Amazing game title - even CSI screenwriters couldn’t have come up with a better fake game name

Horrid title aside, I'd like to try the game since I'm still yearning for more BotW-esque games.

This is weird, like bizzaro-Hades. Pomegranates seem to be in use too.

My hope is that as you progress the combat gets more fantastical. It looks very pretty tho.

Shame they only let folks show 20 mins. I would love a deeper dive.

I'm currently getting my BotW exploration fix from Genshin, so this isn't doing a lot for me. On top of that, the tone and humor seems pretty generic and boring.

This also coming out after Hades puts it in a bad place in terms of characterization, too. The interpretation of Greek mythology in Hades is so damn cool that anything coming directly afterwards is sure to look & feel uninspired, but this seems particularly bland.

Oh christ, first Genshin and now this? How long until BotW becomes a genre?

Hey Guys hear me out, what if, what if we take all the mythology stuff from Odyssey, a little bit of Kassandra, and smash it in to a Breath of The Wild game?

That's gotta be the most frail sounding Zeus I've ever heard. Interesting direction there. This is still more palatable to me than Genshin so maybe this is where I get my BOTW knockoff fix.

i'm not a fan of how the character looks, i Don't know if it's how the video was cut together but the world seems a bit lifeless.

although if it can be a good BOTW like game i'd like to try.

No lie this is even less inspired than I thought it would be and it's almost impressive.. That sounds mean but like, this is the most inoffensive safe and idea/identity confusion safe 'playstaion 2' game Ubisoft stereotype of a game I've seen yet. Hmm, Hmmmsmmmm..

The writing in this is uhh... Really bad. Don't get me wrong - I would not want to be a Greek God themed game in a post-Hades world but... dentist jokes? Zeus has a weird moment where he reminisces about getting high and marrying off Aphrodite? Woof.

The tone etc looks bad here but can we please stop acting like Hades is good? That game has the worst dialogue and jokes. I couldn't even finish the quick looks it was so annoying.

This looks pretty bad. Like, in a bunch of ways. The character models are pretty ugly, the hair looks fucking greasy. And after Hades just kind of blew me away with its own thing, this is one of the most uninspired takes on Greek Mythology I've seen in awhile. It seems like this game has no idea how to be funny but is trying very hard. That level up sequence with the badly animated training montage actually made me cringe. Unfinished so maybe they'll make it better but bad writing is bad writing and I doubt that is going to change.

These botw clones replacing the weapon and armour systems with loot systems is also extremely off-putting to me. But at least Genshin Impact seems to have some things going for it besides just ripping off Botw; like fundamentally what that games about is a bit counter to what Botw is and I think it benefits from that in setting itself apart.

Also just like, fuck Ubisoft? With the context of everything going on with them right now the flaws in this game strike me as being the product of those issues and I just can't ignore it.

I was really looking forward to this game but man, hearing that the humour is comparable to Borderlands really puts me off. I thought Borderlands was cringey when it was new, never mind ageing badly.

@maikeruwiruson: Can't stand Borderlands, either. This looks more Saturday morning cartoon and less Seth Macfarlane though. Nothing in the video seemed inherently off putting to me. Cheeky, but not really the sardonic stuff I got out of Borderlands.

Idk, folks seem really hard on this. It looks pretty inoffensive. I just can't imagine being that mad at it. I like games that give you lots of customization options, and this looks like it's entertaining enough for me to play a lot of while listening to podcasts. I love these kind of chill, not super demanding games for that.

It's like Hades and BOTW stepped into the Fly machine and this is the monstrosity that came lurching out.

I don't know about the game, but I am here for this very readable 2005 looking UI.

I was trying to figure out how I felt about this, and settled on it looking kind of... average. Not something that I would want to spend any time on. The humour seems an odd mish mash of jokes that would appeal to my kids (the dentist joke), and those that might appeal to a teenager (the getting high jokes). Maybe that's the issue, that this game isn't for a 42 year old.

It doesn't seem terrible at all, just not something that grabbed me based upon what I saw here.

Visually, this reminds me a lot of Kingdoms of Amalur, which was . . . fine? It also gave me absolutely no reason to play it again, which is sort of the vibe I'm getting from this. Like, why would I want to play this game? What's the killer, cool feature? Everything about it screams "focus group!"

In a world where I have played a bunch of Hades and Genshin Impact before seeing this game... at least it's an unfinished and not releasing because BOY that's unlucky timing.

I wasn't sold on this game, but I really enjoyed the vibe of it and will probably buy it now (so long as reviews don't say it's shit)

Was interested in this, but you lost me at "Borderlands humour" and this looks especially bad after playing through Hades.

I have been finding Ubisoft games less and less of interest lately, and unsure if I am the only one.

after playing a bit of the demo, holy shit the humor sucks in this game.

The gameplay is pretty ok, but the "jokes" kill it for me.

Overall my take away from this is that I don't have a Nintendo console so I can't play Zelda and I don't really like the gatcha nature of Genshing Impact but I do like this sort of game with an open world and unlockable equipment a-la Metroid. I also like Greek mythology in games because I think it lends itself really well to both the setting and enemies which there are tons to choose from in the source material - so all in all this looks pretty cool to me. I think the graphics look nice and the combat seems snappy. I especially like the slowdown effect on the perfect parry.

Ubi's really on a roll with instantly forgettable generic titles, as they recently announced that Steep follow-up called Riders Republic.

I mistakenly heard "I think they call Hermes a 'twink'" and that instantly made the game way more interesting for me.

Deleted Genshin Impact and this might be a nice enough replacement, but I want to know if the fighting gets any more interesting. The humor doesn't seem anywhere close to as annoying as Borderlands from what we can see in the video, but it's not exactly funny either. Gives me sort of a PS2 era Jak & Daxter feel, and that's not necessarily bad.

Played the demo and it's really boring and clunky. They copied all the surface of BOTW and none of what made it fun to play

So generic... The character design is alright, and the world is pretty.. but not digging it. Hope people have fun with this but I'm going to pass.

This looks like it could be an enjoyable enough time waster if you turn the dialogue off. Not worth the $60 I'm sure they are charging for it, but in a year or two when I can get it on a sale for for half that I'll probably give it a shot.

How come crash bandicoot 4 is getting ghosted on GB. They dont even mention it on podcast. Id understands if the game was trash but in many ways, its better than the mario collection they scoff at. About on par in quality as the mario collection. IDK man, i hope come goty they dont just pass a bunch of decent games with the caveat that they bounced off or never got to it then give goty to COD or Animal crossing hades etc.

This game looks aggressively like... bad, to me. Looks like a like launch-title rental. Very PS2 bargain binnish.

I'm not getting seeing anyone acting as if Supergiant invented Greek mythology with Hades, but rather they took the base concepts and made a way more interesting interpretation of Greek mythology that what has been seen in any game.

The VO and dialogue I'm seeing from this is reminding me of all those cheap terrible foreign animated films that are all over the kid's sections of streaming services, with d-list actors doing the voices for a payday. I think it's the bad jokes, the awkward pacing of the dialogue, VO that sounds like untrained ESL instead of voice actors doing accents, and then all of that combined with trying to break the fourth wall. It's a mess.

This really just made me appreciate how well designed BOTW is. Also how pivotal something like weapon degredation and proper stamina bars are to make the world feel alive and the player a part of it. Everything looks so static and plain.
