bots too.

Piqued my interest. I hear persistent world and I think, "okay, my actions are going to affect the world for everyone" so if I cull the centaur threat, the merchants will be safe for a while before the centaurs muster another attack. But then the concept of storyline and "the player feeling like a hero" send a SWTOR-flavored chill down my spine, "how can this be a persistent world for all the players when everyone has their own unique storyline for the same events?"

If instances are involved, I'll probably avoid it :P

Funny ...
... because WoW already did all that with phasing 2 years ago.
Also it's not hard to make the player affect the world when you don't have a single unified world to begin with, since GW is not strictly speaking a full on MMO
Graphics are impressive tho. But so were Aion's and EQ2's at the time of release, a lot of things look good in trailers at certain angles, like always.
Also, promises are made by the truckload each time a new MMO comes out, but are rarely if ever kept to the full.

I've been following SWTOR since day 1 and so far this blows what they have shown for that game out of the water. Hopefully they can deliver and not make everything they talk about just an instance.

@Christoffer: There some very detailed articles on the gw2 website regarding combat mechanics if you don't mind reading. I found that they were very enjoyable and full of fresh, new and exciting ideas, rather than just the usual marketing fluff you get whenever new MMO's are getting made.

I am the biggest Star Wars and Bioware fanboy that I know, but seriously FUCK the Old Republic. That's just  a fully voiced WoW in space. This, this is the future of MMO's, this is mind-blowing. The sequel to my favourite game of all time is coming and I just can't freaking wait!

Still getting a bit of what many saw from SC2, on this never coming out, maybe because they started announcing stuff earlier before the game is close to ready on coming out. Liked the first one a lot (necro & dervish esp.) so if those are in this game I'm in for the sequel. Hopefully it's not like the first in hitting the level cap 1/3 of the way in the game leaving the rest of the time to hunt down skills or cash for hideously overpriced gear (also dyes need to be on a vendor based pricing system for the AH, first game had player based economy so getting 1+ dyes could be impossible to afford for a while).

Even though Guild Wars was free to play it was way to instanced for me.  Half the fun of MMO's to me is being in a big open world with tons of players going about their business.

Free to play, pay to buy. You have to buy it like any other game, but there's no monthly fee.

" One thing though...  I understand what they say about all the grinding and stuff, but saying no one likes it is stupid, there's what a bazillion WoW players that would disagree with that statement.  One of that bad things about the first one was that you would attain the max level (20) and best gear in a couple of days (hell depending on the person even a matter of  hours), so in the end the only thing that would be driving you to keep playing would be the storyline, and, let's be frank here, it wasn't all that great...  the combat was nothing special either, click a monster and hit it till it's dead, repeat. IMO the game was too PvP centric, and I'm not into that, eventually I completely lost interest, because I didn't had more levels, abilities or any possible better gear to look forward to, I agree that some games get a little to much enthusiastic with all the grinding, but you can't just forget about it completely, there should be  a middle term, because in the end when you finally get that ability or gear you worked so hard for you get a real sense of accomplishment. "
You're wrong. No one likes grinding. They like the things that griding gives them - levels, equipment, access to social circuits and elite areas. They want those things as fast as possible, and that road is usually the most grindy one. Again - they don't like the grind, but the rewards.
GW2 aims to give you a lot of interesting and varied things to do, all equally rewarding. In GW1 you still had to grind somewhat for the prestige items, simply because they where more expensive then the non-prestige items (even though they had the same stats. The look and rarity dictates the price.)
