Unfinished: Destiny 07/18/2014

I'll wait for PC version. If there is one, if not, oh well. I have a PS4 I just dont like using it. I'll likely sell it soon if I don't see any exclusives.

Insulting someone for making a tiny joke isn't exactly a great attitude to have.

@neoathanasius: its primarily cause of how they hyped this game up, how its gonna be expanded upon for the next 10 years (obviously that ill include a destiny 2,3,4 and expansion packs)

so its a curiosity on how much content they are holding back for this first iteration of destiny.

The more I see the more I feel like this game is going to match Titanfall for unwarranted hype. I'm more excited for it than Titanfall because I love Borderlands and Halo combat/multiplayer. But it doesn't look like much more than that with some thin MMO concepts.

Though I'm hoping the release version is more polished and has more content, because as is there are some issues and it could grow tedious fairly quickly. They better be holding back a more engrossing story and missions.

@spacecouncil: I would be pretty shocked if they skipped PC altogether. It's what I'll probably hold out for.

Game looks real neat, I was never a big Halo fan outside of local multiplayer nonsense so I have no bias toward Bungie. I can't play shooters with a controller, though, so I hope it's successful and forces their hand on PC.

Combat looks fun and the graphics are beautiful. I'm not big into multi-player stuff, so hopefully there is a strong story in the full game to tie it through. I kind of had my fill with repetitive areas with Dragon Age 2 so that makes me a little wary of this.

Dan does a good job asking questions and keeping the information flow going during the quick look. But yeah the whole "I just played the game instead of reading some dumb book about Halo." was an odd comment. There was kind of an implication there that people who read books based on franchises are losers. And its like, dude, do you know who your audience is?

I wish my PS4 would get here so I could punch people too.

Game looks really boring

I'll probably pick this up on PS3 later, but I could totally see playing the alpha and betas actually souring people on the game, having to return to the same environments like this. I hope the full game will have a lot more variety.

I am so into this game. It's a ton of fun to play.

Not sure why everyone is saying this looks boring, graphics look great, liking the designs on the environments and enemies, seems like the talent tree has alot of options, and the basic combat stuff looks great. Can't wait to punch dudes in the face!

Every time I see Destiny footage I really want to re-download PSO2.

Looks like a pretty great shooter trapped within shitty MMORPG tropes but also without the good parts of an MMO which is a large sense of community and exploration of huge areas with your friends. Meh.

Only between the same family of consoles, i.e. you can carry a character between PS3 and PS4 but not to an Xbox, and between Xbox 360 and Xbox One but not a Playstation system.

@maxb: Exactly. The game plays extremely smooth and looks fantastic so far. We already know there are going to be other accessible planets so the complaints about environments makes zero sense. The gameplay feels like Halo so if you like that, it'll feel good. Some people don't and that's valid but the game is hardly boring.

The subtitle colors makes me think it's an anime.

@fattony12000: I'm confident they added the knife throwing with full knowledge that people would stream and upload dope clips of them making cray knife throws. I've already had a few insane lucky shots.

This looks acceptable. The Crucible footage made me want to fire up Reach (I really liked the Reach multiplayer).

I don't know if this is a day one buy for me or not, to be honest, but I will probably pick it up at some point.

I wanna play this in 1080P at 60 FPS with a keyboard and mouse goddammit... why oh why can't this fucking thing come out for PC at the same time?

I thought the first halo book was really good and I don't even like halo that much. But I also love lore and this game is a lore goldmine for me. cant wait to dig in(novels included).

I've been playing the beta, it's fun, and yeah, as a titan, he just clobber's them in the face, and I do it often. Not only do I have enough health often times, but it's powerful and they react by simply going down.

PC gamer here. I have no idea why this isn't being made for PC. The online nature of it acts like DRM against pirates, the architecture of PS4 and Xbox One should make porting not that difficult, and Activision likes money. That being said, why in god's name isn't this game coming to PC.

Either way, this game doesn't look appealing to me. Combat doesn't look like it would do it for me and I can't stand high concept, space fantasy worlds. Hearing names like The Fallen, The Hive, Wizards, Ghosts, and all of these dumb names just make me groan. Also, everything Jeff said about the space marines in Halo grounding it is dead on. Without anything to ground to in this game, it all just looks and sounds overdone.

I hope this does well for the Halo fans though. Not my cup of tea, but to each their own.

Ok, let me give you the low down. The floating diamond that is Peter Dinklage commented on an enemy type in the alpha called a Wizard (groan). He said "That Wizard is from the moon!"

Really wish those terms still meant something, instead of just being glorified demos.

At least one trailer had the voice sounding all robot-ish before the alpha came out. It was just an old build.

It bugs me how casualized jeff has gotten. Not as an insult but...it seems he's just only into comfort games and gets annoyed when something is too difficult or unfamiliar.

This video seems rather...superfluous, doesn't it? The beta doesn't really add anything meaningful to the alpha content (at least as of yet) and there's really nothing in this video that wasn't covered in the original.

I've never read the Halo series, but I'm a bit miffed that they seems so condescending towards books. Not every book has to be Shakespeare. Reading for fun is a perfectly reasonable pastime!

@luck702: My bet is that they wanted to distance themselves from the MMO moniker and the best way to do that is to not let the majority of MMO players play it. Once Destiny is actually released and set in as a brand in people's minds, we'll see the sequel on PC 99%.

In the leaked contract between Bungie and Activision, Destiny 1 was planned to be released in Fall 2013, on 360, "720" (Xbone) and PS3. Aside from the fact PS4 wasn't planned to hit last year and the fact the game was delayed by a year, we see that a PC version was never planned. But, for the sequel, it's explicitly stated that a PC version is indeed planned. Take from that what you will.

This reminds me about the time Patrick called Nolan North an asshole and people thought he was serious. Except "dorks" isn't even an insult, even if you did misread Dan's clearly humorous tone.

This looks pretty great, Dinklage voice over is definitely better with that filter thrown on it.

Also, the first couple Halo books are pretty great.
