The last few weeks I've been mulling over the idea of purchasing an Xbox One or PS4. I don't make a ton of time for playing games, but both consoles have lowered in price and have pretty large libraries to select from.
The only games I try to play on day one are on Nintendo consoles, so I do own a Switch and 3DS.
Anyway, I bought an Xbox One S today, on sale for $199 with Forza Horizon 3 bundled in. I've really missed playing the Forza games so I'm happy to have access to them again, I even ordered Forza 7 on Amazon to secure the 20% discount.
At any rate, I'm now racking my brain to remember some of the games along the way that I thought looked interesting. Are there any major standouts or hidden gems that you would recommend in particular?
Fair enough. I definitely would have bought an NES classic had I found one, but I never did.
Maybe they have some intent to reprint these at some point, or release the collections on the Switch. In the meantime, yeah, they are absolutely missing out on some sales.
I mean, Nintendo is pretty smart. This is easy money for them.
I know people get worked up over these devices and the scarcity. Honestly I don't know if it's intentional or not.
One part of me would like to be upset that I can't just buy a thing that I want to buy. For a moment yesterday I considered rushing to Gamestop right after work. But then I thought about it some more and decided that $80 is a lot to spend on something impulsively.
I still think there's a possibility that the thing comes out and is readily available. Right now people are snatching them up because they are anticipating demand, but I wonder if that demand actually exists when it's out in the wild.
Of course, all signs point to yes. But it would be hilarious if a bunch of scalpers wound up with a ton of excess stock. I think that happened to some degree with the Black Friday New 3DS systems. For a long while, you could grab one on eBay for about a $10 markup.
I feel the same way about this that I did about the NES classic. At a certain point, the amount of work it takes to get one of these things should be considered payment for the device. It's just not worth the time and effort to get the privelege to then spend $60-$80.
If I happen to stumble across some stock, online or in-store, I'll grab one. But I'm drawing the line at putting in work to hunt one down, or paying a cent more than it retails for.
It's a cool collectors item, but it's really not worth the hassle.
Highly recommend avoiding games before bed if you can help it. Some people can do it, but I'm like you, if I play something right before bed I get restless.
Try to avoid eating too late as well, or exercising right before bed.
Probably the best thing to do would be to read, but I know that's not everyone's cup of tea.
