Maybe. The Swedish show Real Humans aired in France a while ago so it's fair to assume they were influenced by it, then again, the core conceit goes all the way back to Asimov's novels.

Yeah, and cold cuts, pates, sausages, and similar items are made from animal faces (and other undesirable parts of the animal that would otherwise go unused or for Pet food, etc).
