No. There are movies and television shows that are far more graphic than any video game. If people want to have a discussion on media as a whole being too violent, then that's something that could be discussed (though I'd still stay no) but it doesn't make sense to single out video games.

Y'all are freaking out about nothing. Anyone who actually believes that GTA V won't be on PC sometime next year is a crazy person.

It'd be neat, but at the same time, we wouldn't get to play this until like 2015 at the earliest. With what R* puts into their open-world games, they're looking for a pretty big return. 20 million in sales at least. With 360 and PS3, they have over a 120 million potential consoles to sell to. Consoles that they've had tremendous success on multiple times this generation.

With a new platform, it's never guaranteed if it'll catch on quickly and develop a large userbase. Plus they've talked in the past how they had some struggles mastering the HD consoles for GTA IV. The fact that they have such a good grasp of them now allows them to really go all out with what they're trying to do for GTA V.

I sort of disagree about Sleeping Dogs. Part of what made that game boring for me was the city. Felt small.

I love that they're trying to capture the massive sprawl that is LA, and not only that, but they're going to have a diversity of terrain that most open-world games don't have. A massive recreation of Los Angeles is great on its own, but there's also going to be farmlands, countryside, small backwater towns, and mountains? Awesome.

Also, it should be noted that when R* talks about GTA V being five times bigger than this game, or bigger than these two games combined or whatever, they're including the ocean floor and the vertical space. Slightly misleading really, it's not straight up five times bigger.

Love the shoutout for Primordia. Looks amazing!

A shame that Valve can be really dumb sometimes and still deems it necessary for someone like Wadjet Eye to have to use Greenlight.

Old World Blues. I just really loved the vibe in that. Everything about it is quintessential Fallout.

But Point Lookout is almost it's equal. Quite an amazing piece of DLC as well.

It just seems very inconsistent to me. Greenlight is for lesser known developers/publishers who are new to Steam. Or at least that's what I thought it was supposed to be. Wadjet Eye is neither. And while they'll survive without guaranteed Steam releases, it's a damn shame that they even have to compete for a spot and potentially lose out on sales.

I've heard Dave Gilbert mention how the Steam sale phenomenon really helped some of their past games (where you put something on sale, tons of people buy it, it goes off sale, and people still buy a bunch of copies because of word of mouth). Just hope Primordia makes it since it looks really special.

It's not really a disadvantage because it gives useful information for gauging interest. Also it's probably voluntary...

Nope, they rejected the game and said they should submit it to greenlight.

It's some grade A bullshit, really. Wadjet Eye has put out a ton of quality games, some of them already on Steam, I'm not sure why they aren't given their proper place on Steam as a regular release. Valve has let through some garbage adventure games that aren't even half as good as what Wadjet Eye puts out.

Valve is fucking weird sometimes.

Anyways, they put out the launch trailer. It looks bloody fantastic. Unsurprising coming from Wadjet Eye.

This is slightly tangential, but still valuable to the topic at hand I think.

Lazlow Jones co-writes with Dan Houser almost all of the satirical things in R* games. The fake radio commercials, the DJ banter, the talk radio stations, the fake TV shows, the fake internet, pedestrian dialogue, etc. He's a comedian and radio host and is pretty damn funny. He's been a radio DJ in some form or another for every 3D GTA game as well.

This is a presentation on the American media and pop culture and about what he and R* aim to do with their games. It's quite fascinating and really communicates something that I love so much about their work - beginning is here, worth watching the whole thing

I'll be impressed when I can put my hands on a controller and try it out. Between the car handling, mission design, and side shit like dates and driving people around in GTA IV (which I know you could skip that last shit, but wanted to play the game as Rockstar obviously intended it to be played), it really soured my taste for the GTA franchise after I already had issues with Vice City and San Andreas.

I want to be brought back to the GTA series. I hope this is the reason to do that.

Dan Houser has said they addressed the driving, they brought Midnight Club devs from R* San Diego to help out with that. The dating shit is gone.

The missions they said are more free form than any past game in the series, partially due to the character switching system. You have three man heists, two man missions, missions unique to each character, dynamic missions out in the world ala Red Dead, etc. Though I wouldn't expect them to say anything less in order to get people hyped, so take that for what you will.
