Gran Turismo 5 is the fifth edition in the long running racing game series by Polyphony Digital. The game sports over 1000 vehicles, damage modeling on race cars, a dedicated television channel, lots of races, 16 player online multiplayer, and active weather.

hmm, kinda curious on the Black Ops thing. Yes, everyone agrees Black Ops will sell well, but this game doesn't directly compete with it and people have been waiting forever to get their hands on it. If they don't make holiday then I think they may take a bit of a hit on the numbers that they'd expect it to do with or without a launch near Black Ops.

Has to be it considering review copies are already being sent out. According to Eurogamer, Medal of Honor will be the first PS3 game to be encrypted against Jailbreak. Perhaps they're having problems implementing it with GT5.
Then again, someone could be suing them over racetrack flags again.
PD can go eat a dick. It's getting a bit ridiculous now. With this precedent, who's to say there won't be further delays. I don't even care that much, but really, less than a month a way you give us another delay.
This is unacceptable does polyphony not consider the consequences of their actions when they do things. I mean, this is shaving initials into people's body hair for christs sake! Oh the humanity! NO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Saw this early this morning and was totally bummed. if it doesn't ship this year then i'm over it and will just get it when it goes greatest hits. Not that I don't want the game I am just so damn frustrated with the constant delays that i kind of don't want to hear or see anything about the damn thing till it's in my PS3
It figures they would delay the game the day after I finally go and reserve it in full. Sigh... I was looking forward to playing the technological showcase of my 46" 3DTV, Force Feedback steering wheel/pedals, and head tracking camera.
And let's leave it with that. As ppl in general dont know what thats like. Its out when its out(i hope they stay true to the before xmas thingy) and we get it then. No biggy.

I'm going to go out a limb here and say that if it was supposed to come out Nov 2nd, then the game is probably already "gold" as in...on a disc. They would have to make all those copies and ship them in less than a month otherwise...
Which leads me to the point of saying, they're probably not still "working" on the game. They might have a few bugs to squash with a launch day patch, but the full thing is probably done they just wanted to get the game out of a release date with some other big game/ PS exclusive that is shipping on the same day. If there isn't...then there must be some other reason.

I'm one of those people who will buy a PS3 when GT5 comes out, just like I did for the PS2 and GT4. That said, there are certain bugs I could live with until a patch. I'd totally buy both even if the game had a bug involving grid girls stuck in full on Game Room/NBA Elite 11 style poses. You know, as long as the physics engine reacted properly when I went through them at 200MPH entering the second lap. Just put it out now Polyphony!

Actually, Fallout: New Vegas went gold (or at least was announced as such) on October 1st and its release date is October 19th. That said, GT would need more copies and New Vegas has a staggered release in the world regions (I forget if this was the case for GT5)... "Returning to Twitter for the first time since September 22, Yamauchi apologized to fans today and explained that the reason for the delay was that it was taking some time to finalize some of the game's more complicated systems. Apologizing again (two apologies in the same Tweet!), he asked that players wait a bit more.
Yamauchi quickly followed up this apology with some good news for those worrying that this delay will take the game to 2011. A follower pleaded with him to get the game out by the end of the year. "I believe we won't keep you waiting until then," replied Yamauchi."
OMFG polyphony your game will never be perfect just release the freaking game or people will stop giving a shit. It's like a game now, every time they get close to finishing they push it back more.
Looking at it from a business viewpoint this is the last thing Sony need. No real exclusive PS3 title for this Christmas to help convert PS3 sales. If they are going to rely on Move then it isn't going to be particularly pretty for them in the two key territories where they are already lagging behind MS [uk and us].
Combine that with the annoyance of their retail partners who already will have planned earnings for this quarter around the delay of LBP2 and now GT5. Not a great situation to be hitting the holiday season in.
It's not a good sign for the game, when you consider what a mess Gran Turismo PSP was I think we have reason to cautious with GT5.
I'll admit that I've never really understood the passion fans have for the franchise, often found the actual racing to be absolutely boring but it still sucks for those looking forward to this game.
I'm sorry, but GT5 is officially a joke. I almost don't care if its the greatest racing game ever. The way polyphony is handling all this is ridiculous, and, well, rude! Perfectionism is a dangerous trait.
