Everything about this console seems very unappealing to me, but maybe I'm in the minority. Do you guys care about the WiiU?
Wii U
Platform »
The Nintendo Wii U, the follow-up to the monstrously popular Nintendo Wii console, launched in North America on November 18th 2012.
Do U care about the WiiU?
I care about it, of course, since it's the beginning of the next generation of consoles, but am I encouraged by what I've seen? Not really. It's not a "consoles are stagnating and dying off" thing, just a "Nintendo doesn't seem to know what they're doing" thing. They seem to lack any idea of how to present and market it in the early going, are designing it for almost immediate obsolescence, can't fully break away from the Wii's motion controls for some bizarre reason, and are generally half-assing it in every possible way. You either commit to bringing on a new console or you don't, and Nintendo, for whatever reason, isn't.
I am not encouraged to buy a Wii U at all. There's always a chance I'll get it one day but Nintendo is doing a piss poor job of making me excited for one.
Nintendo's making it, so yes. There will be games on it with the Mario, Zelda, and Metroid names, and I will probably play them.
Enough to look in from the outside. As in, simply soak up some of the general news about it and hear about some of the more popular and/or quirky games on it, but not to actually buy it and play it unless at a friend's house or I somehow get insanely rich sometime in the next few years.
Remember when the PS2 came out and left the dreamcast in the dust and went on to be one of the most popular consoles of all time?
Remember when the xbox came out and left the Wii in the dust but then the wii went on to be one of the most popular consoles of all time?
I don't know what will happen, but I kind of don't care about the console at all.....
Yes I care because Microsofts focus seems to be on media and not on games anymore, highly unlikely I get the next xbox. And we shall see if Sony is even around then to release a PS4 at the rate they are headed. WiiU might be my only choice in a console to get, or just convert to PC which can be very expensive for me.
i dont care so much that i want to go and purchase one, but im really hoping some of my friends do, so i can play it :P
I care but I have no plans to buy one at launch or even in it's first year. Later on down the line who knows but currently no.
I care... I care to see if it's the console to finaly kill nintendo's hardware division so they can start making games on systems I actually want to own
It's more likely to happen now than ever before. Fingers crossed

the WiiU, next gen console... you funny man
At the moment, no. In terms of its hardware and capabilities, the evidence suggests that it is on par or maybe very slightly better than the PS3 and the Xbox 360. I already have an Xbox 360 and a PS3, so any third-party game that comes to the Wii-U would be theoretically playable on the PS3 or 360, unless it was a Nintendo Exclusive, and honestly, few games are exclusive these days. Not only that, but the next Xbox and the Playstation 4 will undoubtedly be technically superior to the WiiU. So I have machines that will likely be able to run anything the WiiU can run, and the WiiU will be technologically superseded by the new consoles from Microsoft and Sony.
The only reasons why I'd buy a WiiU are:
1) The Nintendo Exclusives. This is the big draw, and frankly, it's not a bad draw. Nintendo make good games. I can't say the same for their third-party shovelware partners who churn out crap, but Nintendo themselves make good games. Great games, in fact. Super Mario Galaxy was undeniably excellent and so was Zelda. A new Smash-Brothers game interests me. A new Super Mario game interests me. But I have to see these games first and know when they are coming out to bother buying a WiiU. Until I see these good Nintendo games, I'm not buying. And, to be honest, even the draw of Nintendo First-party games is losing its power. I didn't buy much for my Wii, and I have to say even I'm getting a little bored with the endlessly repeated Nintendo games. Come on, guys, would it kill you to make a couple new IPs every once in a while?
2) The fancy tablet-controller. This reason isn't very convincing. I have a good TV. I don't fight with my family over its use. I already have another tablet. What does the new controller enable me to do? It seems very gimmicky. Until I see it used for something genuinely ground-breaking (and no, holding it up to the screen to "scan" items or "reveal" hidden objects, or use it to manage your inventory isn't very groundbreaking), I'm not buying it.
The WiiU is too much of an unknown to interest me right now. Unless it's absurdly cheap (and it might be, given its low tech specs), I'm not buying it on day one, and I might never buy it. I haven't used my Wii for over... gosh.... three years now. Almost four years.
Nope. They fucked me over on the wii. Not again Nintendo. That said, i bought a SNES on monday with SMW and LTTP. And after playing those now, i saw that they are still better together than all of wii games. So as 2 SNES games makes up for FULL wii games? Why the hell would i shell out for a wii 1.5 and then hear"my body is ready" for 2-4 years...
As of right now I have no interest. I will wait and see how the next Smash Brothers look before I make a definite decision. I am a sucker for those games.
I want Pikmin 3 and Project P-100 but I'm not sure if they are enough to get me to buy a Wii U. So I'm interested, but not sold.
Did I play the Wii that much once I got a PS3 or Xbox? Not at all. Will my feelings toward Nintendo properties suddenly shift once the WiiU hits the market? Doubtful.
I would hope that Nintendo is able to move the industry forward, even a little bit, through the WiiU, so on that level I care about it. But I have no plans to buy it and that probably isn't going to change.

I'll care if my Virtual Console titles transfer. Considering I've filled up almost 10 pages on my sd card, if those things don't work then screw it.
I think all Wiiware and VC titles are 100% transferable fo' free.

Not even the slightest interest in Wii U. The only thing my Wii is good for is that it makes a decent paperweight.
WHY ISN'T THIS A POLL? That bothers more than it should.
Also to answer the question, not interested.
Right now not at all. Maybe if 3rd parties really get behind it and do a bunch of amazing stuff I can't experience elsewhere then I'll start caring. I have no interest in playing yet another [insert Nintendo franchise here].
