topic^ Both franchises have helped MS in big ways and helped Microsoft shape what it is today as a gaming console company. You can say that these two are equal value but in your opinion, who is more valuable and why?

I say Halo because it was the very first franchise that MS helped become what it is today.

I agree Halo pretty much made the Xbox what it is today.

I'm sure 10 years from now Halo will be remembered more but at the moment I think Gears of War is more relevant.

Halo hands down, Gears will never be as popular since Halo had a jump start and larger community.  Look at how many people send fanfiction, photos affecting their lives and even composing their own music for the universe.  Though they are both powerful weapons in Microsoft arsenal.

Both Halo and Gears of War  both have great storylines but Halo can be expanded to different planets and universes. Which opens up the realm to many twist and tails of Master Chief.

Halo for sure.  Halo 1 was just too damn good.

I think Halo is more powerful and MS knows it since they decided against showing the new project at E3. They probably thought it would have overshadowed Gears 2 which is gunning to be their major system seller this holiday.

I just don't see Gears ever having the same power (moving consoles, creating hype) that Halo has.

Halo is the importent franchise right now but seeing as how they finished the fight and everybody is playing Cod 4 instead of halo. Gears could become the face of the 360 while the chief is floating around in space.

Halo is the most important franchise for Microsoft, its the biggest cash cow.

Definitely halo, but if gears were to become a good movie, things might change.

I don't really think someone can make a strong argument in favor of Gears.

I believe that Halo is by far the more valuable franchise with so much potential to expand the universe and all they've done with putting out books and comics.  There is so much more to see with Halo, possibly rivaling Star Wars one day.

Stop it. This isn't even close. I love me some Gears, but please don't try to compare it to entity that is Halo. Halo did so much for console gaming, its really indescribable. Halo is solely responsible  for making online and/or multiplayer popular on a console. IMO Gears wouldn't be around if not for Halo.

There are three Halo game that have been released which have all sold extreamly well. There has been one Gears of War game that has come out so far, it sold very well but not as well as Halo 3.

Halo. It's story is much deeper than Gears at the moment. That might change when Gears 2 comes out.

They are both such pivitol franchise for completely different reasons and the products that are coming out under these franchise are always polished and always do very well.

Apparently Gears since they allowed Bungie to go on their own. Even if they gave the Halo franchize to another dev under them, it wouldn't be the same. if they cared about Halo so much, they would of tried to make Bungie stay.

Halo no doubt.  But gears is a great series to.  They will both get pimped way to much over the coming years. If they haven't already.

No fable is just missing that "something" that makes a game a mega hit. Enjoyed the first one. Prob will enjoy the second. But that is it.

Halo 3's release changed the way video games were looked at. People camped out for days to get the game and it showed people's dedication to gaming. I think that down the road, it will be more memorable but we still need to see how Gears 2 turns out and maybe even Gears 3 before we can know for sure.

GoW. While Halo was valuable, GoW will be more valuable.

Halo, Halo, Halo.  It's been around longer and it helped launch the original Xbox system.

Halo for sure. Even Halo 2 was system seller for the 360. 

Halo by far...look at the books, CD's, and the shear size of the community. The Halo community blows every other game community out of the water.

Both are huge franchises and also console sellers.  Halo has been around longer so I feel that the fanbase is generally bigger for that game.  Gears is releasing their game this year so maybe that can change.   I also have a feeling on a possible Halo 4 in the works... Just a feeling!

Halo is much more valuable, it has more mainstream appeal.
