    Wii Sports Review

Words cannot describe just how excited i was for the new Nintendo Wii Christmas of 2007. But did i get it? No. In fact, not until February of 2007 did i actually receive the Christmas gift i had waited for. Was i frustrated? Sure, but it also got me that much more excited, and when i got it, oh-ho, just a brilliant day. All my friends were round my house, and we set up the Nintendo Wii in my Bedroom. Now obviously i had not bought any games for the Wii, but fortunately the Wii came with a pack in game, Wii Sports. Was the game a whole load of fun? Heck yes, was it a multi-player experience? Heck yes, does it have lasting appeal? Not so much...But is that to say that Wii Sports is not a fun game? No, no. Wii Sports is a hefty load of fun when your friends are around with you, but the novelty of Wii Sports wears off eventually, leaving you with the Wii Fitness Age when the game eventually out-lasts itself.

Wii Sports, along with the Nintendo Wii, was released to the North American public on November the 19th, 2006. It was released to Japan, Australia and Europe within the following month of the North American release. Of course Nintendo had a very hard time getting enough Wii's to North America, Japan and practically every other territory, especially Europe at first, because of the huge Consumer Demand, and the price of the console compared to the XBox 360 and the Playstation 3. This problem went on for around a year, and eventually caught speed in 2008.

Wii Sports is practically a Tech-Demo, packaged with the Nintendo Wii. It shows what the Wii's Motion Sensitive Controls are capable of, and what was to come for the Nintendo Wii. The idea that Nintendo packed this in with the actual console itself is just a testament to Nintendo's fan base. Thinking about it, it hasn't been around a decade since the last console had a pack-in title, so at least you know this will keep you busy for a few months, without spending some $60 on another game. Wii Sports includes the sports: Tennis, Baseball, Golf, Bowling and Boxing, and are available to play with either just 1 player, or up to 4. Wii Sports is indeed a hard game to just give a review to, i am giving it an absolute honest review because that's what i do, but i also cant help but feel good towards it in some way because it was a free game. Whatever the case, here we go.

A genuine plus about this game is the Bowling. Bowling on Wii Sports is one of the funnest games i have played for an awfully long time, and just how much freedom you have when playing the game is great. You can spin, determine how fast you want the ball to go, heck, you can swing it into the other lane if you wish so (I dont advise it, but you can), and the best thing about it is, it never really gets boring, just trying to beat your own score if your not with friends can be a whole load of fun. And the practice options with Bowling are just about as fun as the original game, so your getting a brilliant time there. Another game worth getting into is Tennis, which is definitely the most accessible game to a new crowd whom have never played Video Games before. All you have to do is put the Wii Remote in your hand, like a Tennis Racket, and swing. Simple, and not only is it simple, but its a whole lot of fun when with friends, just like the previously stated Wii Bowling. A fun game, but to a lesser extent than Bowling and Tennis, is Wii Boxing. Whether you have two Wii-Motes and NunChuks is debatable, but if you do, you cant deny beating the living hell out of each other virtually is an unmissable experience, even if just for one time.

With that said, the same cant be said about Wii Golf and Wii Baseball. Wii Golf's controls are so unreliable that the ball could go yards instead of inches, and to be honest, its just not as quick, neither as fun as the other three already mentioned. Now i am not quite sure what there game was when they thought up Wii Baseball to be honest, sure its common for Westerners to play Baseball, but the amount of times i have fouled on this game is ridiculous, and most of the time its not your fault at all, its the Wii not picking up that your in the right place. So those two are both practically failures, but that's not to say your not getting a whole load of content between all of the games for free now is it? its a free game, pick it up and have fun knowing you haven't had to fork out 60 bucks for something else yet.

As for the Graphics, look Nintendo we understand that this game is a Tech Demo, we also understand that we are playing with Mii's so its understandably harder to make work than say, Mario Galaxy, but still these Graphics look just a tad bit dated right? right. These Graphics look like they got one of the best Nintendo 64 looking games, and slapped it on the Nintendo Wii. You could have at least tried. Now the Sound on the other hand, isn't that bad, why? because there's not much of it. The sound consists of the Menu...and some almost Elevator Music kind of effects going on why your playing the games. So whatever, the Music really doesn't count in this game anyway, but something that does and we have already covered to an extent, is the replay factor. There isn't really any. There may be if you play Multi-Player with your friends a lot, maybe, but as Single Player, after you have gotten Pro at everything all that's left is a sour taste in your mouth, and Wii Fitness Age.

In the end, what is there to say... Wii Sports is a fun game. It mixes some great games for Single Player (for a limited amount of time) and Multi-Player, along with some not-so-good games and you have a "Decent" altogether package. Am i complaining? hell no, I didn't pay a freaking' dime for this...better than what i payed for Mario Kart Wii that's for sure...

It's fun, but in hindsight, it's insubstantial 0

You've probably played this game. Even if you've somehow managed to avoid picking up a Wii all these years, you've undoubtedly seen it at a friend's house or at a store display. Wii Sports is one of those cultural phenomenons that will probably be remembered for decades to come- where kitschy colors & hair metal represent the 80s and hip-hop and The Simpsons represent the 90s, Wii Sports will one day come to represent the 00s. It was just that big."Big", that is, in the sense of popularity. ...
