I don't think it's necessary but I don't think that's the same as saying it is unwelcomed. If the creator (I forget his name) can produce sequels quickly, great! If they're atrocious, then the market should weed them out. Otherwise, who cares.
I doubt they'll pick different characters, but here's to hoping. When do people imagine this will happen? Probably a few weeks after E3 during the long summer. July maybe?
Still can't wait. Easily one of my favorite features right now. So long as Dan doesn't win, I'll be happy. Jeff winning would be especially funny.
I would be interested in reading the study; however, I wouldn't rush to conclude that video games do not cause sexist stereotypes (I'm not saying it does but the study alone does not conclude that). It seems the study was conducted on a relatively small sample size (800ish people...I suppose this could be large enough....I don't know) and a small time frame (3 years). Plus there's the fact that all the players were from a single regional background (Germany). If anything I would say this study may suggest that video games do not convert people into believing sexist stereotypes "overnight" (i.e. in a matter of a few years).
As most things, I'm sure the impact of media on stereotypes in general is much more complicated than media X causes stereotype Y. Still it's nice to see some scientific studies in the subject matter.
Nice read! I would be interested in hearing more from people that participated in the game jam. Regardless, good job. I really liked the transition into playing as a werewolf. The slow pace of Simon made the quick movement of the werewolf feel like I was a bad ass. Plus who doesn't love some Smooth McGroove. Congrats on finishing it!!
