Crysis Arrives for Consoles on October 4

Cool.

Totally worth 20 bucks. If you haven't played it you should give it a try. Lots of awesome action fun. I love the abilities and how open the game is. I didn't hate Crysis 2 but I enjoyed the first game a lot more.

Sorry, October 4th and the two months after that are reserved for Dark Souls, and then I need to find time to play Skyrim and Rage and..... ARGHHH. Too many awesome games coming out the next few moths.

I think $20 is a reasonable price. Graphics aside, the first half of the game is legitimately good, and different enough to most console shooters to make it still worth bothering with. Obviously it goes to shit once the 'I'm going to fly straight at you like I'm in Serious Sam' monsters turn up, just like Far Cry did.

I guess I am one of the few people who enjoyed the back end more than the first half. I got sick of killing the same five Koreans over and over again.

Loved Crysis on PC and given the price for this one I'll pick up this for 360 as well.

I played Crysis 2 on 360 and I liked it but didn't love it. Is the first one better?

Cutting down the vegetation means less options for concealment. One of my favorite things to do in Crysis is to take out whole patrols of soldiers with nothing but my fists and whatever throwable objects I can find. With this playstyle, I spend much of my time lying prone under a bush, either waiting for my suit energy to recharge, or for my next victim to get within grabbing distance, thus I'm not quite as effective with less places to hide.

Look for yourself, you can see draw-in but I think most of the stuff seems to be in there, especially foliage. Ok, we will have to see next week I guess.

Crysis has always had draw-in issues. It had em back when I played with Low-Medium settings way back in 2007, it has them now when I'm playing them on my brand new computer on High settings, and Crysis 2 has them.

They've said they're "remastering" it with upgraded suit abilities. So it's likely it'll play just like Crysis 2, since you used 2 bumpers for the abilities, and Crysis 1 had 4 abilities.

the first 6 or so hours of the first game are amazing... but it definitely drops off imo.

the PC version is compatible with the 360 gamepad so i'm not too interested to see how it would play on console, but i will admit that the price tag is sort of enticing.

Does anyone else find the fact that this will be downloadable slightly ironic?

To tell you the truth, the gameplay is only really great in the first half. I'm in the middle of playing Crysis 2 right now and, from what I have played, I feel it just plays better overall than Crysis 1.

No way that I can buy this with everything else I'm getting.

I bought Crysis for the PC for $10 and I enjoyed it very much. Cool singleplayer. Crysis Warhead on the other hand is more of the same and short which was disappointing to me. Dunno why people say Warhead is better. Crazy.

I think Warhead was just a lot more linear and scripted which appealed to people used to Call of Duty games. It was more of a guided experience which required less choice on your part.

About the only thing I thought Warhead did better was giving you vehicles worth a damn. In Crysis, you generally got a bunch of open top hummers with machine guns. These things made you completely exposed and attracted a lot of gunfire which would set the car on fire and blow up quite quickly. The mounted M60 on top was also a little underwhelming in its firepower and wasn't enough of a boon to justify being in a sitting duck.

Crytek learned and gave you fully armored APCs in Warhead with mounted miniguns that could really tear things up.

Crysis had no online multiplayer right?

I really loved how open-ended the map were (in the first half, that's it). It's pretty rare to see shooter this open. I loved Far Cry 2 for the same reasons, but I'm probably alone.

Anyway, I've played Crysis for the first time last year, on my PC, and still, it is one of the best looking game around. I don't want to judge before seeing it on console, but less foliage means less places to hide, and that could be a pretty big deal.

Nice release timing. Why bother releasing your mediocre shooter when so many other shooters and big name games are coming out around the same time?

I don't understand the mentality. Crysis is a borderline average game, aside from it looking nice on my PC back in 2007 I had to push myself to finish it. It plays well but it's just dull and the story is shit.

At least it's $20.

huh, I don't know since the game was more of a showcase and supposedly gameplay worsened as you progressed through the game.

$20 for a somewhat updated version of Crysis is a pretty good deal! Of course people talk about the graphics, but I thought the game itself was a ton of fun! The large, open-ended levels combined with the suit powers really let you be creative and tackle problems in your own way. Listen: do you want to throw a chicken square in the face of enemy combatants? Crysis has got you covered.

I like how people bitch about pricing saying "Since when do we have to pay 20$ for a downloadable game?!" and I paid 20$ for WipEout HD when it first came out.

they can fix the graphics all they want, the game itself still will play like complete horseshit!

Crysis is a good, innovative and ambitiously designed shooter even apart from its still excellent graphics, but I have a hard time seeing the justification for a scaled-down console port this late in life cycle of the 360/PS3. This would have made much more sense as, say, a launch downloadable title for the "Xbox 720"/PS4 nextgen consoles - if nothing else, such a version would probably have been quite capable of replicating the original game's performance on a high-end PC; and thus serve as an excellent technical showcase for next console generation. As it stands, this is just too little, too late.

That's kind of a bummer. I would even be happy with a death match mode. I'll probably wait for a sale unless it comes out on PSN with a PS+ discount.

You haven't missed much other then some nice graphics if you never played this.

Bought this game with a laptop upon release to test the laptop graphics. Couldn't play it. Bought a gaming pc 6 months ago with an NVidia 450 gt. Still can't play it on max settings... Maybe this is my chance.

everyone talks about the gfx but the game is pretty fun. For $20, assuming it isn't completely broken and has a decent framerate, it's not such a bad deal. I think I actually got it cheaper on the PC tho.

Much better than Crysis 2

I "played" Crysis not long after it came out [Read: 12 FPS]. And as I always stop caring about the graphics in anything after ten minutes, I just might buy it just to see a decent framerate.

I'm interested in playing this. Never owned a pc anywhere near able to run this game so have happily ignored it till now.

$20, finally playable on a console, and NO multiplayer? Fuck. Yes.

I hope it's not as boring, janky and nonsensical as Crysis 2 was. ill be seriously disappointed if so after all the hype. folks tell me that crysis 1 is better, so hopes are up but man crysis 2 was a harsh letdown for me. i wonder what the fans of the first game thought of it.

I always assumed they couldn't get it to run on consoles or they would've released it a long time ago. Guess I was wrong. Or I hope so...if all they did was change it from a tropical island to more of a desert island than that's cool with me. If they cut out some gameplay...hmmm...

Anyway, I played Far Cry and Crisis 2, so for everyone who is claiming the gameplay is crap...uh...not likely. Unless you have genre confusion and want every FPS to undergo transgenre alterations...maybe you wish it was an RTS? In that case your opinion on FPS gameplay isn't exactly, um, crucial for me.

Release dates and boxart: front page news for Giant Bomb.

This game was boring on PC, I highly doubt it's going to be any more fun on consoles

iirc, you could actually hide from enemies without cloak by crouch/proning in the vegetation. Not sure how well that will work with all the shrubs gone :/

The game is NOT finally being releasedon consoles because it is missing half of the content in the form of environments. The vegetation was a huge part of the first game. You are getting in essence an incomplete game. Not to mention the fact that they simplified the suit controls. You are better off running the game on lower settings on a PC if you can.

@squirrelnacho: I've never played Crysis, so explain to me how simplifying the suit's controls are a bad thing. Explain how the suit works on the PC versus how it would work in a more streamlined manner on consoles.
