Microsoft has announced its release date for its new platform, Xbox One, and it's November 22.

The first markets to receive Xbox One are Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain, UK, and the US. Other markets are coming in a nebulous 2014 timeframe.

The company has also disclosed the CPU has moved from 1.6GHZ to 1.75GHZ. Specs!

Still on the fence about getting one. It's a lot of money, but I can't afford a new PC and I need something to play Battlefield 4 on.

Likely not actually overclocking. They were probably underclocking them previously in order to maintain thermal headroom to avoid another RROD issue. Will have to see how the thermals are after increasing, likely fine.

COD, BF4,AC all come first on ps4 than xboxone(15 22) in NA

I would stoked to hear this news but I'm already set on picking up a PS4. (That €100 difference...)

150MHz is such a trivial bump that it barely qualifies as a mild overclock. it's a marketing move more than anything else.

I was actually expecting them to try and get it out before the PS4. This surprises me.

It's only a 50 dollar different since I would have to get PS+ membership to play multiplayer and I already have a gold membership for 360. Plus I prefer the Xbox controller over the DualShock.

I'm Swedish and have been loyal to Xbox for years now. But right now I feel like just saying fuck it and just get a PS4. At least Sony seems to care about actually selling their product. I bet MS will lose a lot of potential customers by pushing the release date to an unknown date next year.

I'll play Dead Rising and Ryse.

@ghostchant: Anything under 2 GHZ is underclocking the Jaguar CPU. So they're just underclocking it less now. 1.6 GHZ was considered the sweet spot for cooling purposes, but now we can assume they're confident enough in their cooling setup that they can crank it up to 1.75 GHZ.

I'm pretty sure I'm getting an Xbox. I still have not committed. My hope that the cool indie stuff on PS4 like Transistor eventually come to PC or Xbone.

Well if you consider population those 7 countries contain 330 million of Europe's 740 million which is getting close to half.

As a fellow Swede, I don't see why ANYONE here would be so loyal to MS that they would put up with this shit.

wow, They either can't get it sooner or really like that date. Interested to how this turns out at release or even if they change the date don't think thats completely out of the question considering the huge changes so far.

All reports are that the PS4 and X1 controllers are on par with eachother, a few saying the PS4 is better.

Really, they only had to beat Black Friday, not Sony. I think at this point most people had made up their minds, and having to wait an extra week isn't going to make them change it.

I'm surprised at this timing. In the US (the obvious focus market), that is just one week before Black Friday. Will MS be able to restock shelves quickly enough after launch day to handle that crowd? Or will they be missing out on a huge commercial opportunity? Two weeks should be enough for Sony to get more PS4s out, so they may get the double bonus of releasing first and having stock for the Black Friday shoppers, while MS gets neither.

Yay! Now I'm wondering what two or three launch games are gonna be. I'm thinking between:

1. Battlefield 4
2. Need For Speed: Rivals
3. Dead Rising 3
4. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

@ghostchant: They can change their processor yields because the way chips are manufactured is that you look at the predicted tolerances and make an estimate, and then when you fabricate the chips you test them to see if they met those tolerances, and on average they can either beat or fail to meet those tolerances.

With regular PC hardware, after you've tested to see what the tolerances actually end up being after fabrication, you can take the components that failed and just downclock them or disable some components (logic paths or cores or cache or whatever depending on the architecture of the part) and just sell that as a lower end version of the same thing for less money. This is one of the fundamental reasons that overclocking works to begin with.

But with a console or embedded system, it's a crap shoot. You can't sell some Xbox One's at 1.6 ghz and some at 1.3 ghz, for example. So they probably made a more conservative estimate than a CPU or GPU manufacturer normally would, and were just going to downclock any chips that exceeded expectations. Apparently a much larger proportion of the yield exceeded expectations. Enough that they could just release all of the chips at 1.75 ghz instead of downclocking most of them.

Yep one week earlier for us Aussies too! This might even make me preorder one. Still no ps4 exclusives that matter to me anyways. New gen Forza however...

God, what a boring launch line-up...

I think most launch line-ups were/are straight-up crap, but this is just more motivation to wait until 2014 to pick up a console. Plus, we get to see if there are any hardware issues that plagued Microsoft's last launch.

Really didn't imagine them launching after PS4. I thought Jeff Gerstmann's idea was solid; launch on the 5th with Call of Duty. Probably won't really make a difference but that's some missed synergy.
