I can recall finishing at least 31 games this year. I feel like that's a pretty big amount of time I've devoted to video games this year. So much so that I felt like gauging the GB community to get a rough idea how crazy I am relative to you guys.

Anyway, I made a list of the games I definitely remember completing from start to finish along with the years the games were released.

*(indicates a re-release)

In no particular order-

1.Dark Souls - 2011

2. Mirror's Edge - 2008

3. Ico - 2011/2001*

4. MGS4 - 2008

5. MGS2 - 2012/2001*

6. MGS3 - 2012/ 2004*

7. God of War 3 - 2010

8. Darksiders 2 - 2012

9. Rayman Origins - 2011

10. Assassin's Creed 2 - 2009

11. Assassin's Creed 3 - 2012

12. Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - 2010

13. Xcom: Enemy Unknown - 2012

14. Alpha Protocol. -2010

15. Pikmin 2 - 2009/2004*

16. No More Heroes - 2007

17. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past - 1991

18. Day of the Tentacle - 1993

19. Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy - 2012/2001*

20. Mass Effect 3 - 2012

21. Persona 3 FES - 2012/2008*

22. Beyond Good & Evil HD - 2011/2003*

27. Hitman: Absolution - 2012

28. Jumping Flash - 1995

29. Pokemon: White Ver. 2 - 2012

30. Far Cry 3 - 2012

31. Need for Speed: Most Wanted - 2012

Hmm... I'd probably guess around 20-25. Been a good year, although a little lighter than usual. Guess I spent too much time playing stuff like Binding of Isaac and Audiosurf.

So I am really bad about finishing games. The only big ones that come to mind right now are XCOM, Xenoblade, and Devil Survivor Overclocked. I think that will be my new years resolution, to beat more games and also keep a list. Oh oho hoho oh, I also beat Link to the Past for the first time ever this year! That counts for something right?

According to my Backloggery page, I've completed 113 games this year. But, I've gotten 152 new games, so a net loss of 39 :(

Keep in mind, this includes DLC stuff separately (and something like The Walking Dead would show up as 5 different episodes), but still...I think I might have a problem.

Less than I'd like to have. I'll post the full list when I can get back to my computer.

EDIT: Here it is:

  1. Bulletstorm
  2. Darksiders
  3. Max Payne 3
  4. Sleeping Dogs
  5. Batman Arkham Asylum
  6. Just Cause 2
  7. Saints Row the Third
  8. Doom 3 PC (and Xbox)
  9. Syndicate
  10. Mass Effect 3
  11. Doom 1
  12. Chrono Trigger
  13. Far Cry 3
  14. Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

I'm feeling like there are things that I'm not remembering, but I can't remember what they are...

Note that this only includes games that I've beaten this year for the first time. Not games that I've beaten this year for the second or third time. I like to replay some games often, and some games I replay almost every year, so I've done more gaming than just this. Still, my backlog is chock full of stuff.

Wow 31 games, I'm not sure what is the most I've ever done in a year 28 maybe? Not really sure I didn't keep track of stuff like that when I was younger, although now I wish I had.

Definitely not going to come close this year although I got my gaming groove back a bit, I can think of 15 which is the most I've done in a good long while. I'm probably low compared to a lot of people.

If you count games I sunk a lot of time into but didn't or have not yet finished the list is about 20.

GameRelease Year
Limbo2010
Breath of Death Vii2010
Secret of Monkey Island : Special Edition2009/1990*
Super Smash Bros. Brawl2008
Street Fighter IV2009

Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, Darksiders, and Spec Ops: The Line.

I spend a whole lot more of my time watching videos here and shopping for games than I do actually playing them.

Holy long lists!

1. Bejeweled 3

Good little time waster

2. Everyday Genius: SquareLogic

Most hours I've spent on any non mmo

3. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

Good game, not balanced very well, play it on hard.

