At the moment, out of all 3 consoles, Microsoft arguably has the best game lineup IMO.  I've spent more time on my Xbox360 than on my PS3, and my Wii combined (although I have actually sold my Wii so I don't know if that counts)...anyway.

Xbox live, GOW,  Mass Effect, Carcasonne, etc etc.

So yeah, I like my Xbox360, but what shits me about it.  The hardware.  Lets ignore the fact that the console is unreliable and fails consistantly, but why is no one talking about how freakin' noisy this console is.  I saw a thread saying "What will be better FFXIII on 360 or PS3...I didn't respond but I will own it on the PS3 simply because it's a quieter!  Microsoft rushed a great console to market, they have so many things going for them, it was a pity that the hardware has failed them.

It's a sad day when console hardware will actually effect my platform choice for a game, a sad day indeed.

    Anyway that's my rant...

    I didn't want to.

EDIT - Also I'm interested in whether or not other people feel the same way, or it's not really an issue to them.

Yeah I dunno, I got mine back from a red ring and it's still humming fairly loudly. If I had a PS3 though, I think the gamercard would still keep me picking up 360 versions of games.

Who cares if it makes noise, for some people anyway (no problems here). Even all these problems still make the 360 a better console, go Xbox.

    He wanted attention probably.

So you don't like the 360 because it's loud? No offense, but that is a dumb reason not to like a console. Be glad yours hasn't got the RROD yet.

My hard drive is actually the noisiest thing for mine! I have no idea why but it just gradually gets louder over time and it can even drown out the DVD drive at times, it's really odd but it works fine.

I don't know why people complain about how noisy the 360 is. I don't even notice it (maybe i'm just lucky)? Be glad that you don't have a gaming computer with 5+ fans in it.

Yeah my sounds like a jet engine when a game starts up, i mean i try to keep the noise level of whatever im playing higher than that of the dvd drive and usually its a non-issue but the fact that this is a problem is really somewhat of an embarrassment, obviously should have been fixed before the console launch (among other hardware problems... yeah im on my 2nd box). But its still my favorite console, just like the OP, i do more gaming on it then my PS3 and Wii combined.

It's a trade-off.  The DVD drive would be quieter if it was slowed down, but that would effect load times and you'd see mandatory installs like on the PS3.  The fall ultra-update's new copy to hdd feature will largely resolve this issue though (if you want to splurge on the over priced 120GB hdd).

It's also important to note that if your 360 isn't in a well ventilated area the cooling fans will spin faster and as a result create more noise.

Well Xbox360 has got the RROD 3 times, but that's not the point I was trying to get across - still that was painful as mine died about 2 weeks outside of warranty and this stage MS hadn't announced the 3 year warranty situation.  Thankfully after a few emails, complaints to media outlets etc I got a call from Microsoft and got a new Xbox, which had a HDD failure :) lol

The copy to HDD option is great, and would love to use it if I didn't have to spend an absurd amount on a HDD for it.

Still, the comment some people have made about the newer consoles being quiet is interesting...hrm.

My 360 sounds like it's about to blast off into outer space when it really gets going. That is, until it broke for the third time.

The price of peripherals on the console is pretty insane, too, and Microsoft is the only company trying to push memory cards on a console that has USB ports.

Jesus Christ, do some of you ever get defensive over a video games console. Take that garbage to GameFAQs or some place.

Yeah, that's the thing that bothers me the most; sure it's not too bad when I can just whack the volume up and drown the noise out but I just can't do that at night when other people are trying to sleep; and I don't sleep like normal people do so by the time I get up I have to leave for work (I work evenings by the way). it's still as loud as it ever was after coming back from the red ringing. Can't wait for the new dash and the play from harddrive. The real kicker though, my sister's is almost silent.
