This game has the potential to be pretty cool, but I didn't see anywhere near enough overlapping shadows in this QL. That's really it's only trick that can separate itself from every other platformer out there.

I'm 16 and I know what Fitzcarraldo is bitches. I hate all Werner Herzog films.

Not that interested in this actually, most of what I've seen from trailers and such doesn't show you doing anything interesting with the shadows. Half of the time, you might as well just walk on the actual platforms.

Jumping on shadows seems redundant when there's a perfectly good platforming level right in front of the wall you're running on.  Here's hoping they take the mechanic a little bit farther later in the game.  In the demo the concept feels wasted to me.

Anyone who hates on Alex is a fucking idiot. The dude is awesome, and I'm happy he is now with Whiskey Media. Giantbomb pretty much has every person that I liked from Gamespot, save maybe Rich Gallup.

I like Alex a lot more when he's not in Snarky Mode (like in this vid)! :)

Cool concept, and I'm liking the Ico vibe that I'm getting. Hopefully the later levels get crazier with the use of shadow though.

Nothing about this game seems appealing to me.  I want to be more specific, but you could pick anything we saw in this quick look and I could tell you what I don't like about it.

Alex is fine, I'm sure the GB guys are really busy with all of these games out. More video content is great, no matter who sits in. (not that Alex isn't cool, he very much is.) 
 
As for the game, it looks very interesting. I wish this comes out to other platforms (pc).

I wonder at some of the responses to this thread (less so this post, but I'll suggest something shortly). I consider WM to be a team, pooling resources where it makes most sense like any other well managed team. Alex has a history of reviewing games and if the GB team area bit short owing to release scheduling then it makes great sense to pull in Alex for this. Likewise if anybody wanted a background story on a new Batman game then ComicVine would be good for advice? It would be odd if Ryan introduced himself as being from Whiskey Media even if he has adopted a role as host, you can't please all the people all the time and some might think that he was distancing himself from GB if he didn't stick to those roots. He mentions Whiskey Media enough, but the GB brand still needs promotion to stand against other established gaming sites. It's probably their strongest site, maybe the WM teams all need to stand on their own merit, but why not help each other out? "

Dude. I was just want him to say "Hi I am Ryan Davis and . . .  "But, your extensive analysis of nothing was pretty amusing.

Looks great. A cross between Ico and Limbo. Instantly on my Christmas Wishlist and its already out in this country, so great!

This just looks fantastic.

:S you might aswell  play the game in the foreground what a load of rubbish, but hey thats the Wii for ya

The thing I like most about Alex is just how incredibly positive he seems in the Quick Looks, I think his break from game journalism has maybe helped prevent much cynicism. 
 
That said, while I love the aesthetics of the game, the gameplay seems pretty standard platformy, unfortunately.

they should make a ps3 version.

Just to get meta for a minute, is it possible to Quick Look a demo?  I guess they didn't go right to the end.... 
 
@Winternet:  I think you might have been less annoyed if Ryan had also said "Alex Navarro from Screened.com" which would have made more sense in context.
But, whatever.

remember that Beck video for "Deadweight" where Beck's shadow was walking and dragging Beck himself as the shadow?  Well..anyway

Sure

Love the look, but a European review I read mentioned that the platforming never really takes advantage of the shadow mechanic. If so, that's a disappointing waste of a great idea.

Great job as always RD.
Brilliant level design. Just thinking of how the designers have to keep the background as the focus for the game play is almost mind blowing.Totally original idea looking forward to playing.

I forgot to mention this gimmick in my yarn Kirby post: shadow platformer! I don't find this game very interesting. From what I've seen in this demo, the game is essentially a 2D black silhouette platformer; this could be an original Gameboy title.