4. Bone: Out from Boneville

Love the Bone comic, hope these Telltale games get better though

5. Bone: The Great Cow Race

No end uggghhh

6. Strong Bad's Cool Game for Attractive People Episode 1: Homestar Ruiner

Better than Bone mechanically, not much else to say.

7. Mass Effect 3

Ending was fine, I liked ME2 better and ME1 still favorite in series. Felt really short, I did absolutely everything and I still felt like huge portions of the game were missing. 360 can't handle this game, play it on PC. First DLC is integrated very well in the main game, still don't feel that it was worth it though.

8. Diablo III

I had fun with it, not sure if I'll continue on with it though, too many other games to finish.

9. Orcs Must Die! 2

Adds to everything I loved from the first game. Only criticism; the campaign is really short and it's really co-op focused.

10. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

I started this game 4 years ago, finally powered through it and finished it today. It's funny playing through this after Mass Effect 1-3, this game truly is Mass Effect Zero. Graphics are pretty good considering it's age, but the actually gameplay is pretty brutal; also extremely hard in parts, fu Darth Bandon! I worry that the alien language voiceovers will haunt my nightmares... Ubba Jubba wita wan... Bioware/Lucasarts; I have no idea who is to blame, but fix the movie bug with this game! Playing this without the movies is like listening to a one-sided conversation, getting only half the story, when your game is entirely story driven, that is a huge problem.

11. XCOM: Enemy Unknown

Fastest I've finished a game this year, done within the first week. Good game, difficulty is overstated by most people.

12. Sleeping Dogs

I'm thinking this is my favorite game this year by far, strange that I don't usually even like these open world games.

13. Assassin's Creed

Not bad, I would have played this game a lot sooner if I had know Kristen Bell was in it. Really looking forward to AC2 if this is the bad one...

14. Assassin's Creed II

Great game, looks 100x better than AC1, but otherwise I think I prefer the story in AC1, looking forward to more.

15. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood

Still enjoying this series, but I still like the first one best. Technically they get more proficient with each game, but the story is just getting worse, not that it's bad, I just liked 1 best, 2 was fine, this one, well not much story here...

16. The Walking Dead

Great story, but not much of a game. Least scary iteration of The Walking Dead.

I'm halfway through Assassin's Creed: Revelations and I'm intending to finish that and both Assassin's Creed III and Assassin's Creed III: Liberation before the end of the year, it's going to be tight, but starting and finishing the Assassin's Creed franchise this year is my goal.

I've kept a list for a few years now. 2012 has about 25 odd.

* F.E.A.R 3 - finished 22nd Jan 15:50. Pointman on Commando (2/4 skill). So short but a nice enough bit of shoot.

* Dead Space 2 - started 23rd Dec, then fully 3rd Feb, finished 9th Feb 19:30. Then got a mod save to get both hard achievements. Enjoyed the game by getting a save where I didn't have to get X kills with Y weapon and that made it loads better because I went straight back to my save later and didn't have to think about shit like that. Still hatin the cheevos. Good game.

* Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands Wii. Finished 19th Feb 22:39. Liked it. The create a handle thing was wow.

* Shadows of the Damned finished 23rd Feb 18:40. Good tale, annoying control de-bouncing. Worth the ride. 7.5/10

* Borderlands. Fin main 4th Mar, Zombie Island 5th Mar and I'm done. It's a very dull experience.

* Kane and Lynch 2 finished 12th Mar 2012 16:00. Skill to normal after 3 levels. Bullet sponge annoyance, no variation whatsoever. Not completely terrible.

* Dark Sector - started 12th March, Finished 14th March 17:45. It was alright, better than I expected.

* Fear 2 - finished 19th Mar 5pm. Alma gives you the old captive pants dance, woohoo! It was alright enough.

