@brad NMS having ~250k concurrent users on Steam isn't the highest. CS: GO peaks at around 1/2 million concurrent and Dota 2 peaks around 1 million concurrent users.
Still, 250k is similar to what Skyrim debuted at the time so definitely insanely popular still.
It's weird to me that Alex had almost the opposite impression of Headlander than Brad did. Brad complained about the controls when you're not just the head and Alex specifically said it felt really good. Maybe Brad being Brad at video games?
Wait, is that line from Alex about not cooking for 10 years serious? That had to be hyperbole for the sake of the ad, there's just no way someone could go that long without feeling constantly sick.
Nooooooo, who is going to champion the best Far Cry and the best Dark Souls now? I'm really going to miss Austin in that even when he disagreed he did so graciously.
With all this talk of Doom and Quake and Wolfenstein, I'd really love a proper re imaging of Rise of the Triad. There was that semi-recent remake that was good at capturing the spirit of the old game but it was a horribly unpolished game on top of having the same weaknesses the original had.
Also, that ad for that other podcast made me instantly not want to listen. That was the most r/iamverysmart description I have ever heard.
I love Total War and all but saying it's the biggest when Dawn of War 3 has been announced seems like a stretch unless I misunderstood and we're not counting 40k.
While I love Borderlands 1/2, I had zero faith in them being able to balance a multiplayer shooter. Class design/balance is incredibly difficult and you add the type of team dynamics that MOBAs have and you're probably going to end up with a mess.
These MP only events with game press that are notoriously not good at MP don't seem very flattering. I don't know who they would invite though if they want coverage aside from maybe streamers. Games press and youtubers have almost entirely diverged from MP shooters entirely.
