@millaj: I'm not sure what SSID is (a Social Security thing?), but I will at some point start looking into what options I have for getting some sort of coverage somehow. From uh...Oh man, I forget what it was that my dad called it, but basically a thing for people that can't afford it but need it and it's kinda related to the government? Hell, I don't know. But yeah, I'm going to have to start putting more time and effort into finding something if I can't get a good job in the next year.

Chronic illness really does suck, and especially in the GI tract since, in my experience, no one really knows how the fuck most of it works on a truly fundamental level, and treating these issues is such a difficult and complex problem.

Just popped in to say: hippies were right, they've been more right about most things than the people who hated them, and to the extent that people 'hate hippies' I tend to write them off.

If you think back to the 60s and what the majority of those people were advocating, we're already there in 2014. They correctly predicted the future in a bunch of ways and (to me), hearing people joke about not liking them is like hearing people make jokes about 'the French'. It's just a political thing from people who are kinda conservative and don't like admitting that hippies were ahead of the curve.

Just a little weird hearing people who openly talk about binge drinking in the most obviously irresponsible way possible (to their young audience) then turn around and throw some shade at hippie-dom. Brad could sense the disconnect and I could tell he wanted to say more.

@mooseymcman: SSID is a government disability program. There are also other programs, with some variations on what they provide and for whom they provide. Depends on your circumstances. Of course, like anything related to the government, it is usually a byzantine and completely exasperating process... If you do decide to look into or pursue something like that, I wouldn't wait too long to start. Not sure how long you have until you turn 26, but like I said, very byzantine process.

@millaj: Ah, yes, disability. I'd rather avoid that if at all possible. Well, I guess that's just pride getting the better of me, you know?

@mooseymcman: It's cool. I know those feelings. Like I said, there are other programs and forms of support that aren't really "disability". Some are just supplemental. If you work things out another way, that's great. I was just suggesting you consider all your options. I've found this out the hard way: don't fuck yourself over because of pride or shame. These programs exist to be used, and you do what you gotta do to get by. I wish you the best, either way!

My view re: drugs is either legalize marijuana or make alcohol illegal - Dan certainly agrees that marijuana is objectively safer than alcohol. So I don't know what people are up in arms about, JFC. The two things are equivalent in my mind - I've suffered so much more at the hands of alcoholics than regular pot smokers. Hard drugs are an entirely different story though and Dan has every right to dislike them.

Also lol @ people whose entire problem with AC Unity is that the resolution is cut back a bit.

I canceled my preorder of Destiny and now I don't know if I'll ever be ready to commit to buying it. With it being long-term or w/e will there actually ever be a price drop? That aside I was under the impression that Brad kinda likedShadow of the Colossus from the HD QL. Also I looked up castoreum and apparently it's used in sweets. Oh well because I will never give up sweets.

Resolution is entirely determined by GPU. Being CPU-bound makes no sense as a reason.

PS4's GPU is well-known to be at least 30% more powerful if not more.

The difference between 1080p and 900p is ~40% pixels.

This is the reason why many games end up higher resolution on PS4.

The dev's original controversial answer makes the most sense as to why both versions are 900p. Why they wanted to avoid debate? I don't know. CPU-bound? Nonsense.

I can't believe Dan is the guy that told the catfish story on the E3 Bombcast, though I shouldn't be surprised.

At the time people were encouraging me to try online dating but then after hearing Dan's story I was almost completely scared off. I remember thinking, 1) My God this guy is terrible, and 2) Holy shit! Dating is stressful enough as is, now I have to worry about possibly being pranked?!?!?!

Eventually I was talked off the ledge and gave online dating a shot and now I'm married. Still at the time Dan's story added a whole other level of stress to my already anxiety ridden life. Thanks Dan!

How I think the Microsoft/Ubi-Soft Assassin's Creed resolution conversation went down over the phone.

Microsoft Guy: Hey! We're really excited about Assassin's Creed this quarter, How's development going?

Ubi Soft Guy: Well we're actually having a resolution problem on the Xbox version of the game, we just can't get it to match the Playstation version.

Microsoft Guy: Oh, wow! Well, we'd really appreciate if both games had identical specs. Do what you gotta do.

So Ubi-Soft just made the Playstation version match the Xbox version, because bringing the Xbox version up to spec was just too difficult. This doesn't have to involve two trench coat wearing guys with smoky voices handing off envelopes full of money. Ubi just made the two games run at the same resolution to make Microsoft happy and keep the co marketing dollars coming in.

