The Nintendo Wii is a home video game console released on November 19, 2006. The Wii's main selling point was the innovative use of motion controls that its signature Wii Remote and Nunchuk controllers allowed for. It became the best selling home console of its respective generation of hardware.

Yep, this awesome arcade game is coming to the Wii's Virtual Console Arcade, thanks to Namco. It costs 800 points in Japan (man, they're ripping us off). I'd show a video but I can only find footage of the PlayStation version on YouTube. It runs at a lower resolution and frame rate, and has some really crude texture work, where the arcade game has simple flat polygons, 60 fps and higher resolution, which holds up very well. It has a retro look, as opposed to the crude early 3D look of the PlayStation version. Well, the pixelly explosions give it away, but other than that, this should be rather fun. Think of it a little bit like Virtual On, except without jumping and melee, and more sliding around. Here's how it looks:

It also had a great dual joystick setup on the arcade cabinet, but it's obviously not as well known as Virtual On:

OK that's pretty cool, I liked the game on Playstation.

Does this have the mazes of the PS1 version though?  PS1 version also had textures, which this one seems to lack.

Fuck, nevermind, I was thinking of Assault Rigs...

When was Virtual On even a well known series outside of Japan?
The Saturn was a cult status for the most part in the US and Europe.  Most people likely played Virtua Fighter.
The Dreamcast version didn't sell very well.

Make a Virtual On thread and see how many views and replies it gets compared to this. Especially now it's coming to XBLA. So, yeah, Cyber Sled is not as well known as Virtual On. It's a hit for the Saturn which, while not too popular, was still the "second" console of the generation. Do people not know of Panzer Dragoon because it was on the Saturn? I'd bet more have heard of that than Omega Boost (probably in any Omega Boost review Panzer Dragoon was also mentioned), even if the latter was on the more popular system (PlayStation).

Found a decent-ish video now that it's out in Japan.
