@mlarrabee: a) Basically you just didn't like where they took the story and that's fine, but none of what you mentioned are actual retcons. b) don't be so mad at 343 for the lore stuff since most of the things you have issue with took place under Bungie's watch.
I always felt that the much more superior mech game of the time was the Earthsiege series and the first Starsiege (before it became a Tribes FPS). These guys never talk about it...seems like Mechwarrior was way more popular...is this the consensus?
Also, Dan is wrong. Tomb Raider 1 & 2 were glorious (before it all went to poop), but I did play it on PC.
I don't know what it is about Summer Sanders, but when @drewbert said "She went to Cal!" I thought, "no she didn't, she went to Florida." I'm not sure why I thought that because as it turns out, we were both wrong. She went to Stanford.
Side note - I think it's time for Puyo Puyo Tetris to make a UPF return.
I think this article needs an update to reflect Dan's Challenge. Also I think it would be great if we could work out a way for people to choose team Dan or Team Patrick by doing so you would make an additional pledge to the charity of your team if your team looses you would pony up whatever your committed to initially. So if I side with Dan and Patrick beats the level I would have to add my five or ten bucks to Dan's 100. If enough people jumped on board it could be rally great even if the average donation was only a few bucks per person.
First of all, thanks for posting this, it was epic. And second, I....second your suggestion. Great idea to raise the donation.
One other thing. I hope this "war" doesn't end! Maybe Patrick is not the type to create levels, but it would be cool to see him and his followers put something together to challenge Dan or another GB editor to beat. I realize that there is massive crossover to those who watch his videos, but it could still be fun and even help make Patrick make something diabolical.
I haven't reached the end of this yet, but I think the best part of this was how seamless the transition from the periscope feed to the stream feed was in this archive.
I think this take on RE/shooters looks interesting, having the zambies there as a sort of impartial creep just hanging around (emergent gameplay!), but after 1 min I had to watch it on mute.
For someone who really likes tactical, methodic games like America's Army, Arma, and his realistic flight sims, it's kind of crazy how Drew is content to just turn this game into Call of Duty and kill everyone.
(I think it's fine for him to play how he wants, that's the beauty of the depth of the mechanics in MGSV, just saying it's interesting that HE is not even bothering to explore tactics)
