Games I Beat in 2014

List items

  • 1/1/2014 - 4/5

The late game difficulty spike was frustrating because of the random nature of card drawing games. But besides a few annoying battles, I really dug this game.

  • 1/2/2014 - 4.5/5

Pretty funny. It could have used a choice quest log to help players experience more of the game. I think I realistically laughed aloud about 10 or 12 times. It's rare to play a game that does humor well.

  • 1/11/2014 - 3.5/5

It's a fun game, but the formula has worn thin. Plus III seemed shorter. Maybe the grind just doesn't appeal to me after 2 other game.

  • 1/20/2014 - 4.5/5

Does something different. It reminds me of a Kafka novel. I got my first ending, which was pretty terrible. So I got a happy ending, which made me really happy. I didn't think things would turn out well for my family and I, but they did.

  • 3/18/2014 - 3/5

The back of half of this game is terrible. It has so much filler. I cannot believe that they make you replay the same bossess four times.

  • 4/5/2014 - 4.5/5

Every thing you want in an iOS puzzle game: wonderful art, great puzzles and level design, and a Journey-like minimalist narrative. Monument Valley is a great--albeit short--game.

  • 4/7/2014 - 5/5

The Souls games are stressful and frustrating and rewarding. I love them and I hate them all at the same time. I've owned this game for a while, but the daunting task of bashing my head against it kept me from playing it, but when Dark Souls 2 came out, I figured it was finally time to beat Dark Souls.

  • 4/21/2014 - 4.5/5

I really like the inFamous games. I really like this game, and I think that it may be the best in the series, but the formula is just a little worn. That new inFamous sheen has worn off. I want to give it a 5, but something is holding it back. It's the first inFamous that I didn't want to beat twice back to back for the platinum trophy.

  • 5/3/2014 - 3/5

When I finally felt comfortable with the gameplay, the game ended. The main story is literally two missions. I would like to have more content--glad I rented this game.

  • 5/22/2014 - 5/5

Loved it more than Bastion, which was an amazing game. I love the combat, I love the minimalist narrative. Super Giant out did themselves. I just wish it was longer because I didn't want it to end.

  • 5/30/2014 - 4/5

Good game but some of the challenges were a little too specific/dumb.

  • 7/2/2014 - 4.5/5

This game was awesome, but I cannot help but feel that they missed a few missing design choices. The subweapons were a little underdeveloped and I could have used more ways to develop and build your character. I maxed everything out with three to five more stages to go.

  • 7/9/2014 - 4/5

I really liked this game. It reminded me of Singularity, but better. The stealth elements were my favorite elements. This seems like a great game that not a lot of people will play.

  • 7/10/2014 - 4/5

I enjoyed this game, but it had some uneven episodes and some of the releases were too far apart. Not as great as TWD season 1, but still great. I'm interested to see where they go from here.

  • 7/16/2014 - 3.5/5

I know there are online tournaments, but I beat the "main" game in one sitting. I finshed the 3 club course and won the triple crown playing each course only once. There seems to be a lack of content, and the RPG elements are missing. Why can't I beef up my character. This game is solid, but could have been so much more.

  • 7/19/2014 - 4/5

This was my first EO game, but it won't be my last. This was a fun and different jrpg experience, which is welcomed.

  • 8/12/2014 - 4.5/5

I played about 75% of this game on my Mac, and after some "optimizations" it started running like poopoo. I got a free copy for PS3, and I started over a finally finished it. Glad that I did. I was a great game even if the final boss was a little too much of a difficulty spike.

  • 8/16/2014 - 5/5

I played it again. I still love it. I still needed help from the internet to finish one of the final puzzles. Great game. Great story. Great puzzles.

  • 8/20/2014 - 2.5/5

This game had sooooo much potential and it has amazing art. I really liked it when it started. But as the game progresses, it becomes more about shooting dudes and less about sneaking. Oh yeah, the shooting in this game is mediocre at best. So eventually sneaking becomes impossible in this stealth game, which really sucks. I wish this game focused more on well thought out level design and skillful play and focused less on shooting dudes.

This season was fine, but the ending was lacking. And the characters just didn't connect like they did in the first season. I was a little disappointed, but the last season was a pretty high bar.

  • 9/1/2014 - 3.5/5

ASG was a pretty cool game. I got the basic ending and attempted some of the challenges. When I saw the regular ending, I was pretty disappointed. Sadly, I really didn't want to play more to get the extended ending. So I guess that says something about the overall story and quality of the game. There are some amazing ideas and great boss design, but there are also a lot of repetitive enemies, a crappy anime story, and an overall lack of content that holds ASG back from greatness.

EDIT: I ended up getting the true ending, and the story part was dumb. But it did give me another cool boss to battle.

  • 9/7/2014 - 4/5

I have to be honest--this game was short and on the easy side, but it was fun and free. The free part is what justifies the 4/5. This is a great little add-on. Anything besides .99 would be too much. But it's worth playing especially if you get it for nothing.

  • 9/20/2014 - 3.5/5

Biggest dissapointment of the year. It was fine, but it was hyped to be something way more than what it was.

  • 10/23/2014 - 5/5

One of the best games of the year, if not the best. I loved the game. I loved the war chief system. This is the game that Assassin's Creed should have become. The Batman combat is solid, and the traversal is quick. I even got the platinum.

  • 10/28/2014 - 4.5/5

I know this is a little late, but this game was awesome. I played it on PS4 and I loved it. Solid story, great gameplay (a little too easy), and different art (I would've prefered something a little less anime).

  • 11/3/2013 - 4/5

This game was a lot of fun. There was too much of it, and I tried to perfect everything for the first 25 levels, then I realized that it was insane to keep trying. By that time, I had trouble finishing the game, but I did. It was cool, but too much of a good thing can be a bad thing.

  • 11/10/2104 - 3.5/5

Fun little game. While there are problems, it was fun. I don't really have much to say besides: it was good.

  • 11/13/2014 - 3/5

Meh, I get it. I played it enough to beat mother. That was enough for me. I tried a few runs after finishing the game, but I just didn't want to play much more.
