That there is a picture of Eddie Van Halen. I guess I'm listening to the bombcast immediately this week.

EDIT: Stopped at 12:21... Man, I miss the old Bombcast

Interesting. I find the new lineup more interesting than the last at times

Not sure how anybody is still surprised to hear Dan hasn't experienced something. He enjoys a set of things like cheese and wrestling but isn't keen to seek out new stuff on his own. That's how he rolls for better or worse. Mostly worse.

I love how many people say Scientology is so Crazy and then follow what happened in the Bible as completely OK and real.

The beliefs of both are equally daft to me but the criminal activity allegedly perpetrated by high-ranking members of Scientology is what brings the most criticism of late, it seems.

That Scientology documentary was kinda weird. Like it was definitely super surprising how fucked up and crazy it is. But it was just like one thing after another and at a certain point I was getting kinda bored of it.

@brad@jeff This sounds like it's getting pretty spoiler-heavy for Bloodborne. Maybe a spoiler warning note like last time would be appropriate.

If you mean the time between Ryan passing away and Dan and Jason starting, then I agree. Those podcasts were understandably tough.

I should have been more detailed. I mean the old podcasts with Ryan hosting. For example:

http://www.giantbomb.com/podcasts/giant-bombcast-03-24-2009/1600-72/

Those podcasts were a mix of really smart conversations (really witty, very intelligent, super spontaneous) and great opinions about video games. I would call that the classic era of the podcast.

That became more structured and unfortunately started to lose a lot of the magic (remember those awful never-ending segments of Jeff reading the DS store updates, eventually Ryan canceled that segment).

The podcast started to get really good again with the addition of Patrick. The first podcasts with Patrick are smart and very sarcastic. He brought a really fresh younger opinion. And very factual. It was genuinely interesting to hear him talk about the industry and news in detail.

The latest podcasts are just really bland. The dialogue, particularly between Jeff and Dan, is very pedestrian. Wrestling, TV, AAA movies, some AAA games. I'm not insulting the podcast just for fun. Go back and listen to the old dynamic. I think the magic is totally gone.

@bombaluigi: that's two things, not every other sentence. Yeah first one was a simple fact check, second one was drew playing the game in his off time and just relaying his experience; not everybody pays special scrutiny to version numbers. Neither are big enough of a deal to get that upset over. And as you said, a simple search would give you that info so it's readily available if you want it. The podcast and videos aren't exactly meant to be encyclopedic fonts of knowledge. But again, not a big deal either way.

Is the podcast fucked up again? At minute 64 Jeff sounds skippy talking about Captain America uniforms. Maybe it's time to retire Audacity.

I keep playing Destiny because it's total gaming comfort food - super solid gunplay, familiar environments that I've practically memorized every inch of at this point, a clan of people that I enjoy playing with, and every now and then the RNG gods smile on me (I got a Jolder's Hammer and then a Thunderlord in back to back Iron Banner games last week!) and the loot draw becomes strong again.

Some people want to play different games every day and get bored with the same thing over and over again, others like things that are reliable and solid. Diablo 3 used to be that game for me, Destiny has taken its place. House of Wolves looks to be improving a lot of things that need improving (365 Fatebringer and Vex Mythoclast, here I come) while leaving the solid core that I enjoy in place.

So things were better before, when you were younger? Colour me surprised.

As a Mexican American, I gotta tell you guys Cinco De Mayo isn't about Mexican Independence. That day is in September. It's actually a day which marks a victory in a battle against the French. Beer companies hopped on it & made into something bigger to make money.

Input mapper is fantastic, but the initial pairing process is obnoxious, especially in Windows 7.

I have a DS4, with a much larger capacity battery mod, specifically for my PC just so I dont have to bounce it back and forth between platforms.

It even works if you turn the controller on after launching the game.

Dan's great... Of course the dynamic is different as Dan isn't Ryan Davis and expecting anyone else to be is completely unfair. He's still pretty entertaining and having followed his work at Game Informer him joining GB influenced me to resub.

I don't really understand posting negative comments. You pay for it, so you can say whatever you want... I just don't know how making people feel bad about what they create makes you feel better.

You actually still can play even call of duty 1/2 online. And you can pretty much always find a game.

@jetlag: Just that one time as far as I could hear. And Brad said that it wasn't up to them to change it, it's the way the podcast studio is set up. But from the last Bombcast it sounded like the Bombcast crew was getting a new podcasting studio soon (probably a new CBSi studio?), so I'm guessing that'll be more up to date (the studio they use now is still running Windows XP).

I like State Of Decay despite its flaws. My biggest gripe is that game time moves a bit too quickly which results in a lot of repetitive micro-managing since your crew is always depressed or needs help in the field. It becomes like The Sims. I think I missed a chunk of the game by putting off a story mission that expired (everyone at The Courthouse died), just because I was busy keeping my crew happy.

A video game music trivia segment would be welcome once in a while. Do it on UPF, make them buzz in to answer or something while producer plays something from unknown game.
