I love that Jeff has someone to really geek out on fighting games with now. Also, yay to Jason for getting a lot of screen time from the recent quick looks this week.

As someone, who hated fighting games, am i allowed to say that this looks by a country mile better than any of the 2014’s quicklooked fighting game?

I totally owned this game on PS1! That was back during the time that I actually played fighting games(not much for competitive multiplayer). It was pretty great too.

KoF 98 is okay, but it's no Garou.

Also, I had the complete opposite opinion than @jeff about Street Fighter vs Art of Fighting back in the day. To me it was like "Yeah, no fireballs or weird magic. This is like real, gritty fighting! You can bust open King's shirt* and characters will procedurally get damaged in the face! "

I eventually ended up preferring Street Fighter since that's all my friends were playing...

*In any game she is in to this day, King still get her shirt busted open if she get's KO'd with a special attack. REALISM, YO! :D

I didn't know that this was the official week of fighting games.

I was all like, awesome, another version of KoF98UM, cool, I might get it someday, but I still have several other versions of KoF98UM I could play if I could set stuff up. Then I heard Athena's theme and started singing along to it because GOD DAMN that song is great and now I need it.

Man, Ralf. Ikari Warriors in a fighting game. I never really thought about how KoF is basically SNK Smash Brothers, way before Smash Brothers was a thing.

God this looks fun. I should really get back into fighting games.

@dazzhardy: Random Fact: Athena's theme from Psycho Soldier is supposedly the very first piece of video game music to have vocalized singing. The theme for the game was released on cassette tape along with copies of Athena for NES.

Old fighting game character names were the best of the best.

Noticed that every time they play fighting games. It's because Jeff just starts rushing down with what basic knowledge he has while everyone else is still trying to find out what the moves are.

I was thinking the same thing. @Jeff still took the matches, but at least it wasn't the murderfest we usually see.

All these fighting games this week, reminds me of some of the less interesting live shows where Jeff just keeps on beating everyone he plays. Very boring.

The only way to play Garou is to buy an MVS cabinet and plug it in.
