@peezmachine: Yea I agree that there are some surprisingly cool and seemingly well thought out elements to the GB level. However, given the haphazard way the level was actually put together, it makes you wonder how much time and thought were put into classic mario levels :p

@mirado:One small typo I found while reading: in the year 196x you wrote:

...access the Legacy's various accounts scatted across the world...

"scattered" is misspelled.

Regardless, awesome timeline! Even though I replayed most of the series (1-3) recently, I still forget many of these facts. There are just so many small details that get mentioned once or twice that actually provide interesting background to the characters.

Infinite monkey theorem, I guess. I had my doubts with Pokemon, then they beat that. I just heard that Metal Gear (Solid?) was also beaten, so I'm impressed.

What!? Man I didn't even know this was still a thing. How many other games besides Pokemon has been on Twitch plays?

I always consider Pokemon Red to be my first game. I probably played Super Mario Bros. 3 or some other NES game before but Red is the one I remember playing on my own and actually enjoying. It's the game that motivated me to get my own console, the GameBoy Color.

@finaldasa: @jadegl: Thanks a bunch! Now that I have more money, I really want to get a copy of the original trilogy but I never knew what version to get. I'll definitely take a look at that link!

@jadegl: So the 2006 DVD release of the original trilogy doesn't have the dumb additions (e.g. Hayden Christensen in 6, Han not shooting first, etc.)?

Sorry for the questions. I'm just confused especially since there have been several re-releases of the original trilogy and various special editions and remasterings. I'm fine with effect touch-ups or audio improvements, but not additional CGI shots where you hear Jar Jar yelling in the background.

@ezekiel: If they do release the original cuts of the first three films they'll have to be the Laser Disk versions. I think those of the only ones left at this point, unfortunately. Not the best quality by a long shot. I just want to watch Return of the Jedi without the ridiculous dance scene.

If true, I don't get how you can be so unsentimental that you would destroy the objects of your life's work. He says he had the idea since before 1971. Those prints would be special to me regardless of whether I was embarrassed of them or not. Did he throw them in a fire after he was done altering them? It makes no sense to me.

I agree. But George Lucas seems like a man who had a vision, and if the re-edits are what he believed met his vision so be it, even if those re-edits totally discredit a bunch of amazing practical effects work that had to be done on those films. All I know is that I prefer the original cuts, and would love for them to come out on Blu-Ray regardless of quality.

Is there still no consumer release of the original versions of the classic trilogy? Last I heard you couldn't buy episodes 4-6 without getting the stupid additions/edits made by Lucas. However, a friend the other day said you could.

Personally, I thought Genisys was pretty bad. The time travel stuff just made no sense. If you really think about it, the originals also didn't make sense but the paradoxes caused by their time travel was never really in the forefront of the movie. In this one, it's pivotal to the plot. It just comes off as stupid. Plus the action was forgettable, CGI was decent. Just very boring. I also didn't like 3 and Salvation was meh.
