Sometimes people get away with scams, even lazy ones. When I was an assistant manager at Gamestop I had a lady come in.

Her: "Look, I'm just going to be honest...I bought this computer game at K-Mart but I'd like to return it here."

Me: "I'm sorry, ma'am, but I am not allowed to do that for obvious reasons."

Her: "That's terrible customer service."

Me: "I'd be happy to help you pick something out or answer any other questions you might have but I cannot refund you someone else's product let alone give you money for it."

Her: "You know I'm going to complain to your bosses, right?"

Me: "OK". (I think to myself, surely this won't come up again since I am doing my job and I'm being friendly)

- About a day later I get an irate call from my mouth breather of a district manager telling me that he doesn't care where she bought it from I have to help serve the "customer".

- Lady comes in the next day and I return the item. She even gives me the K-Mart receipt.

- I then am notified that I am getting written up for doing an improper return.

Seems perfectly legit to me.

I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.

Customer service may be one of the most underappreciated jobs. I've been doing online customer support for almost 6 years now and it's insane sometimes.

Will game of the year 2017 get a: Best/worst support email of the year category?

Can Rorie just do like a once a month premium podcast with one other random staff member wherein Rorie spends 20 minutes going over his weirdest email exchanges that month? I'd listen to that.

@sammo21: I was a manager at many retail stores for years and this is why I got out of retail for good. You follow the rules, enforce restraint on obvious, ridiculous demands from insane customers, then get reprimanded by DM for not giving in to them. No win situation....every day. Then it gets worse as groups of customers know they can abuse the system. Retail sucks!!

@evilcalvin: Thankfully I got out of retail, eventually. Work in IT for Volkswagen and I am very happy where I'm at now.