* Prince of Persia Forgotten Sands started 19th Mar, finished 22nd Mar 21:00 [4/5]. It was easy, some nice platforming. Combat was pointless and some annoying shit where the teleport jump wouldn't work. The 'nice' prince is back but dresses like a pervert and looks like he's got lion face. Some dialogue attempts at capturing the banter of the first which is a good thing.

* Gemini Rue - finished 20th Mar 1:55am. It was ok. It had a nice little plot that's better than a lot of sci-fi junkers out there but as a whole it was a bit of a chore to play. 3/5.

* Army of Two - finished main missions 25th and 2 DLCs 26th Mar. Servers off so no co-op. It was ok, passed the time. 3/5

* Bastion - Meh.

* Army of Two 40th Day - Ok. Only did one mission with Marty. I preferred doing it by myself.

* Medal of Honour Airborne - It was ok. Only really found controls that worked right before the end.

* Saints Row 2 - Finished 15th May. Really liked it even though it was a bit empty.

* Castlevania Lords of Shadow - so fucking annoying. Starting after death and skipping cutscenes defaults to No.

* Fable III finished started 21st Jun 2011, fin 14th Jun, divved around for another 3 days before saying bye. Nowhere near as good as 2.

* Deus Ex: Human Revolution start 18th Jun fin 29th June. Nice atmosphere and music. Left like a PC game, a real game. I sneaked until peeked and still tried not to kill. Pretty good 7/10.

* Mario Tennis (n64) Put in enough hours for it to count. Singles with all characters, special cups with one.

* Paper Mario (n64) started 1st July 17:50 finished 15th Sept ish. Really enjoyed it.

+ 2nd runthrough of Gears 3 with Angel and Scuddy. I think I enjoyed it the most. We couldn't beat the last boss so put it to Normal.

* Rochard (pc) - finished 1st Oct 16:25. Enjoyed it once I'd got xpadder and a controller S working with it.

* Jak and Daxter - started 6th Oct finished 9th Oct 3.03am. Fun at start, bad camera made it almost drag, checkpointing in Citadel a bitch. Glad I played it.

* Jak 3 finished 17th Oct 1am. Angry at first by the constant driving and arena fights. Fucking hate hoverboard, want to fuck Ashelin. Lots of pointless minigames some truly awful checkpointing but at the end it gets satisfying because of the story.

* Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway. 2nd playthrough finished 21st Nov. This game has so many mechanics that are almost neglected today. Sometimes you're commanding three squads of three men and if you need to any one of those squads to pin you against a wall so you can't run to cover this game is for you. If you tell them to follow you and you plant a bomb on a big gun and run off they'll sometimes run around that gun like it's a maypole and 8 of the 9 will die. If you need a superfluous pistol that you'll never want to fire and hampers your weapon changes slam down your fucking money and demand this game. Best of all getting the drop on a pair of Nazis who area facing away from you when you're two metres away, you looking down the sights and shooting off a whole drum of Tommy Gun rounds; them turning and killing you - fucking amazing even the third time it happens on the same checkpoint.

Story is great, or at least I thought it was because I couldn't understand half of it and just assume I'm in the wrong.

* Fez finished 4th Dec. Amazing. Got all gold cubes and 27 anti-cubes before being tempted to take a look at solutions.

I bought a pack of ~90 games from Gamersgate for like £10 and maybe beat 3 of them? I only bought it for like 3 games though, but that still put my percentage of completed/purchased real low.

1. Uncharted: Golden Abyss

Eh... I got it because it was one of the few games I was interested in for the Vita. I can't say it's all that great, to be honest. It's decent for a handheld, but it naturally draws comparisons to Uncharted 2 and 3, and compared to those games it feels kind of like a slightly better Uncharted 1. Not bad for a handheld game, but be warned - it ain't no PS3 uncharted.

2. Lumines: Electronic Symphony

It's Lumines. It's alright. Again, got it because, what else was there for the Vita?

3. Touch My Katamari

Pretty funny for a while, but it does get boring. Still, not bad for a downloadable title.

4. Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning

A singleplayer MMO experience. It's got content, it's got decent mechanics but it is utterly, utterly, UTTERLY soulless. I cared about NONE of the characters, world or plot. I'll concede that it is a very interesting world that they've crafted, but after 10 hours of playing, I was just on autopilot for the rest of the game. It's not bad - but it really does feel like a single-player MMO.

5. Mass Effect 3

While not as good as ME2, it was stunningly brilliant for 85% of its length. But the last 30 minutes really did hurt it. I'm not one of those "change the ending" types, but the ending, in my opinion, really did suck. Still, everything BEFORE the ending was pretty damn awesome, and I haven't forgotten that. And the multiplayer still has me playing it, so it must have done something right

6. Unit 13

Kind of boring, to be honest. Uncharted is a better shooter. The AI in the game is messed up as well.

7. Fez

Great game, but only if you don't mind difficult puzzles and backtracking. This is a game that requires patience, and a lot of time. Don't play it if you don't have either of those two.

8. Journey

I don't want to spoil it. Absolutely beautiful. Stunning. Marvelous. Worth the price. And I will buy anything the creators of this game put out in the future.

9. Prototype 2

It's Prototype 1 with a black guy as the hero. While he is more interesting than Mercer, the game is.... well.... I mean, it's Prototype 1 with a black guy as the hero instead of a white guy. That is all you need to know about this game. Did you really like Prototype 1? This game is like that almost exactly.

10. Diablo III

Addictive. Fun. But I doubt I'll play it past 2012.

11. Max Payne 3

Great singleplayer experience, but the multiplayer is only decent. Really enjoyed Max's journey. Not quite sure if it was worth the price I paid, but it runs really well on the PC, which is a pleasant surprise. Fans of MP1 and MP2 won't really like this game, but I never liked the original Max Payne games, so I enjoyed this one immensely. The mechanics are as solid as a rock for the most part.

12. Sid Meier's Civilization V: Gods & Kings

A nifty expansion - worth the price considering how much stuff they added to it. Still won't please the die-hard Civ IV fans, but for those who like Civ 5, this expansion is worth getting. Spies, Religion, reworked tech-tree, combat mechanics, naval mechanics, new civs, new units, new resources.... it's worth the price, if you like Civ. And if you don't, well, don't buy it!

13. Trine 2

Got this for cheap on the Steam Sale..... it's alright. I'm not a fan of platformers, however, regardless of how good they are. It controls well, looks great for a relatively small game and it's probably worth the price I paid for it.

14. Super Monday Night Combat

Great game, but not easy to get into. It's also free to play, so there's that. Unlike a lot of F2P games, this isn't "pay-to-win". The starting classes are perfectly useful and they rotate classes. The paid stuff is mostly cosmetic, and it's ludicrously overpriced, so don't bother, unless you really care what your digital dude looks like in his digital world.

15. DEFCON: Everybody Dies

Aptly named game. Even though it came out in 2006, it still works, mostly because I haven't seen anything like it. While there is a certain amount of strategy involved, this is no Starcraft II. It mostly serves as a grim yet fascinating view of how a global nuclear war would look from the view point of a command centre. Surprisingly emotional, when you stop to think about what the flickering lights and dots actually represent.

16. Saints Row: The Third

Better than GTAIV, that's for sure. Game of the year for 2011? No - Skyrim was better. A lot of the humour of Saint's Row just... falls completely flat for me. Its attempts at satire are extremely clumsy. But the gameplay is better than GTAIV's, the game runs smooth as hell on the PC and there's quite a bit of content. It is undeniably misogynistic in parts, and that's not good.

