Very fun UPF, Crawl was great.

Crawl looks like a lot of fun. Too bad its only local.

Can someone correct me... didnt Crawl come out, then Darkest Dungeon (with all the audio), then this version of Crawl?!

If you ask me, Jason's shoe and the Rockstar can are in perfect focus in the main camera. Every thing behind it looks blurry. Every other camera looks better.

I've noticed how soft the crew looks in that shot, maybe make an adjustment?

@cthomer5000: It has been in early access for a long time. They played Crawl 4 times before this UPF, and the narrator / prologue stuff wasn't there at that time.

This is the first time i turn off a GB video in disgust. Some intern probably forgot a screw or something. Do I demand Brad come to my house to reread to bombcast to my house when the audio is bad. Or when a stream is out of sync. Mistakes are made. Please leave that elitism out of your content. Have some actual respect For people in service and retail jobs when you are having a issue. Not just talking nice about it on a bombcast.

I don't know about Brads receiver, but mine outputs an on-screen display for any menus or things like volume/hdmi changing. Even if the screen went bust on mine, I probably wouldnt need it. I assumed it was a standard feature in all modern receivers.

Flinthook looks pretty okay...oh, it's a roguelike with randomly generated levels, great! Ah well, gameplay seems kinda neat, which is why I also gave Gungeon a chance, so maybe I'll try this. Can't be worse than Mercenary Kings.

I like the idea of This Is The Run: Battlegrounds, but with all that graphics settings nonsense, hacking 'n other similiar shit, I think there's a bit too many random factors involved, when compared to something like Contra or Soul Calibur.

That said, I'd be up for a East/West Playdate. Though I almost wish they would just pre-record that beforehand, so that some random assholes wouldn't just ruin it by doing the exact thing they discussed on the Bombcast, aka, following the stream to know their locations.

Also, Matthew "What are we doing in this game that we've already played for 30 minutes" Rorie, you keep being you.

Jeff's comment about Zobek in Castlevania blew my mind. I watched that UPF a couple of days ago, it's still hilarious!

All the problems I had watching the initial coverage of Crawl seem to have been fixed. Looks like a rad game now.

@glots: I had the opposite reaction to Flint Hook. I thought "Oh man this looks really awesome..oh it's a roguelike with auto generated levels.." Was hoping it was something like a Hotline Miami or a Gunpoint, with fun hand crafted areas you progress through. Auto generated anything is an instant turn off for me. I rather get 3-5 hours of a really well made and unique adventure for $15-20 bux than 100 hours of repeating rooms made from pre-fab pieces.

Same here. I watched that UPF a few weeks ago myself. And I had the same thought Jeff had haha.

Oh no, I was very much trying to convey sarcasm with that line. The mentioned Mercenary Kings was such a letdown, because I was really pumped for the visuals of that game alone and then severly disappointed when it turned out to be some stupid Monster Hunter thing. Another recent example was We Happy Few, especially because of that initial reveal.

But Enter The Gungeon was still a game that I put at least 50 hours into, so I can still consider buying one of "these" games if I happen to get interested enough. But I still very much prefer a 2D 'platformer' with a narrative and unique levels...hopefully Little Nightmares delivers on that.

@jeff There is a easy solution for your amp problem, connect 4k sources directly to the TV with HDMI and connect them to the amp with an optical cable.

I faced same problem with the PS4 Pro a while back and this seemed way more sensible than buying a 4K A/V amplifier.

This was one of the roughest UPFs to watch in a while, they spent way too much time on Crawl. Probably it's a fun game to play together but it's really boring to watch and the music on it gets annoying really fast. I just gave up when I was watching it live and came back now to see if there's something more interesting on the rest of the UPF.

Kudos to Rorie for noticing they were playing for too long and tried to ask them to move on.

Also, they kept praising Flinthook but I really can't see what's so different about it when compared to the thousands of pixel-art, randomly generated rogue-like platformers out there.

Last game was great, just like the "Unfinished" East did for it. Wouldn't mind seeing more of that.

@terrell: This is why I find myself enjoying Giant Bomb East and Austin Walker's Waypoint these days. They offer refreshing, positive voices in the jaded, stale world of games coverage.

Crawl looks absolutely awesome now. I think online play would take it to the next level though.

I just can't put my mind behind why someone include someone's skin color out of nowhere, as if it mattered. It's not like race would change their way of thinking.

This is the weirdest place to see outraged comments. Stop being so sensitive. And for the record smooth frame rates make games more enjoyable to play. Doesn't make the design poorer or better. Ideally every game would have a smooth frame rate.

Is it just me or was Rorie the only one who could play Crawl correctly? He was the only one that used his special all game. Brad was whining about not being able to catch anyone when he has a special that does great damage over a large area. Or did I miss something?
