Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 PSN Requires An Internet Connection

Checking the connection on start-up is fine by me and, yes I share PSN games with tons of people. 
 
My qualm is if it ends up meaning I always have to have an active connection to keep playing it. Sometimes there's a minor hiccup on my connection and if that kicks me out of the game mid-checkpoint save then that's pretty lame. 
 
Also, I'm not paying 15 bucks for Rearmed. Remember when GRIN asked fans how much they'd pay for a Bionic Commando Rearmed game?

Exactly, it's not piracy if you are allowed to do it through the rules, and terms laid out by PSN. Developers just don't like that rule.  Regardless, piracy is still number 1 on the PC. It's way easier to pirate stuff on this PC. Almost as easy as just simply installing a game. It requires jumping through way more hoops on the 360, and even MORE hoops on the PS3 (at least for now). That's why development of games has all but moved over to consoles (unless you're Blizzard), with PC's just sometimes getting ports. "

I'd rather Sony cuts down the "share" rule to just two PS3s instead of five so that this kind of thing doesn't ever have to happen. I'll admit that I let my brother download stuff from my account, but only because he's not a hardcore gamer, so only like 10% of what I buy is something he might enjoy. Sharing it is better than him not ever doing anything on his PS3 besides play movies / watch Netflix.

If they got rid of all DRM except for a disc check and a CD key then I'm 90% certain sales for any such game would increase.
But the way things happen at the moment is that publishers whack a load of DRM on it, people pirate the game because it's easier than buying it and having a load of trouble, and then the publisher blames the pirates. If you're going to reduce piracy you have to make it easier to buy the game than it is to download, and that means getting rid of DRM.

Unless you can't get the internet all the time.  In the student hall where I live, it's hard to impossible to get a console online. I could take it to a friends house to buy it, but then I couldn't actually play it.  For everyone to assume that everyone ALWAYS has the internet, you're being very naive and idiotic. When I bought Pacman CEDX, I bought it at my girlfriends house, then carried on playing it at home. I planned to do this for BCR2, but I guess I can't. "

If you can't connect even for a moment then you probably can't connect at all, genius. I can only go online on my 360 when I'm home from university. So yes- this is an issue. I can't connect to XBL but I still want to be able to play the games I've previously downloaded.  "

Here in the U.S. high-speed internet isn't nearly as widespread as in other industrialized countries, such as those of Western Europe (due to our aversion to high-density living). My home on the rural Northern California coast still has dial-up, so this absolutely sucks for me.

If thats how you feel about the game, then nobody is going to be able to explain the appeal to you.  I'll try though. Some people think side scrolling shooters that are reminiscent of older games are fun. Its as simple as that. I don't know how you can't possibly see that. "

I never have my PS3 hooked up to the internet, it has no wifi (20gb model) and thus requires a lot of rewiring to get the ethernet cable to reach. Thank god I waited one single day and got it on the superior Xbox 360.

Even if this doesn't affect me 99% of the time, the fact that it is there and limiting a legit buyer would stop me getting it.

Punish your customers because of other actions?  Bullshit.  Good thing I don't buy or play mediocre games anyway.

 That feels iffy to me. Then again, given the poor reviews and the fact that I didn't think much of the first Rearmed anyway my care-o-meter is kind of running on empty for this one anyway, so there's that. 
 
Still, intrusive DRM on consoles is just bad customer relations IMO, if they want to burn their redownloads by sharing the games beyond the EULA I get how it's not ideal for the publisher, but it's still something they may want to address with Sony and how they structure their download policy, not with the end user.

I don't have a PS3. This is because of people sharing PSN profiles, not because of the recent geohotz/failoverflow crap?

AFAIK, you can only install a PSN game on up to 3 consoles now anyway, I have 2 PS3s, so it's nice to be able to install on both.  They are both online tho, so this is kind of a non-issue for me personally.

I really couldn't care less. I bought it because I thought it looked great.

I might go back for a few trophies after I finish the game, but that's about it. Just like the first Rearmed. So the whole "always on" thing means very little to me.

Didn't really plan to buy it anyway.  One game was enough, and I'd rather they moved on to another franchise like Trojan or Black Tiger.

I was also interested in buying this game, but I refuse to buy any games that have this kind of strict DRM.  
 
Yes, I buy the game online, so you would think I have a constant connection, most of the time I do. However, storms happen...internet connections can cut out, or hell sometimes I'm really short on money, and have gotten my internet  turned off for a couple weeks. I would like to have access to the games I legally  purchased regardless if I have an internet connection!   
 
Even if the problem isn't on my end, there have been times when PSN has just not worked. Not to mention, after seeing companies like Microsoft already having servers shut down for the original Xbox (which is bull shit, there were still plenty of people playing Halo 2 still), it does not make me feel very confident that they will keep their service active for a particular system forever. I still own my NES and some of the games from over 20 years ago, and occasionally I actually still play them. Can Sony and Capcom assure me that I will still have access to the PSN server 20 years from now, so I can play my copy of Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 then? Doubt it...

 - constant internet connection required
- still no online play regardless
- versus mode completely eliminated 
- load times everywhere, making challenge rooms extremely annoying to play
- 50% more expensive
