I hope this means online finally works, because I haven't been able to join a single match.  Not one.  I can get as far as choosing a character when suddenly:

Game session is no longer available.

I try again, same thing happens.  I try again, same thing happens.  I've tried hosting, I've tried joining, I've tried HotH and regular, I've reset my router and yet always the same message.

Brilliant game, but I sure would like to actually get into the multiplayer part of things.  Fingers crossed for the patch then eh?

@Marino: Alright, I've moved everything over to the Imagine Software page.  It actually gets a little more complicated, as at one point Imagine Software were bought out by Ocean and they published a few more games under the name Imagine Studios.  That page is also completely empty.

I would suggest that you delete the page for Imagine, and for Imagine Studios, leaving just the Imagine Software page.  Then, add Imagine Studios as an alias of the Imagine Software page.  It's all a bit incestuous at the moment, and this would keep it simple and logical.

@ethan: Cool beans.

To save starting another topic, I'll also point out that (low priority stuff I know) that wiki editing is impossible in the stock iPad browser too.  The save changes bar hovers over the middle of the screen, and only the article's blurb header is selectable enough to make the keyboard pop up.

Yeah, I know, who really is likely to be doing much editing in the iPad browser right?  Just mentioning it as there are various page rendering issues in the iPad browser, this being the most noticeable, and I guess you guys will want to be aware when the site doesn't work right in any browser.  If it helps, I'd be more than happy to fire it up and click around, make a list of what seems to be broken in iOS.

Hi there.

Tech specs first.  I'm on a MacBook, running the latest version of the OS, using Safari.

Okay so here's the deal.  I've been getting into the wiki editing a little, mostly just pissing about with older pages and games because I figure the kids have the newer stuff covered.  Several times I have requested that a new page be created, so that I can link to to the pages I am interested in.  Case in point, I created Wacky Waiters for the Commodore VIC-20.

Now, I get an email come through saying the wiki submission has been approved, and I click the link to open up the new page because I'm keen to upload a couple of pictures, put in the genre and concepts etc.  Here's the problem then.  When I first opened up that page I got a quest pop-up in the lower right hand corner saying that I've edited 20 out of 25 wiki pages.  I dismissed it and entered in a bunch of changes to the page.  However, when I mouse hover over the "Save Changes" button the pop-up reappears blocking me from clicking the button.  I dismiss it again, and click the button.  Clicking the button makes the pop-up reappear, and I'm then caught in a loop where no matter what I do I can't save the changes due to that pop-up constantly refreshing.

This has been a repeatable bug, and has hit me several times.  The solution is to click away from the page and click back, so that the pop-up goes away before entering edit mode.  Right now I'm always careful to do that, but other new users may be discouraged if their first edits are blocked from being saved by the very process which is designed to encourage them.

First time in this forum, hope I did it right.

This page (Imagine Software) needs to be kept.

This duplicate but inferior page (Imagine) needs merging with it.

Mine was ADE, due to my name being Adrian.  It had the advantage of being really quick to enter too, which was handy on machines which gave a punishing time limit to put in a name.  I swear, on some machines it was more difficult to enter a high score than it was to play the basic game at times.  I could also never understand why many games on home consoles kept the time limit on entering a name too.  I mean, not like it had to kick a player off quickly so more money could be taken on the machine.

I feel old, everything makes me angry these days.  You kids, you have it so easy.  *shakes fist*

@blacklabeldomm:  I'm with the OP.  The last time I played a MK game was the original, in the arcade, and I hated it.  Hated the look of all the later games too.  Didn't like the characters, didn't like the look of the gameplay, I've just loathed MK for the best part of two decades.  Two weeks ago I'd have laughed myself to death if you had told me I'd ever feel anything different about the franchise.

And here I am, calling Mortal Kombat 9 a 5-star game, and the best fighting game I have ever played.  It's just wonderful.  You shouldn't wait any longer, just jump in now.

Damn there are a lot of virgins posting in this thread.

OP, there is nothing wrong with respecting your girl's wishes.  She's meeting you halfway by respecting, and dabbling with, your hobby.  It's only right that you try and make it easier for her to embrace gaming in a way that doesn't send her screaming from the room.

Have you tried getting her to play story mode (on easy) by herself?  There's no blood in that mode, and it would give her a chance to get involved in game at her own speed before you take it into competitive mode.

" @Parkingtigers: ffx wasn't that hard, it's just a grind, I stopped before the last bosses to do some sidestuff, I had Yojinbo(sp?) and all kind of shit for the last hours of the game ;P "
Oh I never said it was hard.  Hence me putting it in the "Most simple games you rage quit" thread.  The FF games are never much more than spam attack, occasionally heal, spam specials when charged.  It wasn't the game that made me quit at all.

It was the fact that I was never allowed to play the damn game.  Cutscene, after cutscene, after cutscene.  I walk around the environment looking for trouble, I triggered a 5 minute cutscene and I'm sitting there waiting and waiting for it to end and the game itself to start.  Then it ends, I start walking again and "whoops" another cutscene.  I put the controller down again and sit there grinding my teeth waiting to be allowed back in.  Rinse and repeat.  And repeat.  And repeat.

I actually stopped playing the first day in anger, and returned to it fresh the next morning in a better mood.  Didn't last long, still it made me want to throw the controller though the screen just so that I could claim to be interacting with it in some way.  And here's the thing, I wouldn't have minded the cutscenes if they had made any sense, or if they had actually been about characters that I actually cared about.  It tried to go for the mysterious setup, with lots of cryptic comments and foreshadowing that it clearly wanted to only come back to many hours later.  It was bad storytelling of the worst kind, and I was being forced to watch it rather than actually playing through the story.

Plus the actual times I did get to control the game it found other ways to piss me off.  I was on a boat, and it made me sit through a tediously long and unskippable instructions on how to do something.  I read it all, then explore the rest of the boat.  I accidentally click on the dude who gave me the instructions, and it made me sit through it all again!  Without being able to skip!  Again!  *rage*  So I swim down underwater, discovering that I'm basically in an invisible corridor as I can't swim to left or right, so any illusion that I'm actually playing now is gone because they might just as well have made that a cutscene if I can't do anything than push forward on the stick.  I get to a simple combat, and out of sheer boredom I decide to see if I can use a special move rather than spam the basic attack.  Just wanted to experiment on this early, easy fight.  Logical right?  Got to make your own fun at times, right?  Well I get killed, as expected, and reload the save to go and play it the traditional (spam attack to win) way.  Only to find that I'm not allowed down into the water until I read the instructions on how to go down again.  Yes, those unskippable, "I've already read these two times stop fucking with me" instructions.

Oh and even the title screen of that game pissed me off.  First time I play, I sit and watch the opening cinematic as I wanted to soak up story in the way that they want to show it to me.  So I watched it, thought it looked kind of cool, and hit start to play.  What's the first thing the game makes me do after hitting start?  It makes me watch that entire cinematic again.  Unskippable.  Fucksocks.  And the most insulting part of that, was that the cinematic isn't even linked to the start of the story, it's just a "Here's something you'll get to later on in the game, hope you enjoy watching it (twice) now though just to confuse the fuck out of you".

TL;DR - Fuck FFX.
