Should the 360 video marketplace have an adult section?

#1 Posted by FuNkYbOsS (26 posts) -

The 360 has very good parental control features.  What do you think?

#2 Posted by iam3green (14390 posts) -

lols i don't think so. i think that some 360 owners (12 year olds) don't h ave parental controls on. i think if Microsoft does do this then maybe they would sign up to some adult entertainment and get spam for thier email that is connected to thier live account.

#3 Posted by darthzew (304 posts) -

Look, if you want pornography... use the internet, a magazine, or your TV... Why should the 360 have porn on it too? There's enough of it already.

#4 Posted by Aljosa15 (315 posts) -

Absolutely not. Imagine the backlash from parents and douches like Jack Thompson.

#5 Posted by JoelTGM (5596 posts) -

Hah, right after Microsoft announces childish giggling little avatars, like they would suddenly announce an adult section in the marketplace full of whacky pornos.  I think they're trying to appeal to a more casual audience right now, like the kiddies and soccer moms.

#6 Posted by epic_pets (1339 posts) -

They should actually, adults would love it and they would probaly get alot of hits doing that.

#7 Posted by Pikachu (449 posts) -

no, that would be a bad idea, because people could easily get around the parental controls

#8 Posted by ajsuperstar (22 posts) -

To be honest, i wouldn't really want to see an adult section, but if there was one id imagine they would have lots of people paying for that service lol

#9 Posted by Otacon (2209 posts) -

A console that won't allow AO games isn't going to want adult movies. I don't think that it os appropriate.

#10 Posted by OblivionGuy07 (161 posts) -

what's tha use? Five year olds are screaming their asses off everytime I go on Xbox Live, and it's usually an M game I'm playing.

#11 Posted by twenty0ne (3071 posts) -

Definitely not. It would get abused by little pre-teens.

#12 Posted by Lairdo (543 posts) -

I think it would be pointless.

#13 Posted by DirrtyNinja (715 posts) -

Pay for porn? Hellz no

#14 Posted by Conner (88 posts) -

No. Kids would totally get by and get in trouble. Then all the parents would be mad.

#15 Posted by Scorched (691 posts) -

No
besides there is plenty of other ways to get that content
Microsoft would not want to deal with that
since gaming is looked at as something children do by non-gamers it would be looked down upon very badly by news organizations and would give them horrible press
it would be a disaster

We have computers for porn and it's free. Also No company would never release such a service on consoles.

#18 Posted by Malakhii (1443 posts) -

Dude, that seriously made me lol. Hellz no putting porn on the 360 would only hurt MS. All the negative press that would follow... definitely a hellz no

#19 Posted by tec3297 (1170 posts) -

Seriously, are you all porn addicts? lol There are way too many adult topics for a video game forum...

#20 Posted by MOLE (321 posts) -

If it did that would be super

I wouldn't mind a section like that, I get the luxery of having that on my LCD TV.  Beats a monitor any day.

#21 Posted by MisoRonery (468 posts) -

There is already a box for this for people too stupid to figure out how to find pornography on the internet, which is a mindblowing kind of stupidity I don't know if I can wrap my head around.

And yeah, as much as Microsoft wants to be representative of the, I hate myself for using this term, hardcore gaming demographic that is mostly composed of chronically masturbating males, they wouldn't touch this kind of publicity with a ten-foot lubricated pole.

#22 Posted by Vinchenzo (6192 posts) -

Wouldn't porn counteract the avatars? Unless the avatars got naked at night on your dashboard if you were [18+ Mature] approved.

#23 Posted by MAV3R1CK (125 posts) -

You have the internet for your needs, I don't see why it would want to have an adult content. Plus, MS is trying to get at the casual and hardcore gamers.

#24 Posted by Sentry (4197 posts) -

It's a video game system not a friggin 80s VHS video store

#25 Posted by Thunderbird (9 posts) -

Personally I think no it shouldn't and I am sure it never will especially with Microsoft trying to broaden the user base and get more casual players and movie renters and they want the 360 to be a family oriented media experience. It just isn't necessary...they have plenty of movies and if you want porn you can get it elsewhere but I have to say if they did I am sure they would get a nice little return in the form of money because there would be a ton of people who would use it to watch adult movies, too many.

#26 Posted by Prototype (82 posts) -

no because this would just be giving all of those Soccer mom's and Jack Thomson like people more firepower

#27 Posted by Timma1083 (566 posts) -

The Internet is your place for porn, not the 360.

#28 Posted by Jensonb (1743 posts) -

No, what's the point?

#29 Posted by Stray (117 posts) -

Plus there would be no real way to work around the license issue. When the d/l movies are limited to a 24 hour window it's pointless.
I was reading an article where it talked about all the PPV view adult movies in hotels, and it said the avg time a movie was on in a hotel room was like 12 min.
Kinda pointless really.

#30 Posted by Kenzo287 (722 posts) -

at first i was gonna say no...but then more parents who would catch this stuff on their kids' 360s would become more aware of the parental control features...then again they'd sue microsoft for their lack of common sense so...

#31 Posted by InnerBlueAbyss (125 posts) -

Please do, the console might have decent content after all

#32 Posted by Milkman (16687 posts) -

No thanks.

My sentiments exactly...
#35 Posted by p4ddym1607 (995 posts) -

I really dont think that would be a good idea. It would only bring negative comments about the 360 from groups of consumers. No point indeed.

#36 Posted by Rually (52 posts) -

^ funny article.

I dont think there should be an adult section. I doubt many parents use the parental controls since there are always outcrys over violence in games. So if parents buy whatever game for their kids regardless of EA rating, they probably aren't taking the time to set up parental controls on the 360.

Sexy pr0n should be free. :(

Jack Thompson got banned! But there's still soccer moms. :(
#39 Posted by Vlademir (1029 posts) -

No.

First of all, parental controls don't mean anything when 99% of parents don't even know how to turn on an 360 and the 360 is made for games and movies. Microsoft wouldn't ruin their reputation by allowing porn to be downloaded off of their console.

This^

Especially considering MSe's new casual push
#41 Posted by MikPick (333 posts) -

No store would sell it, they won't sell games that have porn, so why would they sell consoles with porn?

#42 Edited by Absinthetic (172 posts) -

who buys, or even rents, porn nowadays anyway?

#43 Edited by heretrix (84 posts) -

If you can't get free porn then you are doing a whole lot of things wrong. No, the marketplace doesn't need it.

#44 Posted by FuNkYbOsS (26 posts) -

Just for the record, I agree there shouldn't be an adult section.  I just wanted to open it up for debate.
I'm glad everyone can discuss it in a mature manner.... mostly!   haha

#45 Posted by BigDaddyJack (11 posts) -

If by adult contend you mean Playboy I would say no but stuff like Howard Stern on demand which has some nudity but no actual sex would be fine in my eyes. Also the parental controls are there to stop people from having there children see anything but I doubt this will ever happen

#46 Posted by Lies (3866 posts) -

 That would not end well.

#47 Posted by Breadfan (6589 posts) -

Really?  Just click out of Giant Bomb and go to Google. Problem solved

#48 Posted by DarkLegend (1387 posts) -

No, they really shouldn't.

#49 Posted by TheAdmin (712 posts) -

Probably not. The backlash from parent groups would probably be pretty high.
