The War of the Worlds is a 2D sidescroller developed by Other Ocean Interactive. It's based on the novel of the same name (and not the movie) although it is set in 1953 London and does not strictly follow the plot of the novel, instead focusing on an unnamed protagonist who's striving to save his family.
The War of the Worlds tells the story of a man trying to save his family while aliens attack. Like in the book, the aliens have been observing earth for centuries, waiting for the right moment to strike. Finally taking action, they decimate all of earth's defenses in a mere three days and spread fear around the globe.
The game has been described as cinematic by its developers, letting you control your character through a variety of levels, avoiding tripods and trying not to get shot. The entire story is narrated by Sir Patrick Stewart.
The War of the Worlds is a 2D platformer where players must dodge tripods, jump over gaps and solve the occasional puzzle. The player can jump as well as latch on to ledges and must avoid lasers as well as environmental hazards.
