Wow, I'm pretty sure I have that shitty how to draw manga book buried in my closet right now. I remember buying that at the book fair in elementary school along with a Garfield Dictionary.

I had that "How to Draw Manga" book as a kid. I think I got it for buying over $35 worth of books from a Scholastic catalog or something.

I had sinus surgery and a deviated septum surgery a few years back due to horrible sinus infections/migraines I used to get...best decision ever! Sinues are waaaay better these days!

I also had that exact How to Draw Manga book.

That book was responsible for stopping any improvements in my drawings for several months, at least. It was a wake up call being told to do still life drawings and start learning fundamentals.

Did we all have this book? I had this one and a orange book that had a thick cover that had some basic drawing tools (pencil, eraser, fancy ink pen, and like four or five water color pools),

MGS4 dream sequence has you play OG MGS1. You wake up and still have the MGS1 face for a second.

That blades UI for Xbox360 was never THAT good. The current UI is fine, it just needs to be snappier.

Jeff's weird hangups about playing games as the developers intended is so bizarre to me. The developers, for example, included options to turn off items and choose your stage... I get the idea of wanting people to play games where the company actually gives a crap about how people like to play it, but developers also aren't perfect, y'know?

best dream sequences for me are the ones in Night In The Woods. super affecting audiovisually, and the track Astral Alley in particular is one of my favorite songs in a game in... 5 years? 10?

The biggest bummer about Persona 5 was the inability to 1 day clear the dungeons, such a weird bummer choice.

@janman I have been watching someone play through Persona 5 Royal recently (apparently Atlas is fine with streaming on Twitch, but not posting on YouTube?) and he got a ton of free accessories when he started that basically just recover SP constantly. Enough for all characters. I don't know if it is a Royal thing, or a DLC thing, but you might want to look into it, as it could alleviate the most frustrating part for you, allowing you to complete Palaces in a couple days.

I don't really play fighting games, but some prominent FGC people really like Sonic The Fighters, so it was weird hearing Ben bash it so hard. And it was surprising to hear that Jeff even had an opinion, much less a pretty positive one!

I think a hole has to be an addition to something right? A change to it's original form that, by removal, has added an opening of some kind.

So a straw, which is formed in that state, has no holes. It's just a tube.

OR

A straw is a hollow cylinder with a hole on the top & bottom.

OR

A straw is a cylinder with one hole going through it.

It is an impossible question because english is invented and did not account for every possible use case. Language is a tool. Not some nonsense decree from above You Must Conform Too.

There is no right or wrong, there is only whether you correctly communicated what you meant to or not.

Toss one more in for having owned that drawing book when I was a kid.

A straw has zero holes, it is a tube. If it has a hole in it, its on the side and irritates you while you're drinking.

RE: Good dream sequences in games. Isn't Psychonauts just a series of (mostly great) dream sequences? Everyone zonks out and goes wall-eyed when you throw that door onto their head.

Best dream sequence in game: Need for Speed: Underground.

This game starts with a dream sequence that basically serves as an abilitease where you have a good car and get to race a bit at the high speeds the game will eventually reach, before you start the game proper with a entry level car and low speeds.

Full disclosure though, Most Wanted (original one) started the same way, but in that case it was a flashback, not a dream.

The Giant Bomb movies & TV bubble (aside from Alex at least) continues on. Louie Anderson has remained busy, especially on the FX series Baskets throughout its four-season run, playing the mother (yes, he was in drag) of the main character (Zach Galifianakis), and winning an Emmy for it.

I think everyone had this book.

Love some of the emails but Ben trying hard to be funny really bummed me this episode.

Mafia 1 was loved because of its great story, characters and world. It had nothing to do with the traffic laws gimmick. I still think it has the best story of a GTA/GTA clone game, Sleeping Dogs comes close too.

@emuleader: Ben plays Smash, which isn’t a real fighting game, so his opinions are obviously skewed. There is a reason he doesn’t wear a scientist coat.

Got to say, that hole discussion was one of the best tangents the podcast has had in a long time. Keep them coming, guys, and thanks for all the hard work on this time...

The lack of Half-Life Alyx buzz is absolutely because of the lack of headsets out in the public. I'm sure there are plenty of people like me who would definitely play that game, but can't because they've never even seen a VR setup in person.

I've had Terraria on my Steam account since some super early Humble Bundle or something years and years ago, but I've never even considered playing it. Maybe I finally should...

I'm with Jeff on that celebrity email - I've never had any desire to meet a celebrity. I don't really consider myself a fan of any, either. Unless you count internet personalities like the GB crew, but that's a different category in my eyes.

I get that people who play games competitively can be snobby assholes, but the people who go "you shouldn't be playing the game that way because it's not how the developer intended it!" can be just as snobby-assholey.
