@tacosgigante: Our points in the discussion--which I will admit may not have been as elegantly stated as they could have been--were not so much about liberal v conservative and more about not feeling good about venerating a figure like Scalia just because he happened to come down on the right side of history in regards to video games. You're absolutely right that censorship isn't something exclusive to a single party--I mentioned Tipper Gore when discussing people who have come out heavy against violent video games--but to pretend Scalia's overall worldview shouldn't be considered when deciding whether to praise the man in situations like this doesn't sit well with me. Reading his frankly belligerent dissents on things like the Affordable Care Act, Obergefell v Hodges, etc. makes it profoundly difficult for me to want to celebrate him in any way. He may have been a great intellect, but his views often went beyond the level of mere disagreement for me, and so to see the ESA championing him in a press release just hit me in a peculiar way. I never said the ESA shouldn't have done what they did, just that it struck me odd.

If you want a digestible read on the many decisions Scalia made over his career that sat very poorly with folks like myself, this is a good one:

@napstar: I think if you saw some of the emails we got in response to last week's conversation, you'd understand why we responded the way we did this week. There was a lot less "pointing out" and a lot more "yelling." And while the comments section last week was generally more polite, I still think there was a lot of misrepresentation of what we were actually talking about.

@blikketty: Was thinking we might revisit as new states are released. No promises! But I do feel like there's more to explore here.

@manicmyna: Lovely how you say this as if it were some definitive truth. I plan on replaying it this weekend.

@neckbear: For the reasons I mentioned in the comments earlier. It was noticeable enough to call out, but not game-breaking. There isn't much else to say about it other than "the framerate hitches up at points."

@richardzk: I didn't call him that specifically because he isn't choosing to take care of his wife, but because he's running away from his problems. I call him that because I, too, have chosen to run away from my problems at times in my life, and I can accept that it is, inherently, a kind of cowardly thing to do. It's a cowardly thing that a lot of people do for a wide variety of reasons. Not everyone can handle the weight of their problems and sometimes extricating yourself from a situation is necessary, even if it feels awful, shameful even.

Also, I've had multiple family members suffer from Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and other forms of dementia related to old age. My aunt has the early stages of Alzheimer's right now. I know how awful it can be, and how difficult it is to face that. I am in no way trying to insult anyone who has difficulty handling a situation such as this, just commenting on the situation Henry finds himself in at the beginning of the game, one that I tried to express some sympathy for. Maybe the term I used was too loaded, but I didn't know what other word to use.

@lightlysalted85: There wasn't a good place to fit it in the flow of the main text, but I wanted to make sure it got mentioned somewhere. It's not game-breaking in any way, but I noticed it enough to want to call it out.

Folks, just to be clear, this format is not going to replace the Beastcast format. At best, it would be an every once in a while thing, but more likely we'd spin it off into something else.

@engineno9: I have an idea of what you're saying. I've definitely seen games bagged on in ways that felt out of place to me before. I personally don't think Devil's Third is one of those games.

@shtinky: I don't like Kojima very much either if that helps you at all.
