Yeah. I've got a 2011 Asus laptop with a DVD drive. Don't use it much nowadays, though I did install the DVD version of Baldur's Gate a couple of weeks ago.

Playing Dishonored 2 right now. Serious GOTY contender there.

Provided that it doesn't get absolutely horrible reviews The Last Guardian will be on my Xmas wishlist this year.

Judgment is a solid game. It's just underwhelming compared to 3. I got it for free through some competition at work, so I would probably be way less charitable if I paid full price for it. People were likely burnt-out on the Gears formula when it came out, which is why it got a lukewarm reception.

Baird is a poor choice for protagonist, but there were some genuine improvements. The scoring and bonus objectives were fun to play around with.

Just bought XCOM 2, so the only AAA game on my radar now is Dishonored 2. So hyped for that!

Got two indie games coming up; there's one I will definitely buy (Night in the Woods) and one I will probably buy (Owlboy). NITW doesn't have a set release date, but the devs said it will be out this fall.

Edit: Might pick up Dragon Quest VII if I find the time for a 100-hour JRPG in my life. If The Last Guardian doesn't turn out to be massively disappointing I will put that on my Christmas wishlist.

They Bleed Pixels is the only one I can think of right now. Hadn't heard of it before the Quick Look. Saw the QL, bought the game and liked it a lot.

Right now I have two Halloween games: Alien Isolation and Until Dawn. I've played a little bit of Alien, haven't touched Until Dawn at all. On November 5th I'm going to see Alien and Aliens back-to-back in a theatre, so playing through Isolation feels very appropriate.

For the last year or so, I've been managing online stores and marketing for a pool and spa firm. Mostly my job consists of writing marketing materials, sometimes translating stuff from suppliers. I've also set up a few websites advertising pool enclosures and such. Unfortunately they won't need me during the next 6 or 7 months, so it's time to go job hunting again. I have a Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design, but finding an entry level position in tech is really difficult these days. Hell, even with 3 years of experience it seems pretty tough.

Can we please not let this thread devolve into yet another "unpopular" opinions discussion, people?

Here are my confessions:

  • I have never gotten past the first act of Diablo II. I've tried so many times that it's almost become a habit for me to stop right after the Blood Raven fight.
  • The first Mario game I ever beat was Super Mario Land. On the 3DS Virtual Console.
  • Despite being a huge Wind Waker fan, I can't remember if I actually beat the game back in the day.
  • I almost gave up on Baldur's Gate because I got brutally murdered by low-level enemies in the starting area. Turns out I hadn't been paying attention and thus wasn't aware of the pause feature.
  • Whenever I play Fallout 1, I start humming songs from Goof Troop: The Movie. My siblings watched that movie over and over when I first played Fallout, so they're forever fused together in my mind.

Suicide Squad: Will Smith and Margot Robbie perform well in a movie that doesn't deserve it. The rest of the cast are either flat or overact like crazy, but I can hardly blame them with a script so tonally inconsistent and cringe-inducing. One minute the Squad will be killing not-zombies left and right with Harley cracking terrible jokes. The next they're sitting in a bar, telling the audience about their troubled lives. Then it jumps back into another poorly-edited shootout. I really hated the soundtrack, which consists mainly of severely played-out classic rock. It's like someone looked at Guardians of the Galaxy and thought that soundtrack was cool, but didn't bother reflecting on why it fits the movie. Captain Boomerang is Australian, so of course they play "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" by AC/DC during his introduction. That alone speaks volumes about how creatively bankrupt Suicide Squad is. 1/5

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice: Several friends of mine claimed Suicide Squad was better than this. I don't know if I agree. Compared to Suicide Squad, Batman v. Superman seems almost coherent and it does have some sense of style to it. I don't really like that style, but it at least it's somewhat consistent. The movie spends the first 2 hours not doing anything interesting at all. Then the titular showdown happens and it just feels pointless. There's no gravitas, no reason to care why all this happens. It doesn't help that Henry Caville has zero charisma. Ben Affleck fares slightly better, even if he does seem rather bored at times. Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman was a pleasant surprise. The buildup and the reveal is actually pretty good, one of the few times Snyder's storytelling works. The same can't really be said for Jesse Eisenberg. He makes Luthor seem like the kind of dude who makes angry Youtube videos about atheism in his spare time. What an obnoxious and godawful performance. But at least he tried, right? 2/5

I think I'll give up on DC films from now on. Life's too short for this crap. I've watched other, better (way better) movies too lately. I'll post something about them later.

Obsidian and Star Trek.

I've thought about this a lot too. Would imagine there's quite a few Star Trek fans over at Obsidian.