17. Super Monkey Ball 3D

This game came with my 3DS. I suppose if you like this sort of game, it's fine. I, however, do not. The controls also seem fiddly. If you try to use the motion sensor to control the ball, you have to turn the 3D off, and the control stick isn't good enough to control the ball with the amount of accuracy I like. It's alright, but I certainly won't be beating this game anytime soon (EDIT: I did in fact beat it. Because I was bored as hell)

18. Super Mario 3D Land

Pretty fun. The levels are just the right length and they can get somewhat challenging towards the end of the game. I have issue with some of the movements that Mario can make and I dislike how Mario can go "off-screen" when jumping, but overall it's good. The 3D stuff really is just a gimmick, though.

19. Borderlands 2

A highly addictive game, really liked the humour and it is one of my favorite games of the year. Very well done, Gearbox, very well done.

20. Dead Island

Did not enjoy this. But it cost only 8 dollars, so it doesn't matter.

21. XCOM: Enemy Unknown

Absolutely fantastic. Never played the original. Was glad that I brought this.

22. Torchlight II

Decent. I still think Diablo III has better mechanics and gameplay, but TL2 is decent enough. Cheap, too.

23. Hotline Miami

Weird, Brutal, Tension-filled and exciting. Not quite sure what the plot tried to convey, but the gameplay is pretty good. Not one, however, to play when one's parents are around. Quite good, really.

24. Call of Duty: Black Ops II

Got this because someone else got it for me as a gift. I was surprised at how much effort Treyarch put into this game. They really, really tried to make a more compelling single player campaign. It doesn't entirely work, but the effort is appreciated, and if they continue down this same path, CoD has a bright future ahead of it. The Multiplayer is a LOT better than MW3s - which was almost broken in my opinion. Overall, a solid effort, but if you don't like CoD (and that's fine), this game probably won't change your opinion of CoD

25. Halo 4

Got this for the co-op. Not as good as Halo 3. Not as bad as I thought it would be, but it feels a bit.... lacking. The story made next to no sense to me, since I only played Halo 1 and 3 and never bothered with any of the expanded universe nonsense. In terms of gameplay, it's fine. Challenging only if you turn it up to Heroic though. 343 made some noise about adjusting the difficulty so that Normal was really Normal, but no - Normal for Halo games is the Easy Mode in Halo 4. It's alright. Ends anticlimatically. Doesn't last all that long, if you play it on normal. Does little new, but gets the basics down pat. It's a Halo game. Just not as good as Halo 3.

26. Far Cry 3

It is everything I liked about Far Cry 2 minus everything I hated about Far Cry 2. It is a very good game, and I am very glad that I played it. The story might be slightly-racist, white-man-saving-the-savages empowerment fantasy dreck, but I appreciate that they tried, and the writing is fairly good too. But the important thing is that it plays very, very well.

27. Pushmo

Known as Pullblox in Aussieland, this game gets very hard very fast. Entertaining, with good controls and a ton of content for only 9 dollars, this game is worth it.

28. Crashmo

Again, different name here in Aussieland - Fallblox, which is much crappier than Crashmo. This game is even harder than Pushmo. Puzzle fanatics only.

Good question. I know I've played a lot of games but don't think I finished a large percentage of them. Let's see:

Darkness 2

Catherine

Resident Evil Revelations

Shank2

Resident Evil ORC

GR: Future Soldier

Max Payne 3

Lollipop Chainsaw

Spec Ops The Line

Prototype 2

Deadlight

Darksiders 2

Resident Evil 6

Dishonored

Mario Bros U

Wow, 15 games out of (give or take) 40 played. Not a great record... :-|

Actually completed? Basically none compared to how many I own. I am on the last mission of Xcom so I can't count that yet so basically:

FTL: Faster Than Light (if you can even count that. I have beat the game a ton, but never got all the ships yet)
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (twice, first on iOS, then on DS)
Super Mario World (I bought a SNES and this came with it. I could play this game blindfolded I've beat it so many times)
Dead Island
Diablo III
Burnout Paradise (AGAIN)

