Jeff is now officially the lone contributor to the upkeep of Game Room. If it wasn't for these videos it'd be dead.

I haven't been in Game Room in months and months. Maybe I'll dust off my virtual Road Fighter cabinet.

I'm with everyone else that these weekly Quick Looks are a stealth Endurance Run. Really I think the fact that they put out these weird games like Checkers every week wouldn't be so bad if they just had more volume. Seven games a week with a few duds isn't that bad, but four games where literally three of them are pretty throwaway isn't good at all. I wonder if they're not getting the content deals they need, because they're still working with the same set of companies. They could use a Namco, or a new system like the Colecovision.

Game Room needs Space Invaders, Pac-Man, and Galaxians.

Don't stop these, please.  I love every one of them.  It's like a weekly endurance run for me.

When it dies I hope Microsoft offer a refund.

Wow, I remember playing some free eastern european game named something like LADA CHALLENGE that was a lot like the top down car combat game here.

It was for DOS though, and had an epic rock version of The Internationale as soundtrack instead.

I jumped that dude...

Glad to see some arcade games again...

Checkers was crazy, even in 1980, my friend had it and even he was bummed that his folks spent good money on it for him.
 
City Bomber is awesome.  It's one of those games you remember vaguely but aren't sure if you imagined it as a mixing pot of other games or not.  This game is where all the imagined modes for Spy Hunter came from, like turning into a jet and shooting the helicopters.  A better Spy Hunter II than the real Spy Hunter II.
 
Pinball is pinball, the upper screen was pretty cool for the time.
 
Tennis.  This was the first time I played a Tennis video game and got interested in it.  I enjoy video sports games like these that are simple but hectic.  It was crazy fast for the day when you look at games like Ice Hockey and Basketball.
 
I'm really bummed out about Game Room.  It has the potential to be something special, and it's just getting pissed away due to bad decisions early on.

There was never really a time that we only had these games to entertain us.  There were LOTS of really good games in the later 70's and early 80's available to us to play.  With the exception of a few classics like asteroids, centipede, and pitfall, they simply aren't on this service.  The problem isn't that there weren't any good games, the problem is that Microsoft apparently only has contracts to release games from a couple of companies.   "

We have to be in the final days of Game Room. Krome layed off a bunch of people, no new companies are coming online and the releases are getting thin. Really a pitty.

Yeah, these are definitely some of my favorite quick looks. Almost like an Endurance Run.

Pinball sound effects are win.

Game Room could/should be great, from a personal standpoint I would only really be interested if it had games from the 16 bit era as well as the interface running smoothly.
 
Still I can't help but feel a bit sad that Game Room looks like this it is all but a failure at this point.

This undoubtedly has  been said already but did MS consider touching up any of these titles before bringing them back? Did they not acquire the rights to do that? Because this week's releases have some charm & would be playable with some minor AI and visual enhancements. But as the guys pointed out totally not worth the money as-is. Thanks again, very funny vid.

Came across this video on a Game Room QL playlist, and this is just so weird, with Alex being introduced as "Screened's Alex Navarro" and his not being as deep and the comments being pleasantly surprised to see Alex in a Giant Bomb video and wondering why the site doesn't cover retro games regularly.

Rorie and dogs are eternal, though.
