Well according to the actual definition of a "sandwich," which is two slices of bread with meat, cheese/condiments in between them, yes, a hamburger is a sandwich.

I can't see how anybody would think a hamburger could be anything other than a sandwich.

Things between two pieces of bread are sandwiches. Soup and cereal are the same thing. Coffe and tea are the same thing.

As much as I hate to say it a hamburger is a beef sandwich and a hotdog is a wiener sandwich.

Clam chowder can be made out of milk or cream and you can put milk in tomato soup and those are just off the top of my head.

If you slice the hot dogs in half, then lay them out on the bread, that would be a sandwich.

Now, if you are saying that a traditional style hot dog is a sandwich, that is incorrect. The proper definition of a sandwich is that it is meat and condiments between TWO pieces of bread means that a traditionally made hot dog does not get classified as a sandwich since a hot dog bun is ONE piece of bread wrapped around the hot dog.

Hamburgers were named after the place they were invented: Hamburg, Germany.

So the only logical conclusion is that a hotdog is a sub sandwich. I don't see how ordering a "hotdog sub" would be different than ordering a hotdog. So i guess it's technically a kind of sandwich.

THANK YOU!!! I've been trying to explain that to people for years. IMO, any mean, veggies, and/or condiment between bread is a sandwich. Just like putting Felafel in Pita is a sandwich.

ham·burg·er (hmbûrgr) also ham·burg (-bûrg)

n.1.a. Ground meat, usually beef.

b. A patty of such meat.

2. A sandwich made with a patty of ground meat usually in a roll or bun.

If hamburger is a word, and a hamburger is also a sandwich, why does the word hamburger exist? With that logic I say a hamburger (anything with a beef patty) is a hamburger, and every other meat in sliced form, is a sandwich.

Yes. I define sandwich as any kind of meat between two pieces of bread.

Therefore, I do not consider the Subway Veggie Delight sub a sandwich.

Good Sir! myself and master Darcy must scoff at this and lay down our scones and muffins and point you at the quintessentialy English Cucumber Sandwich. It's an entirely dissapointing and watery tasting morsel but nevertheless! a sandwich in name!

A hamburger is a subset of a sandwich. Anything between two pieces of sliced bread or in a bun or English muffin is a type of sandwich.