That is about it. I play 70% SC2, 10% DOTA2 and the rest other games so I don't exactly complete a lot. I could be done Xcom in about an hour and I probably will do that later today. I am doing my yearly Ocarina of Time playthrough right now, this time on 3DS. I also just started Super Mario 3D land and absolutely adore it.  I also need to finish Super Mario RPG, A Link to the Past, Donkey Kong Country, The other Ace Attorney games, Binary Domain, Borderlands 2 (if I can bring myself to do that), and Forza 4 (which I am nearly done all the single player races. That game is time consuming). After this Steam Christmas sale I am not allowing myself to buy new PC games until I finish a good portion of my catalogue, so that will probably be a year or more at this point (I am sitting at 244 games currently). I am only allowing myself to get stuff for my 3DS and my SNES next year except GTA V.

It will be no easy task to get through my Steam catalogue given the gigantic number of rather lengthy games I have. Dragon Age: Origins, Mass Effect, Fallout: New Vegas, Morrowind, Oblivion (I have beaten it before but not the DLC so I am going to do that. I still have a place in my heart for that game), Fable: Lost Chapters, Fable 3, both Witchers. And that is just some of the RPGs. I also want to play through Sins of a Solar Empire: Trinity, Assassin's Creed: Revalations, Bastion, the Bioshocks, Bully, the COH expansions, Crysis and Warhead, Dark Souls (HA!), DOOM, DOOM 2, DOOM 3 and Resurrection, Darksiders, Dead Rising 2 (actually I more just want to play the original again. That game was so amazing), Dirt 2 (which I have been chipping away at for years), Hotline Miami, LA Noire (the DLC. I beat the main game. I enjoyed LA Noire immensely. I love mysteries), Metro 2033, the Monkey Islands, Empire: Total War (now that my PC can run it. I used to have a dual card setup and that game didn't work with those), Portal 2 (yeah I know), STALKER: COP (I am getting close to done it but still have a ways to go. So much fun), Saints Row 2, Sleepy Dawgs (I got it on that $13 deal on GMG), SPAZ, Jedi Academy (and maybe Jedi Knight II again. I loved that game), the KOTORS (gotta go back to my roots sometime.), the newer Splinter Cells (I have only played up to Pandora Tomorrow), Torchlight 2, SHOGUN 2, Train Simulator 2013 (LOL), and World In Conflict. That is only the surface and is the games I want to play most, I still have another 100 and something games after that.

Oh and then all the GOG stuff, which is basically Infinity Engine RPGs like Icewind Dale, Icewind Dale 2, Baldur's Gate. Planetscape Torment, and then others like SimCity 2000, Theme Hospital, Legend of Grimrock, and Fallout. I also want to finish Neverwinter Nights 2, which I own on Mac through the App Store since it was on for a dollar.

28. God of War III

I knew I should have kept a list, like in previous years. Let's see if I can remember most of them:

2012 Games:

 - Mass Effect 2(I think...)
 - Mass Effect 3
 - Max Payne 3
 - Diablo 3
 - Sleeping Dogs
 - Borderlands 2
 - Saint's Row 3(for a second time, I think..)
 - Xcom: Enemy Unknown

That's about it I guess, at least as I can remember. I've played a lot of, NBA2K12, FIFA 12 and 13, MW3 and Football Manager 12 and 13 this year aswell, so most of my time has been dedicated to these games.

According to my list it's been 15 games, but I think that it's actually a bit more. I only started keeping track of the list in the last few months of the year so I think there were other games I'm forgetting about.

Games I beat in 2012

List of games that I completed in 2012 in no particular order.

1. XCOM: Enemy Unknown
2. The Simpsons Game
3. Vanquish
4. Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
5. Orcs Must Die! 2
6. Sid Meier's Civilization V
7. Bastion
8. Binary Domain
9. Dishonored
10. Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City

Lost and the Damned Only

11. Assassin's Creed: Revelations
12. Assassin's Creed III
13. Little Inferno
14. The Walking Dead
15. Far Cry 3
