I rather enjoyed this movie.
The visuals were beautiful and awe inspiring, I liked how the movie kept the sudo retro-ish sci-fi appearance to everything. No holographic touch pads, or sleek computer monitors, everything was grounded in the same way the tech was presented in the first film but expanded upon to give it the illusion that things have naturally advanced from the last time we glimpsed this dark, and gritty future.

The soundtrack worked really well with it's immense and invasive score. The movie presents the heavy synth intermixed with heavy tones that just bleed into some of the ambient sounds from scene when K is out walking the streets of LA. It really pulls you into this sensation of being within this overpopulated, crowded, noisy city. Not only are there the more fantastical sci-fi notes we come to expect with anything depicting the future, but it also drives home how loud, noisy, and oppressive it can be.

I did not have much issue with the story of the film, it's a sad story if any but one that does leave things open enough to either future explore the story presented or to just create more works within the Blade Runner setting. I kind of saw the big reveal at the end coming from a mile away, mostly due to how the first film played with the idea of is Deckard a replicant or not. This film tries to do the opposite with K teasing out a lot of clues that should push the audience into asking is K not a replicant? However, with the stigma of the previous film looming over this one, they should of been much more subtile with the direct hints of K slowly believing he was the miracle child.

The romance between Joi and K was interesting but I feel also needed to help sell the audience on the whole humanizing aspect of K. I mean why would a replicant be attached to a hologram? That's more of a human character flaw, if a replicant was so set on trying to be human they'd want to go after the real sure fire thing that wouldn't draw attention to, be questioned about, or looked down upon by society. I mean he's harassed about it on his way to his apartment, and belittled by the replicant prostitutes for it. It's a really cleaver trick used by the movie to help sway us into believing that K isn't who the movie says he is. I did find the whole sex scene with his digital-wifu there to be a bit awkward, but hey it's the future cringey things of today will be the norm tomorrow?

Thinking about it I did not like the Wallace character one bit. His arrogance with his God-complex and obsession for out-doing Tyrell and his replicants really makes him an insufferable character. I mean this guy in one hand tells you how perfect his creations are and how godlike he is in creating angels and saving humanity and yet then kills one because of how inferior he is for being beaten to the punch by Tyrell with the notion that one of his replicants was able to breed. He just rubbed me the wrong way, like a spoiled kid who got mad because he wasn't the first one to win.

This movie was cool, I probably need to see it again to help pick up on more nuanced aspects of it, there is a lot going on in this film.
I'd write more about this but I probably should get back to work..

OH man, it's been a while since I actually sat down and went over the stuff I've been enthralled with. Oddly enough I've been on a slight downward spiral for anime lately so I haven't been keeping up with a lot of new shows so far, but I'll admit The Ancient Magus' Bride seems like a pretty dope show so far. I can't seem to get enough of what that show is selling.

Kaiji has been entertaining thus far for an anime from the mid to late 2000's. I decided to check it out after seeing a short video about how such a good show flew under a lot of people's radar. I'll have to agree it's very unique out there in terms of both art style, pacing, and even subject matter. Almost done the first season and it's been one hell of a ride. Angel Beats was a treat. The constant call outs to other movies, and how it poked fun at a lot of stuff was a great balance between the heavy handed feels the show throws at you. I can see why a lot of people really enjoyed this one.

Picked the cards back up for watching more Shokugeki no Soma because food porn fighting anime is dumb and fun. The new season of Blood Blockade Battlefront should be exciting since the first season was really all over the place, kind of looking forward to that. Still have a large backlog of anime to watch, I probably should stop typing this and get back to watching..

I think the worst thing I've ever done PC wise was I ended up cracking a GPU chip. It was for an old Diablotek Geforce GTX 6800, I was annoyed by the loud fan whine of the stock cooler so I ordered an aftermarket cooler and "installed it". I must of had the thing down too tight onto the chip that it cracked right down the middle.

I did have a build for a friend literally go up in smoke on us while we were building it. We had the CPU and memory installed and were about to power it on for the first time to see if the board would post and the northbridge chip shorted out completely, burned up and started to smoke. Turns out the board she had picked up for cheap was faulty, had to send it back for a replacement kind of a shame.

Just recently I ended up breaking a plexi top to a waterblock. I want to say this was about 8 months ago, when my custom loop was still rocking soft-tubing I was redoing the loop to fit two new rads for better cooling and I had a devil of a time trying to get the new tubing onto the barb that was on the waterblock. Ended up forcing it so much that I cracked the inlet, little spider-cracks radiated out from there, completely shot in an instant.

