Sounds good to me so far! I'm glad you wrote a more in-depth article to contextualize the trailer (which looks great, but isn't exactly high on informative content ... as trailer tend to be). If Bulletstorm's gameplay is going to be as diverse as it sounds right now I'll probably be all over that game. I already like the look, weapons and humor as well as earlier People Can Fly games.

Stylish, ludicrous kills net big points in this ridiculously over-the-top first-person shooter.
Bulletstorm Goes Beyond The Headshot
Min-maxing isn't a design issue. It can be encouraged by a bad design or discouraged by a good design but you can't eliminate it by design altogether. You can incentivize players all you want but some of them will always find the most efficient (boring?) way through a game. Some people see experimenting as fun, other people see being 'efficient' as fun. In games like this, balancing weapons and combo rewards etc. is a design issue. Player preference is not.
The gameplay in this trailer didn't show a single 'scenario' which couldn't be handled with a simple headshot. Personally I would love to experiment with all the weapon combinations but (judging by the trailer again) there's nothing to stop a player from becoming extremely good with the assault rifle and headshotting his whole way though the game. No matter how great the design, it's still up to the player's creativity to experience the best a game has to offer.
Since I like People Can Fly (I was a big fan of Pain Killer, despite the day one bug that makes it not run- that my PC retail copy still has and I have to patch when I install it) I am defintiely looking forward to this. I cant help but think this will never be as big as the most popular shooters out there today, but with good multiplayer, co-op, and a decent game design, it is definitely a game I could get into. We'll see. Again, I am loking forward to what this game will be. I might get back into FPSing again.
Not necessarily the biggest Epic fan in the world, but this does look pretty fun. I'm interested to see what exactly the "points" you're earning do.
Even a better example over Bioshock (my favorite game this gen): The Darkness. Those abilities you could use with the Darkness made sure you used more than just guns in the game. I felt like I used all four elements very equally, as they each had specific uses, but it felt like the game made you use them a bunch.
In my opinion, it's the most underrated/overlooked game this generation.
Man, where's The Darkness 2???
I think the players who don't want to roll through getting head shots get their 60 bucks worth, and that's what it's about. A video game is your experience, if you want your experience to be boring go for it. Separately, from what I can tell this game doesn't do anything new or different, and def nothing against running through getting head shots. Why do creative stuff for upgrades if the first few guns work fine for head shots? Other games have incorporated systems that reward more points for using more abilities to kill an enemy. I'll keep an eye out though, wait for more details. Cool lookin game for sure
" ...It's not entirely unlike 2008's The Club... "
Shit.

What I got was a game very much akin to Bioshock -- a story-driven, atmospheric first-person shooter that combines regular gunslinging with supernatural powers -- only far better.
Starbreeze recently stated that right now, they don't have any plans to make a sequel. I hope they make one in the future... The Darkness is my favorite first-person shooter of all time, save for Half-Life 2.
This looks great but I'm far more interested in Bulletstorm's multiplayer component. I want this to be the next UT-like frag fest from Epic. The MW/Battlefield model is fun but why aren't there any popular twitch-based alternatives anymore ?
Something with crazy, over-the-top weapons and fast movement that still utilizes player incentives with unlocks and some form of persistence. Something to bridge the gap between Quake 3 and MW2.
LOL funny...I'm getting it...what bought me was the torturing at the end of the trailer with the i guess "Wrap" bomb when he was screaming LOL Classic
"Stop screaming, hi HI, stop screaming trying to ask you something............... iight then [explode] now where's that bathroom"
I'm not sure how I feel about this game from the trailer, will have to wait and see on this one.
Oh, what an entirely new concept.
First person shooters suck! Is this where gaming is going now? Never not shooting games? F***in ridiculous. I swear if I don't start seeing some variety from devs by the start of next year, I'm out, done with games forever, publishers can suck my balls but they ain't getting my money! I hope the gaming industry burns to the ground!!
It's strange. I'm a great advocate of on-screen UI, but the mass of text in some of the screenshots I've seen seems a little off-putting. I love the idea of creative killing for points though.
i remember you ranting about this headshot business on the bombcast. its a good point and im really surprised at how quickly your problem has been seemingly resolved with this new game.
I think that re-gen. health has it's place in Halo and CoD... but it's frustrating that all shooters seem to have followed they're example. I'm glad games like bulletstorm continue to try and break the mold. Although headshots totally have they're place... I just think after so many FPS games... Everyone is alittle bored of the same old crap. It's not that re-gen health and headshots that are the problem... it's boredom.
Now I know you love video games, and I asked the clerk which is the one every boy wants. *hands you the latest Tiger Woods*" Buy me Bulletstorm, or GO TO HELL "
It looks cool. Now, will it do justice, or will it flop? I really hope it will do justice, because I can't lie.. it looks fun as fuck. However as we all know, looking good and playing good isn't the same thing. A game can look so-so, but playwise it can be awesome. And in my opinion, gameplay comes before looks. What is your opinion on that, guys and non-guys?
I absolutely loved The Club, it always puzzled me why it flopped so badly. I thought that game was a real breath of fresh air at the time.
