I don't like MGS games and I don't like Kojima, but there are details in his games that makes me gasp and respect him as a creator. Crossfades in later MGS games for example - most real-time 3d games don't do this because it doubles the rendering load. Sports games that do broadcast-style crossfades cheat by simply blending with a freeze frame so that they're actually only rendering one shot in real-time. However, in MGS games, they actually render both shots!

Framerate be damned, Kojima didn't want to compromise his vision. I can only imagine the push back from the engineers.

I'd be curious to know what other games have real-time cross fades. I noticed that Amplitude (the rhythm game) has it but it's a graphically light game.

What a tone deaf response. Discussing the issues affecting real people behind the media we consume is a good thing.

Yeah. I'd much rather see them bring layoffs to spotlight than Jim Ryan eating a hobo which is borderline celebrity gossip.

There's nothing wrong with this industry. Just keep consuming and don't peek behind the curtains, gamers!

I was a snobby print magazine reader and Jeff was the one that made me go "huh, I didn't know online journalists could have integrity". After CGW shut down and 1UP went belly up, I came here because I was seeking that honesty and authenticity. I'll be keeping an eye on wherever he lands next.

What are some Premium perks you folks wish existed other than exclusive video/podcast content?

Yeah, near the end I was swimming in resources and resolved most of story threads so I was just gambling at the tea room to pass the time. Didn't deter from the experience though.

I don't think I've ever played an RPG without a main quest before.

I must admit that I'm a little perplexed about something - isn't controller what people usually fall back on when they have RSI from too much KB/M gaming instead of the other way around? When I think of RSI, I think of avoiding mouse usage as much as possible.

That was the case for me - I transitioned to gamepad mainly to avoid RSI pains from using KB/M at work.

I gotta say though that not all gamepads are made equal - For example D-pad on DualShock 4 can set off pains (Xbox One gamepad D-pad is fine). Xbox 360 gamepad's triggers can also set off pains (Xbox One's triggers are fine). Etc.