I also had a CPU problem just recently with the new hard tubing as well, though this time it turns out I was a doofus and overtightened the waterblock onto the CPU causing the system to not even boot but post 00. All the info I found online seemed to point to bad CPU, which was a possibility because I had just recently delided my 6700k to replace the stock TIM for better temps. But yeah, some other users were mentioning the EK blocks can cause some intel systems to bugger up the CPU if you have it too tight, turns out I did. I simply unscrewed the backplate slightly and everything booted right as rain. LGA sockets seem to be somewhat touchy when it comes to pressure from mounting your coolers, I understand now why AMD has a set torque screw that comes with their Threadripper boards too much pressure and the system shits the bed.

If i'm playing WoW, i'm rocking my left-handed Razer Naga and all twelve of the thumb buttons are bound to a grid hot bar I have set up in my UI to mimic the location of each button. Most of it is a mix of utility spells (cleanse, PW: shield, levitate, life grip) and annoying toys, trinkets, and mounts. I've been playing a healer for a good bit in wow lately and with the use of clique I can toss out these abilities rapid fire on my party/raid if needed.

If i'm not playing wow i'm using a different mouse, mostly to help prolong the life of the LH naga, but also I don't feel like I can perform very twitchy fast response movements with it. I've got some hybrid optical/ laser mouse for everything else, it's another razer mouse product but I can't remember the name off the top of my head. It's a bit smaller and ambidextrous so it works great for me considering I'm a left handed mouse user.

I've slowed down my anime consumption since I binged my way through Code Geass. I did not get into that show when it first aired but I'm glad I managed to catch it in it's entirety. Since then I've mostly been just keeping up with the weekly installments of My Hero Academia, and Elegant Youkai Apartment Life, but i've also been watching about an episode a night of Assassination Classroom.

I'm also taking a breather from the whole Monogatari series since I finished up the second season a bit ago, I figure I'll dive into Owarimonogatari once it finishes airing it's new episodes. I do need to sit my ass down and try to dive back into Fist of the North Star, but man there's a lot of that show.

I'll pick the Event Horizon, mostly because the crew of the Lewis and Clark were onboard the Event Horizon for much longer than three hours before shit really started to hit the fan. If that's true I just need to keep my wits about me, stay out of the engineering half of the ship, and I should be fine.

As for the Ishimura the odds of myself finding the equipment I would need to combat the threat or survive it is gonna be much lower than on the Event Horizon. Let alone how quickly the necromorphs kill everyone, and are numerous in both size, and type; I doubt i'll stand a chance.

@oursin_360: I'm by no means an expert on hash rates of GPUs, but from what buzz I can find out there the VEGA RX 56 has most of the attention because some early overclocking/testing that's been reported has the card pushing out 38MH/s at times, and might be able to stabilize/coax a little more out of it with better driver support. From what I've gleamed with their reports it seems like with the right support from AMD and the custom tweaking most miners do to their cards to squeeze every last bit of digital blood from their turnip GPUs, one would think a single VEGA 56 when overclocked may have the ability to push out the work load of two 1070s.

From what I can see, the AMD Vega GPUs are pretty impressive. Yes they didn't topple the 1080ti from its throne up on GPU Mountain but they've positioned themselves to take advantage of the rest of the market quiet nicely. Also as many have already suggested, the VEGA cards have scored very well with other compute capabilities which suggests to me AMD was also keeping in mind the cryptocurrency miners and are looking to take advantage of that segment of the market. VEGA seems to be a great competitor to the 1070-1080 line cards for the more reasonable PC user as well as newcomers to the PC market, as well as a great alternative for miners. I mean it's great having a user buying one of their cards for their gaming rig, but it's even better if a single individual buys 4 or more of them for their mining rig. (I know right now a lot of sites have a limit on how many one can purchase but considering we're just a week or so out from launch these limits will disappear with time.)

Also I don't see VEGA 64 being their top flagship card, I have a feeling AMD's testing the waters similarly with what they did with the RYZEN launch. We get to see products equal the more mid-high tier consumer products right away, and now a few months later something larger like the RYZEN Threadripper will be more than likely announced to challenge the 1080ti's top spot.

Now with that in mind, how long with AMD wait to pull the trigger on this, or will this force Nvidia's hand to drop Volta early?

I have to do this, it's too good to pass up. My apologies for the trauma you all may receive. The reason why you feel so indifferent about Owlboy is:

"You just don't give a hoot."

I picked up a HTC Vive back in April, and the driving game that I wanted it for was Elite Dangerous.
The sheer size and scale of most things in VR is mind boggling, playing the game on your desktop does not give the sense of how big some of these ships and stations really are. Movement is also a bit different, but I think it's more to do with the perception of things in VR than actual movement speed. It makes the game a lot more interesting when you're zipping past other ships through the mail slot or landing on a planet to check out a vista.
