ITT: The Achievements you're proudest of unlocking
One of the few achievements I've really gone out of my way to get.
S Ranking Resonance of Fate and Castlevania: LoS.
I loved both games so didn't mind going after the 'S' rank. Resonance took some time grinding in the arena but wasn't too bad and it was only the timed trials in Castlevania that caused some problems.
" Little Rocket Man :o One of the few achievements I've really gone out of my way to get. "Same here. I have loads of achievements I am proud of because they were difficult, but this is the only achievement I can think of that changed my way of playing the game. I even fucked up the first time I tried it and went past the part where you put it in the rocket, so I did it twice.
Also Star 69 in MW2, although now a lot of people have it.
I am most proud of S ranking Halo 3, ODST, Wars, and Reach soon enough.
But if I had to narrow it down to a single achievement it would Smile for Geometry Wars, when I finally fucking get it.
" I am most proud of S ranking Halo 3, ODST, Wars, and Reach soon enough. But if I had to narrow it down to a single achievement it would Smile for Geometry Wars, when I finally fucking get it. "I've tried for Smile for fucking ever. I've come to the conclusion that I will never get it. Hell, I can't even seem to get Wax Off.
I'd have to say No-Hitter in Assassin's Creed 2. Not because it was hard, but because it was the last one I needed to S-Rank the game. I'm not much of an achievement whore.
Proud of achievements? Achievements play you, not the other way around. Being proud of slogging for 12 hours to get some stupid box ticked is like being proud of pouring a kettle of boiling water down every ants' nest in town. Pride should be about things you can tell your grandchildren about.
"Yeahh, when I were your age I spent almost 35 hours collecting all the feathers in this imaginary version of Renaissance Italy. It were an entirely dull and ultimately unrewarding process that brought nothing to the game itself but Ooooh the way my heart swelled with pride when I'd collected the last one and I saw that message pop up on the screen. It's not unlike the reward system used to make squirrels solve puzzles but unlike that it's not testing whether we have intelligence but whether we do not. Happy days, Simon, Happy Days."
" Little Rocket Man :o One of the few achievements I've really gone out of my way to get. "i did this achievement but didn't close the door in the end; it didn't register. gutted to this day.
i've S ranked every megadrive/genesis sonic game on xbox and sonic 4, but i don't think i'm particularly proud of that. i appreciate the irony of them being called achievements.
" @WickedFather: Ya know, this might sound crazy, but bear with me here. You don't necessarily have to comment on a thread if you click on it. You can just go about your business. Then everybody's happy. "Just like achievements, that's not optional.

"some achivements are just fun to go for, dude.
my proudest is probably Kings of Neverland, in Resonance of Fate; now that is a bonus dungeon that does not screw around, even if the final boss is a bit easy.
If the thread had been about which which achievements did you have most fun getting then I'd love that, I really would. But pride should be about special things, not this rediculous charade. And relax.
Ok, Fable 2 has achievements which actually benefit the game and you have fun doing them, but mostly:
1) Achievements are not option. No, they're not. Don't give me "If you don't like them then just ignore them" because for anyone remotely obsessive that isn't an option. I can't turn off the notifications without killing every other notification I actually want. If there were versions of a game you had to pay a bit more for that didn't have achievements I would pay it.
2) Achievements will make you do something you never thought of doing and you will do it even though there will be no pleasure in doing it. You're no longer playing a game, and idiotic and currently non-optional system is playing with you. So many achievements involve lengthy slogs - why do you think that is? Game manufacturers make most of their money through initial sales of a game. Achievements make people who want them hold onto their games longer meaning the trickle down into second hand sales is slowed. They're making more money but at the detriment of enjoyment by the consumer.
3) Yes, I know lots of you love them, but give those that don't the option to escape the madness. The issue is raised so much that you must realise it's a problem.

Eff off.
" If the thread had been about which which achievements did you have most fun getting then I'd love that, I really would. But pride should be about special things, not this rediculous charade. And relax."I really don't understand how you can say this is a "rediculous [sic] charade" and make such a big deal about it. Don't like it, don't post. Also, are you sure we are the one who need to relax? We were having a nice chat until you started calling names and questioning how we play our games.
If you don't like Achievements and would like to express your opinion in public, create a thread for it. But, please, don't hijack one that has nothing to do with it.
All Platinum Medals in Project Gotham Racing 3. Every couple of months that this thread comes up, it's always the same. I've encountered tough achievements since then, but nothing reminds me of how much I felt like I was learning to drive every car perfectly in order to get those.

I tried to do that recently enough, got bored, and gave up. The 'Cone' events were downright brutal and I couldn't even pass the first one. :(
Getting all Gold Medals on the Portal maps; Aperture Science has to be the achievement I'm most proud of.
