The nostalgia from Street Hoops was almost too much. I spent far, far too much of my youth studying the And 1 mixtapes and learning how to do everything in them to perfection, with the exception of not being able to dunk. Even that dumbass Slip n' Slide thing from NBA Street. There was a time when Hot Sauce was bigger than Jordan for me. Looking back, I lament just how much of my youth was spent devoted to ball handling (heh.)
@jeff This was legitimately an incredibly useful session for helping me to commit toward building a PC. Whether or not the "game" was an accurate representation of what lies ahead, it got me excited about building my own PC and sparked a genuine curiosity in the process that I'm wonderfully grateful for. I'm certain it's going to be a nightmare, but hey, things could be worse.
I clicked play and looked away for a few seconds until Alex came on the screen and when I looked back I legitimately had a brief moment where I thought I was streaming 8 Mile.
@brad I heard "Chris from Austin, Tx" and it wasn't my email that I sent in (although technically I sent it to the Beastcast since they said they haven't been getting many lately.) I've never been so hurt by the internet. Now I feel like I have to find this "mystery Chris" here in town and duel him. Or buy him a beer. They aren't mutually exclusive.
@ilserpente: I only recently began playing Hollow Knight, I bought it on Steam a while back but genuinely hate playing anything on PC but MMO's (particularly now that I can get all my favorite Skyrim mods on the 1X), and I've found it to be a really intriguing and overall enjoyable game. Difficulty wise the worst thing for me has been using a Steam Link and having significant lag issues specifically when I'm in a boss fight or on precarious platforming, which is incredibly frustrating (and also my fault for not just playing on the damn PC.) Other than that it's been fun to explore, not particularly difficult, but I do have another recommendation. Although it cribs quite heavily (and honestly) from the Dark Souls series, Salt and Sanctuary is possibly my all time favorite indie and has a lot of the same offerings, but much more robust and interesting in my opinion. They're different games for sure, but even the limited time I've spent on HK has made me want to just start another class on S&S.
2018 hasn't been around long, but it's brought it's fair share of pleasant surprises. This podcast brought another unexpected one for me, Rorie's attempt to give Horizon it's due that it got screwed out of during all of GOTY was apparently enough to break the last bit of general displeasure I had towards him and finally brought him into endearing status. The puppy stuff is still a bit much, but I'm really looking forward to going back to old content with a new appreciation as well as seeing what's ahead.
