    How loud is it?

Does anyone have any information they've seen or heard about the actual loudness of the console itself when playing games? I own a PC that's very loud and can be very distracting and ruin the immersive experience of some games. The same with my Xbox, it's one of the original white ones so it's pretty loud and again, annoying at times depending on the intensity of the game I'm playing. I'm only asking this on the forums because I'm thinking of getting one (obviously) and I've not seen or heard anyone else ask this question before. Any info would be nice, thanks.

It basically sounds like a plane taking off. Nintendo will be selling special ear protectors.

To my knowledge it's never been mentioned. You'll just have to wait until someone has had some hands-on with it outside of the show floor...

Like Galiant said. In the environments it's been shown that isn't really something anybody can say one way or the other on yet. Even a pre-release developer build is probably not the same and isn't a reliable thing to make the judgment on. I highly doubt it will be as loud as your Xbox. As for your PC maybe you should upgrade your fans.

If it's anything like the Wii, the sound should be barely noticeable.

Not sure about the Wii U sound but te frickin fan on my PS3 is the loudest thing ever. I keep hearing about the loudness of the 360-but man, my PS3 is out of control.

This is the best answer any non-Nintendo employee could give you. Same goes for E3.

They're actually planning to sell a device that melts Wiimote condoms down into ear plugs.

The Wii and Gamecube were both incredibly quiet, so it's safe to bet that the Wii U is also going to be quiet. You won't know for certain until it's out, though.

@krazy_kyle: It's pretty pointless to ask at this point. Wait until someone has a final retail unit and tests it in a natural environment.

I can't say about the Gamecube, but the Wii isn't exactly quiet. The fans are tiny and reasonably quiet but damn do you know when it's reading a disc! I find it distracting when I'm playing Xenoblade Chronicles actually ... >.>

But yeah, ask again in a month or two when someone will actually know. I can't see it being much louder than current machines and as long as it isn't as loud as my original 360 I don't care. XD

I hope it's loud enough to justify bringing back the Play It Loud campaign.
