As much as I love Metroid, I'm somewhat apprehensive about Samus Returns. Not digging the 2.5D art-style. The melee counter mechanic seems to turn the combat into a boring gameplay loop (i.e. stand still until enemy rushes you, counter and one-shot enemy). The Aieon (spelling?) ability that reveal secrets in the map seems to eliminate any sense of discovery or surprise in exploring the world. All you have to do now is press a button and large parts of the map are filled in, including secret areas. Although, I realize finding all expansions in previous titles may have been tedious. Therefore, I understand why Nintendo would introduce the mechanic to streamline that a bit. However, I feel like perhaps they could have found a better solution in the middle.

I'll probably still pick it up, but nothing they've shown so far has really excited me. Anyone else feel the same or different?

Has Nintendo ever stated that the intent of the Switch was to also provide a handheld console experience? Sure, they have marketed it's portability but I feel like that's slightly different than saying, "This is a home-console and a handheld-console". Handheld games tend to have such a different feel from home consoles, providing more bite-size game experiences such as in Picross 3D. So while they have demonstrated the ability to play in "handheld mode", that's not the same as providing handheld software. Have they ever stated handheld focused software would come to the Switch? I suppose that may be a natural assumption/extension to make...

Oh man, Kingdom Hearts is soo dumb. And I love it :D I mean that one guy was wearing a unicorn mask. Like how silly and awesome is that?!

So in terms of what's included in this, a console HD version of KH3D seems straightforward. But, is KH2 Birth by Sleep Fragmentary passage a completely new game? Or is it just a small sequence of stages detailing what Aqua has been doing this whole time? And what the heck is KH back cover? I'm assuming it's just a theater mode outlining a pre-keyblade war story???

@boboblaw: yo duder! you may not have meant this, but that was kinda aggressive to the OP. You have legitimate points but maybe don't come down on the OP's opinions as well. He's just asking a harmless question :)

Here are my general thoughts of the two (from my personal experience):

  • PCs are more open in terms of hardware which can make it easier to fix malfunctions. I dropped my laptop and the screen wasn't working. However, I could just pop it open and reconnect some wires and it worked again! In general, a broken Mac means an expensive trip to the Apple store
  • Price. My friends rarely broke their Macs but when they did, that was a hefty loss in terms of money. For the price of a macbook, I could buy two pretty good Windows laptops.
  • I tend to enjoy programming on a Mac more than a PC. I struggled a lot trying to find the right terminal and shell for Windows and it was never quite right. I have been programming on my macbook for a year now and I love it. Obviously, this point is rather subjective.

I've become more fond of Macs over the years but I'm not sure if I've been sold on it given the price.
