Honestly, just from watching the UPF, I have no idea... but they look similar to something like the Office Master OM5.

@unastrike said he might post a link to them somewhere but I haven't seen it.

I also agree that the new set looks rad.

Super Hot is pretty awesome but a little short. If the value would hold anyone back from playing it then it'd be great for it to be free.

I already own it though so my vote went to Shadow Warrior.

This isn't going to be a helpful comment if you definitely want to buy one now but I would wait and see if HDMI 2.1 is on the TVs coming next year.

Also a good place to start is rtings.com; their review for the TV you linked to is here.

They suggest a value for price alternative of the Sony X900F which is the TV I considered buying (before I decided to wait for HDMI 2.1).

@chrjz: Escalation Protocol and Whisper are great examples of really good Destiny design: here's stuff to go do that's moderately difficult to challenging (depending on who you do it with) with concrete rewards. More of those is a great thing, and it sounds like they're doing a lot of that in Forsaken (at least another mode like EP). I'm going in hopeful that people are going to push back some about the dramatic increase in grind, and we'll see some of it lessened, get more stuff like the Guaranteed New Exotic from Xur. But that's only going to be year 1 stuff for now, so who really knows.

Yeah... and I would absolutely do them but I think I need people to group up with. I'm currently in a pretty inactive clan. Anybody with a cool group of people on the PC looking for members?

@chrjz: What parts of D2 do you prefer over D1? The overwhelming majority of players I know, especially on the PvP side are foaming at the mouth at these changes. The streaming community has been flocking back to Destiny 2 finally this week on Twitch. Everyone seems to be loving these changes from this, in both PvE and PvP. Running around with Ikelos SG and Whisper of the Worm is so almost broken in PvE it isn't even funny, and I love it. In my opinion, and from a Gameplay perspective, Destiny is finally back. And PvP, you can do this again (friend of mine)...

I'm just not looking at it from a "Destiny is back" perspective because I've enjoyed D2 a lot more than I ever did D1. I like the Crucible a lot and I'm sure I can get used to the changes but I'm not sure if they're better. I don't think I like a lower TTK or shotguns in your face around every corner. I'll probably find a play style that works for me eventually... These changes seem fine in PvE from a gameplay perspective.

@chrjz: What did you think was too weird?

That's how one of the devs referred to the aspects of D1 that they want to bring back, "make Destiny weird again." The stuff that they've said that resonates with players, like Whisper and the Escalation Protocol are things I haven't done. I haven't even bothered to look up how the EP works...

@chrjz: As someone very much in the same boat, I'm not really happy with a lot of the changes, especially the focus on grind (infusion is much more expensive and takes and additional 10 planetary materials, removing basically all the customization in favor of random rolls, dailies instead of weekly milestones). Having gotten my hands on one Forsaken weapon twice (great way to start, huh) and spent some time with both, it sorta revealed that the perks don't matter very much - it felt exactly the same in both cases, with slight exceptions (slide to partially reload vs kill clip). I don't think it breaks the system completely, but it does feel like people got used to bad design decisions in D1 and were just going to keep complaining until they came back, so they did it.

The infusion change was a big bummer when I first noticed it... Thankfully they seem to be significantly increasing the amount of planetary materials you can earn but it still seems like an unnecessary extra grind.

The Forsaken SMG I got with DSR and Threat Detector seems quite good but I would prefer to have more, different items than to collect three of the same gun to try and see which perk makes the least negligible difference...

As someone who has played a lot of Destiny 2, and didn't like Destiny 1; I'm a little nervous about the direction they're going. I hope it isn't too "weird" as they put it.

MacGruber - 1/5

Nicest thing I can say about it is that I might have endured it until the end to justify spending money on the ticket.

I've been meaning to watch this for a while. I need to know. Dan and Abby are so genuinely into it.

@haneybd87: Yeah, there are always cards that perform slightly better and cost more too but it also comes to the silicon lottery in some cases. I've been water cooling for a while so I don't really pay attention to what cooler is on a card...

My original post about it being an easy choice if you want the best GPU just meant that any 2080 Ti is going to be better than a 2080 or 1080 Ti.

This makes no sense, but I'm looking forward to the benchmarks!

I find it telling that they compare the 2080 to a 1080 and not a 1080 Ti. It's just not as big of an improvement as previous generations and their really trying to impress with all the new technology.

@haneybd87 said:

@chrjz: I don’t think the choice is that easy. Which 2080ti do you get? There’s going to be a big difference between a reference card and the premium cooled and overclocked 3rd party cards. There are also other considerations. Things like fan noise issues, coil whine, etc. that crop up in certain models.

There won't be a huge difference between 2080 Ti models especially if you do some of your own overclocking. All of them should be faster then any lower tier card and fan noise and coil whine are things to consider when buying any GPU.

I'll wait for benchmarks and whatnot but it seems that the RTX 2070 is a better upgrade than a GTX 1080 and it comes at a lower cost. Colour me interested!

A 2070 is expected to start at $500 I thought... You can get a 1080 for less than that right now.

It will probably be the best bang for your buck out of the 20XX line, though.