@fitzcarraldo: its because brad latches onto things like DOTA and Destiny, and subjectively defends it... Destiny is a huge let down, and Jeff needs to keep poking him about it

I'm not surprised Brad or Dan (especially Dan) isn't into Alien: Isolation. It has a lot of unforgiving systems in play--like the saving system that harkens back to survival horror Resident Evil--that I could already tell would be divisive. As for me personally, it's because of those very punishing idiosyncrasies that have added to my enjoyment of the game.

With regards to the saving system, I find the idea that you could potentially lose progress has only made the alien even more of a menacing fucker when he's prowling just around the corner. Plus because the alien AI isn't scripted, that means you won't just keep dying over and over again in the same spot. It's not like every run through a section is going to be drastically different, but the alien can be just unpredictable enough that reloading a save doesn't entirely feel like you're going through the motions again. It's certainly harsh, but the fact this sort of system even exists in a big budget release I think is fucking incredible. It's also a very intentional design decision at that and I wouldn't say it's slapdash or anything of the sort.

Also, big ups to @rorie for actually searching the wiki to find out some related information! I swear, it's not even funny anymore as to how much disregard the wiki gets on the site these days from the staff. There's not even that recurring gag of ''add it to the page!'' anymore whenever a common trope or mechanic is encountered.

Also, @jeff@danryckert Saints Row introduced a fast travel taxi mechanic before GTA.

Insight for Mr. Shoemaker: I personally like hearing your ideas and your laser focus is entertaining. But this is not now "your baby". It is our baby. It is not your forum. It is a podcast for us to be entertained by stories and hear about games/gaming.

Keep the ball in play, do not try to influence the score.

When a podcast is done right, we should have no idea who is leading it. You are the moderator. Your opinion shares equal weight with everyone, not more because you are leading the Bombcast. Because you are directing the flow, you have to take more and more of your bias/personal insight out of the way. For some reason, you think you are now "in charge". How do we know this? You constantly tell us the "power you now have", and your "executive decisions". Great leaders lead others not by telling them "I am the leader", but by leading them with passion and vision. This is not your podcast now. It is ours.

Lead it anyway you like, but do not dominate and challenge everything you do not agree with. If you want that, do your own podcast. Let this one evolve and progress without a heavy hand. We want to hear it all, including your thoughts.

Only Dan can speak so confidently about things he knows nothing about! A large majority of the people at Burning Man are not doing drugs! Reno's fucking Rotary Club goes! The Gathering of the Juggalos is far worse in the drug department then Burning Man. The cops do arrest people at Burning Man but turn a blind eye to minor drug use. Why? Because Burning Man brings the State and the City of Reno lots of tax money! The tax money recieved does far more good then the burners do bad. Also, America has more prisoners then any other country! A large amount of the prisoners incarcerated in our prisons are there for victimless crimes! The reason for that is because the prisons are run by 3rd party for profit companies. Profit creates demand! If all drugs were legal tomorrow would you develope a heroin habbit? Ofcourse not! If drugs were legal only druggies would take them. This would lead to more overdoses which leads to less people on the planet stealing my oxygen!

Dan sounds extremely ignorant and judgmental of recreational psychedelic intake. So people do LSD on occasion, but where does he come off getting to act all high and mighty when he's admitted to vomiting hundreds of times from drinking excessive amounts of alcohol? So the people who do hallucinogens are drug-abusive assholes (even though hallucinogens such as LSD are far less addictive than alcohol or even marijuana), but chugging alcohol is suddenly cool? Fuck that.

They got the Alien Isolation stuff incorrect. I wonder if they'll talk about it more later... Then again, maybe I won't want to hear it.

I'm with Jeff on the Alien's design. It's head is just GOOFY. The mouth is scary, but the head covers that up.

Dan thinks police should raid Burning Man because people are using drugs in a finite space and time and yet it's somehow normative that he and his father frequently eat Taco Bell and drink to the pont of passing out.

I don't think you've listened to enough of the Giant Bombcast if you think that.

Burning Man sounds excellent. You can do whatever you want, you can literally avoid everyone if you are afraid of things that are unknown to you.

That's so weird. I love that dating prank story but I completely forgot that it was Dan's story.
