Marie Rose

Overview

Marie Rose is a female fighter introduced in an update to the arcade version of Dead or Alive 5 Ultimate and as a DLC character for the console version. She is voiced by Mai Aizawa in Japanese and Christine Marie Cabanos in English. She is very popular in Japan and was the highest voted character to be included in Dead or Alive Xtreme 3, followed by Honoka.

Marie is Swedish and apparently works as a servant for Helena Douglas. She dresses in gothic lolita fashion and fights using the Systema style, which originated in the Russian military. Her basic profile information indicates that her favorite food is the Swedish dessert princess cake, and her hobbies include watching horror films and sewing.

Appearance

Marie is a petite young woman with fair skin, long blonde hair and blue eyes. While most of the female characters in the Dead or Alive series are quite tall, curvaceous and busty, Marie is the shortest and has the smallest bust. She wears tall platform shoes to give her a much needed height boost in the fighting arena. While she is 18 years old, because of her small frame and youthful appearance she could pass for a younger girl.

Marie Rose has a striking resemblance to the anime/manga character Ekaterina Kurae of Seikon no Qwaser, and to a lesser extent several other similar characters.

Marie's main outfit is designed after gothic lolita fashion. She wears a frilly black and white shoulderless dress with a large red bow on the back, black and red platform boots with buckled straps, and 4 individual straps on each of her legs. There two horizontal straps around her middle, one of them around her stomach and the other under her bust, with a vertical strap connecting them to a choker around her neck. She also wears fingerless black gloves. This outfit has a couple of variations; one that adds a piece to cover the rest of her upper body and a frilly headband/bonnet, and one with a full white color scheme.

For her alternate costume Marie wears a blue "battle suit" consisting of a leotard with white frills and a red bow tie, matching sleeves, platform ankle boots with thigh-high tights, and a pair of gloves with white fingers. There is an alternate white version of this costume, and the bodysuit portion can be worn as a swimsuit in the Dead or Alive Xtreme games.

Character Model Changes

In the Dead or Alive Xtreme series, Marie's character model was altered slightly. While her torso remains largely unchanged, her bottom is lower down, giving her a slightly longer abdomen and slightly shorter legs. Her backside and thighs are also somewhat larger than before, perhaps to emphasize the jiggle physics added to those areas and/or because of the "Butt Battle" mode.
