The man who calls himself Kane, the mysterious and shady but charismatic leader of the terroristorganization known as theBrotherhood of Nod, is the central character of the 'Tiberium' games in the Command & Conquer franchise. He appears to die on multiple occasions in the course of the series, but so far has survived every time. As Kane himself says,"you can't kill the messiah." In both endings of Command & Conquer 4, Kane is shown to ascend, and as such is alive, presumably on the Scrin homeworld, though his location remains unknown.
The part of Kane has been played byJoe Kucan for sixteen years, which, according to Guinness World Records makes him the second longest running actor in a video game role, surpassed only by Ed Boon, who has portrayed Scorpion in the Mortal Kombat series for twenty years running.
Some theorists believe that Kane could be, or at least reference "Cain" from the Bible. In the Christian and Jewish beliefs, Cain killed his brother, Abel, and was doomed to wander the earth (Presumably forever). He settled the land of "Nod". Adam & Eve's third son, born after Abel's death, was named "Seth". Kane's second-in-command in the original Command & Conquer was also named Seth. Kane never appears to age throughout the entire Command & Conquer series, which spans over 120 years, leading some to believe that Kane could possibly be the biblical "Cain", still wandering the earth. Of course, this is entirely speculation, and none of it has been confirmed by the game's creators.
